    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I'm with you! the first two days were so painful i had instant regrets but the nurses were so amazing. i had to stay 2 and a half days in the hospital. now im just about two weeks out and down about 20 lbs. its WILD. i have to remind myself that this takes so much time to adjust. i still dont know how to differentiate the sensations in my new stomach! its so weird but i too have no real cravings which is such a welcome relief! we got this!

Do and do not eat foods.

Very specifically told no carbonation, alcohol, bread/pasta/rice/beef in first 6-9 months because your stomach cannot digest those like your old once yet.

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I had my surgery on the 20th so I am exactly one week out! i was in the hospital two and a half days which was unexpected but absolutely necessary. teh first two days had very rough moments but hte nurses who cared for me could not have been better. ive been off pain meds since saturday which is nice. its hard not to scratch at incision glue its so itchy! my emotions are bit scambled but not terrible. hard for me to sleep and hit protein goal but at only one week out thats not bad. each day gets better

    Sleeve

i have heard that. i think warmer or luke warm liquids go down easier in the first few weeks. so i added broth to my liquid diet yesterday and that was good.

    Sleeve

I had mine on July 20 and stayed in hospital for almost three days pain is a whole lot better than the first two days my god it was agony. But nurses are angels and now being at home is nice. I’m trying to sip every 15 minutes one tiny med cup worth of water or protein shake and it’s hard to tell what is what . I still get a somewhat painful inner burp pain but it’s normal.

  17. I believe that not everyone needs to know about this kind of private thing. its not about shame but privacy. what we are going through is very intense both physically and emotionally/mentally. i've decided only to two trusted nonjudgemental friends and my immediate family. i don't need the extra commentary or stress. people can get very strange when the "fat" friend is no longer so. it happens all the time, not to mention people in our society feel so entitled to comment on other people's bodies, we owe them nothing. its not their business. we need to focus on ourselves. that is my take and i had gone back and forth for a while. its sad, in a way, but that why sites like this, communities of people in the same boat, are so important! we have each other! my surgery is next monday and im nervous but mostly happy to get this done so i can be healthier and get back to doing things i love!

    Pre-Op Primary Appointment

In addition to the covid test a few days before the surgery, my surgeon always has patients to a chest xray, ekg, gallbladder ultrasound and lab work. i'm getting all of that done tomorrow and my primary thinks i am a good candidate and more than healthy. enough for the surgery. she really supports this vsg as a tool and she reminded me the mental part is going to be just as important.! here we go! two weeks away!!!! getting excited for a better life!!!! being able to do so much more and with less discomfort!

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

hi there. i totally understand everyone's frustration and fear about surgery being cancelled, but people are dying every day. my coworker lost her young husband and now she's a single mom to a one year old baby. so it sucks if we have to get reschedule, i know thats a strong possibility and my surgery is july 20th but i try to keep in mind that there are worse things that other people fighting covid are facing. just a perspective. i wish us all the best!

    Exercise for loose skin

That is really unkind. you've lost weight and gotten healthier. I'm sorry they aren't being more supportive, you have so much to be proud of! be kind to yourself.
  25. hey! i've been thinking about it a lot. i think the sleeve is very successful for so many people so i'm going to stick with it. many people don't have problems so i'm trying not to overthink it and expect the worst, ya know? best of luck to you too!!! keep me posted :) rooting for you!
