How often do you weigh yourself??
I agree!.. In the past I always weighed in once a week.. but my father (an engineer).. has always told me that weighing in once a week misses the patterns.. you need to note your weight everyday to see the pattern emerge for weight loss. My Mum loses 1kg every 10 days (fluctuating daily).. my Dad loses 1kg every 7 days. I used to get SO mad at Weight Watchers because I would always stay the same or gain!.. but when my father explained this basic fact.. I was stunned!.. I was weighing in on my heavy day!.. I personally now weigh everyday. And like other bandsters think of it as assisting me.. it is good to see little losses.. it makes the weigh in at the docs easier to bare when I have gained a little.. I will be watching my weight daily post op!.. and plotting my numbers on a graph!. .it will be very interesting to see a pattern develop!..

I feel so awful....
hi! I am sorry they found that bacteria.. but it will be for the best. I had to do the same tests actually. I blew into two test tubes. Then they gave me something to drink (?) and I had to blow into two more 30 mins later. Thankfully mine were negative.. It must be really frustrating for you but I hope you feel much better soon so you can continue on your journey. best of luck to you! Kizzie

I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June
thanks for the advice. I will make a little 'survival' note book for afterwards.. and maybe leave post its around!.. walk walk walk!! The walk to the kitchen here is quite some distance... but I will make it. we have professional chefs etc..and a lot of staff who don't know what I am doing.. so I will just have to get them to make me Soups and pretend i am sick or something!! ha.. I will figure it out.. it is the start of something new and wonderful and I want to feel wonderful about it.. not ashamed that I caved in because I am weak.. Anyway I am going to read some of the positive posts on here and keep myself motivated and happy!.. I will call my parents in a few hours and have a chat with them too.. thanks again.. and it is good to know you are there!

I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June
thank you so much for replying so quickly!. It is so very good to know that I am not alone. My parents live in New Zealand and I am in Spain... so they are asleep when I need to talk. It is very hard to get things in order when I can't talk about my situation. Honestly I just get looks of distaste... or 'she's talking about being fat again.why doesn't she just stop eating'.. it is a very hard place to be. If I didn't live where I work I would have never said anything to these people. It really annoys me that they have to know all my personal information. I do know that when the weight DOES start to fall off.. that they will THEN realise what I had to do to get to this situation. anyway, I am currently trying to sort out getting my shopping in for after my surgery. I will be pretty much on my own so will need to have things handy that don't require too much refrigeration. How long did you need to stay in bed?? I am going into hospital at 2pm for a 4pm surgery.. and should be home again the following lunchtime. thank you for being there!.. I know myself that I am not a weak person.. but it is very hard to be around ignorant people who seem to think they are far superior because they are thin and earn a heap more money than I do!!...

I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June
Hi there I could really do with an online mentor. I am quite alone in all of this 'band' procedure. Personally, I am so excited about my new life.. but I live with the people I work with and the general consensus is that I must be very weak willed to have to resort to such a procedure. This is very hard to endure. I am really unable to talk to anyone about my surgery and my decision. So I am currently living in silence. These people have never had a weight problem in their lives and are all under 120. I hear them regularly complain about getting fat... mmm they have NO idea.. and just see me as a lazy overeater. I hope there is someone who would be willing to hear my fear, concerns, exchange chats..and generally be my 'band' friend through this. I am a very happy person usually. But since I decided to make this change. some of the people I live with (who had to know as I need to take a week off of work..and one of them has to drive me -she is quite supportive-) don't make it easy for me.. so I do feel a little bit down. My family are all overseas.. and I can't take that much time off to have the procedure done with them. It is kind of a 'you can have it done if the recovery isn't too long'..kind of thing here.. and the whole surgery and recovery shouldn't be too inconvenient to those around me..in other words. have it done, hide away for a week and then come back to work mentioning nothing about it. mmmm supportive eh!?.. thanks in advance.. June line up
Hello!!.. I was given my Op date. I am being 'banded' 18th June in Spain. Can I go on the list please!??
-
I ate a pork chop thought I was GONNA DIE!
Oh gosh!.. me too!!>. that is one of my biggest concerns right now.. (pre op).. what if I just 'swallow' it..before I have done chewing!!????..I guess that is the reason not to do anything when you are eating. Focus solely on eating and chewing.. crikey.. it is going to be hard. I have eaten lunch at my laptop for years!!... and finished lunch without even thinking.. TIME FOR A LIFESTYLE CHANGE!!>. gosh there is so much more to learn with this!..

What did you find the hardest to deal with post op?
Hi everyone. I am pre-op, waiting for a date. I am researching as much as I can and as I am sitting here I am sipping a cup of and not really thinking too much about how fast I am gulping it down. These questions have been going through my mind for the last few days. What did you find the most difficult to come to terms with after your surgery?. Which habits did you find hardest to break? If you feel really thirsty can you 'gulp' drinks? or is that where sipping every 15 minutes comes in??.. Thanks..

Miami area?
Hi there. I am being 'banded' in Spain. Just waiting for the date. I will be in Miami for about 4 months from September. Has anyone found a Fill Dr near Miami? St Petes and Tampa are too far away.. There must be Bariatric Dr's in such a big city. thank you Kizzie

New here!.. hi!.. have second consult on Tuesday.
Aunt Lucy.. it really does feel wonderful.. if you knew the kind of life I lead surrounded by size 0's.. constantly being told.. "you would be so beautiful if you would only lose weight ".. and "all you need to do is keep your lips closed'... some horrible comments.. OR the opposite.. just overly sympathetic.. almost as if I am terminally ill!!... anyway... I got braces this year.. for me.. I got new contact lenses.. for me.. and I thought.. NO MORE DIETS.. time to take control and do this thing.. no more denying it.. I need a life altering tool to bring me back to my former self.. I am having to pay for it all myself as I can't get any insurance company to cover it.. but it will be worth every cent. I have my appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday. I am hoping to make a date. They haven't mentioned a diet at all .. so it may be that it isn't necessary. I am in Europe having it done..near to where I work. So I hope to go in on a Friday and be back working on the Monday.. I live where I work so they are giving me time to adjust over the weekend... I just want to get it done now.. really hate the thought of waiting any more.. Oh have spent this evening looking at clothing stores.. I want to surprise my parents in NZ when I go at Christmas.. mmm I wonder what size I will be by then!!??.. anyway.. thank you so much for your support!.. I really appreciate it.. I am hoping for good things and it is so great to know I am not alone!.. kind regards to you and thanks Kizze

oh and I love your explanation for weight loss!!.. It is no-ones business!.. "I am eating less and exercising more'.. mmm I like that!!

New here!.. hi!.. have second consult on Tuesday.
Thank you Aunt Lucy!.. I am optimistic.. but also quite nervous.. I am not sure how I will react when I wake up..and how irritable I will be if i have pain. I guess we all react differently, so reading all the different experiences helps me a lot. How long was your pre-op diet?. I haven't been given an op date yet.. but as I am going private I can pretty much say when I want to go in.. so I would like to know roughly how long they put you on the diet prior to surgery.. I have my next appointment on Tuesday and I hope to make a date then. Did you really feel FULL after a few teaspoons of liquid?.. Well.. I am 5kg lighter than I was at Christmas but I never seem to get down past 108kg (about 240 pounds).. I am currently 110kg.. (242).. so I am looking forward to getting down to the low hundreds!. ok I am waffling now!! ha.. a habit of mine thank you again for replying!. I have a feeling I will be a daily regular to this site!!..

New here!.. hi!.. have second consult on Tuesday.
hey everyone. I am so happy I found this site today. I have been researching the 'band' for some time now and have found a wonderful hospital to have it done. I have had my blood tests etc done.. I have a second consult on Tuesday.. hopefully to arrange a date.. Personally I would be in on Friday!.. Anyway, am feeling really good about being in control again and taking 'care' of my band!!.. I am not telling any friends and family (aside from my Parents bless them).. so when I go home from Christmas there SHOULD be a little less of me! .. how exciting!.. I decided that this year is MY year. I have dental braces... and soon my band.. I am so excited to finally meet myself again and find out what I am really like as a regular person again!.. I hope to make new friends on here.. and hope I can give support too. I know it is going to be a tough road.. but I am ready for it!!..
