OOTD for Running errands today...(grocery shopping, getting the car serviced, dropping off bags of clothes at thrift store, returning an ill-fitting skirt, and on the hunt for a pair of beige-slingback-high-wedge-espadrille-vacation-shoes 🛍️)

Hey now, be nice to yourself. I’m not at goal, and everyone in here has been nothing but nice. I also certainly don’t look like a hippo, and still rock some cute outfits.
Other posters aren’t at goal and still look great! We don’t need to hide in the shadows or be ashamed of how we look, at any step. I refuse to, and find the sentiment that being a bit (or even a lot) from a specific weight means that you should hide or aren’t worthy of nice clothes disheartening and sad.
Bears unite! Love your body in all its stages ❤️ Or at least don’t say mean things about it ❤️

Bowel prep is one of the many things that varies from doctor to doctor and program to program.
May the Bariatric Surgery Gods bless you with not having to go through THAT particular experience.
The worst part for me? The first of two days of bowel prep was on my birthday. Crappy Birthday to me!
    Literally.

A quote I heard often comforts me at times like this: "Life sucks, then you die."
Wait, that may not be it. Oh, yeah: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
Well, it's better, but still. Oh: "It's always darkest before the dawn."
Yeah, that one works. You have some dark times coming for the next few weeks, then it starts getting better and better, with new surprises around every corner.
    Welcome to cliche hell.
    Good Luck

In general now that I’m in maintenance the Protein in any meal has to be higher than the carbs. And in general I try not to drink my carbs. During the loss phase it was more like a 4:1 or even 5:1 ratio protein to carbs. I ate very little carbs and they were mostly from
    dairy and green veggies.

My surgeon has a low carb plan.

This is my first "meal" since surgery, day one of phase 3. One egg scrambled with one teaspoon of whole milk, a sprinkle of black pepper and paprika and 1/4 of banana. Unfortunately this is the post pic as I forgot to take a pre pic but gotta tell you it was not that much larger. I only had about 4 SMALL bites of the egg and started getting that good old feeling right at my sternum area. The 4 bites were over a period of about 10-15 minutes. Very odd feeling to eat such a small amount and have a full belly. This is going to be weird getting used to.

You know you are a bariatric person when it’s your birthday and your brother says, “I’m going to take you to Texas Roadhouse for your birthday. I’m going to buy you a $20 steak and watch you eat 50 cents worth of it!” Happened last week.

Its always Amazing -from the pureed stage all the way to regular foods, its a staple for me because its no cook and so quick , mostly just prep work ready in 5 mins:Salmon (pouched or canned) mayo, spices(sweet curry powder, red curry powder, onion and garlic powder, pepper, salt, anything else you like)! Thank you everyone. I did do FMLA for the surgery and my manager is totally willing to give me more time if needed. I'm currently scheduled for surgery on the 24th and returning to work on Oct 5th.

Why not take the week you have and hope for the best. If you’re not up to returning at the time, maybe your supervisor will allow you to come back part time or take a few days leave without pay. Sign up for FMLA.

I won't miss needing to turn the lights off in the bedroom because I am so disgustingly fat, or strategically trying to hide my rolls in bed with sheets or pillows; or having to drink 3/4 of bottle of wine to feel comfortable about my body in bed, and then waking up sick & hungover the next day.
I won't miss having to buy new clothes every few weeks or months because none of my clothes fit again.
I won't miss having multiple size wardrobes depending for what stage of fat I am. I look forward to wearing one size for the rest of my life,
I won't miss having to wear two underwire bras at all times, because my breasts are so enormous and heavy.
I won't miss the backaches, neckaches and shoulderaches that go with enormous, fat breasts.
I won't miss not being able to wear cute, attractive clothes, and having to wear tents when I am in public.
I won't miss pretending to be sick and not going to events or parties, because I am afraid that people will see how fat I got. I will not miss the disapproving looks of my husband's family when they see my weight gain, when we fly home to see them.
I won't miss people saying that they did not recognize me (because I got so fat again - my weight fluctuates by around 100+ pounds)
I won't miss the acid reflux that was part of being fat (and hope that my sleeve does not cause it to return!)
I won't miss peeing every time I laugh/sneeze/cough. Stress incontinence is 1,000% worse for me when I am obese.
I won't miss developing herniated discs & sciatica because of the pressure of the weight on my back (I had disc surgery right before my sleeve, and hope that the weight loss helps me not reherniate)
I won't miss being exhausted all the time, and not having the energy to work out, or not being able to physically handle working out. I won't miss not being able to do active, fun things like hike, mountain bike, swim, snorkle and ski.
I won't miss getting winded after two or three stairs and having to catch my breath.
I won't miss ducking out of photos, because I don't want there to be a record of how fat I am.
I won't miss seeing my HA1C going up every time I get blood work, along with lipids, etc, and knowing I am developing diabetes and heart disease.
I won't miss my joints hurting when I walk, and waddling down the road as my thighs painfully rub together.
I know there are more thing's I won't miss about being fat, but can't think of them now!

Thank you for your advice! I will definitely read those books you recommended. I have noticed a slight change even though the scale isn’t really showing it. I see my hormone specialist next week so I’ll ask him about the weight issue. My primary care doctor said I should just keep trying even if my weight isn’t dropping. He says if I can just keep focusing on eating healthy and lose some before my surgery then that will be helpful.
Thank you again for your words of encouragement. I really needed it. 😊

Congrats on reaching “the penthouse!” My Dad always says “ Hitch your wagon to a star!” And that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m just in the pre-op phase and feeling a bit frustrated with my weight loss. I eat about 750 calories a day (or less) and it’s mostly Protein. No sugar, no dairy, lots of Water. In the past if I wanted to drop some weight I would follow the same plan but now the weight just won’t come off. Went through menopause recently so I’m wondering if that has something to do with it. I’m seeing a hormone specialist and have an implant. Another reason?? I’m feeling a bit bummed since I’m trying sooo hard! I weigh and measure everything and I plan my meals and follow it; no cheating. Since you’re already in the penthouse, Any advice you can give would be appreciated!

Oh honey! I felt like crawling through the phone and hugging you. I TOTALLY could see me doing that. Fast food is so darn yummy and FAST and the REGRET just like you said, too. I have lost 45 pounds pre op but I really struggled with eating fast food a couple times a week. I don't know about you, but i swear my subconscious always does that to me. It tells me you've done great, you DESERVE it. Like it's a reward. Its so annoying. I just have to tell myself ok. So what. You aren't perfect, you're only human. Now that you found out it wasn't worth it just try to do better one day at a time. It's ok. Hugs
