Hi - I wish I had an answer for the way you are feeling but I too have those thoughts - almost afraid of what the other me will be like - if different at all. But since my banding in May 2008 - I can tell you the benefits outweigh the fears - I do not snore anymore, my energy is high (I don't recognize myself) and I am beginning to socialize without thoughts of my weight first. Good Luck next week - you will do great! Christina
  2. OMG - good luck - you will love the facility & staff! Who is your patient coordinator? Jessica Espina is mine - she is great - full of info!
  3. Sorry - let me clarify - I lost 7 pounds pre-op diet and 19 pounds since the surgery - but thanks! You are doing great - I remind myself all the time that I didn't put it on in 3 weeks - I am just so anxious to see result!
  4. Congrats on the weight loss - u go gurl! Yup I agree - I look at food totally different and obssessed with all the ingredients - especially the protien! Keep in Touch - we can follow each other's progress. Christina PS. - My hubby hid the scale - no weigh in until next Sunday - I am down 26lbs since my surgery!
  5. O'my yes - I was so tired of juices, broth & jello-(sugar free popscicles - even sugar free Rita's Waterice) it is huge welcome when you can move onto the pureed stuff. I know it seems to be going slow now but the good stuff is coming and your energy will return. (you will kiss the scale when you see the results from the liquids) Hang in there! Christina
  6. Congrats on your upcoming band & birthday! I know definitely what you mean the years speeding by and the weight added so many aches and pains - the band is a great gift to yourself. (Mine was too!) I am happy to report since my banding and the loss of 25 lbs - I stopped snoring, shortness of breath is gone and my energy is through the roof! Best of luck - 40 is only getting better! PS. I look forward to wearing shorts - if not this summer next! (I haven't worn shorts in 8 years!)
  7. Hi! Have you tried the Protein Drinks mixed with Water or soy milk? Maybe it's the lactose that is not agreeing with your band. Have a great day!
  8. OMG - that is a great idea to have someone hide the scale - it will have to be my husband to do this for me! Thanks! I was driving myself crazy - like today - the scale hasn't moved - I wanted to kick it!
  9. Yes - I am hungry - I wouldn't say all the time but it definitely there. I think at this time is more will power to get to the first fill. (My band is empty - first fill is July 11, 2008) I try to find the highest Protein items when I eat - like chix in the can (Valley Fresh chicken - 13 g of protein) - Egg Beaters w/low fat cheese mixed in - Ground Soy Burger (13 g of protein) w/stewed tomatoes - pinto Beans mashed w/low fat cheddar and 1 tbp of FF sour cream - 12 g of protein) Some deli shaved meats are okay too - ham or turkey baked w/low fat cheese dipped in mustard. Greek Yogurt Fage 11 grams of protein w/tsp of blueberry preserve. It definitely tough - we are working for the band! I try to be creative to look forward to different foods... Also I bought - Reynolds storage cups with the number of ounces stamped on the bottom - so I could measure what I was eating and then eat from the same container. Keep it going - it's so worth! Christina
  10. SunshineLady - Are you having problems staying away from the scale? I am so obsessing everyday I jump on - I know that's bad!
  11. Hi SunshineLady! It is wonderful to be losing weight and for me a bit unbelievable - considering the years of dieting! (Trying every diet imagineable - the good, the bad and the ugly! You will be so happy with the mushy food tomorrow - take it slow! Today I tried a canned chicken (2oz) mixed with a tsp of no-fat mayo - yum! (And I get to chew!) Best of luck - we can do this! Christina
  12. I turned the big 4 - 0 in April 2008 - it was a great birthday - it doesn't feel any different than 30. :tongue2: But I want a do-over next year for my 41st with the weight loss!
  13. Hello All! I am new to Lapbandtalk.com - I was recently banded in Juarez MX by Dr. Jose Rodriguez - so far so good! I am in Stage 3 purees/mushy food as of today 6/11/08 - taking it nice and slow. Including my pre-op diet a week before my surgery until today I have lost 25lbs! My energy is skyrocketing and I can hardly believe what a difference I feel! I have purchased several resource books that I have found to be useful - "The Lapband for Life" by Dr. Ortiz, "Before & After" by Susan Maria Leach and "Weightloss Surgery for Dummies". (lots of recipes and helpful hints) I am thrilled to find this helpful forum for support! Christina:wink_smile:
