July 2020 Surgery anyone?
Congratulations everyone! It is truly thanks to everyone on here that I was able to stay involved and engaged for this journey! It's not easy but I feel great! I'm not in w"one"derland yet, but I hope (if I can break this stall) I will be there before summer! I need to work out...but this pandemic and not going to the gym has really stalled me on that. Let's see if I can get motivated by your success! Thank you all!

Bariatric multivitamin
I just looked and Viactiv is Calcium Carbonate. Do you know why we need Calcium Citrate instead? (I love Viactiv caramel flavor!) Thank you!!

social life?
I think after three months, I was (with careful planning) able to go out and have drinks and appetizers with friends. I would order a shrimp cocktail or seared ahi or even chicken wings (naked) and a martini, or a glass of wine which I sipped very slowly. I even went out for mexican food and ordered shrimp fajitas and ate just the shrimp and refried beans. Okay, it took three meals to eat all of the shrimp and beans...I took home the leftovers! Now, I bring a carb smart tortilla in my purse, so I can make a little shrimp taco...YUM!! If you host the event, no one would notice if you were drinking flavored water or something other than alcohol and you could make sure there was something you could eat, if not freely, at least without fear! So host a game night with your neighbors!

Need advice
This is what my surgeon gave me...your mileage may vary! Protein shakes, Milk 1% or less (I recommend Fair Life), Greek Yogurt in addition to the clear liquids (Bariatric Clear Liquids, Broth, De-caf Coffee or Tea, Diet Jello). I highly recommend looking into the Bariatric Hot Cocoa from this site or Amazon. I also recommend Swanson Sipping Bone Broth at this stage. Good luck! Post Op Diet & Boot Camp.pdf

How long were your preop diets?
It all depends on the surgeon and I think also how much weight you have to lose. I had a "fairly" low BMI (I was self pay in order to get the surgery with my BMI). My surgery was cancelled 6 days into my two week liquid pre-op diet. I called and told them I would take any date and do it as out patient, if necessary. They didn't hold out a lot of hope, so I had a great weekend of mexican and italian food, then they called on Monday and said I could have the surgery on Thursday, so I told them what had happened and they said "Just no more cheating!" And it was fine. I would do what you can to stay on track with what the surgeon originally told you and then plead your case when the office re-opens. Good luck!

10 days post sleeve. Sick of all soft/pureed food
Don't yell at me, but my nutritionist told me ANYTHING could be a puree if you chew it well enough before you swallow.

50 Pounds Gone
LOL! I didn't realize that this was me! It was three months ago and I have lost 16 pounds in the last three months. So a total of 66. I'm feeling great and although the weight loss has slowed down CONSIDERABLY, 16 pounds in three months is still good for me. Over the last three months I have stalled more than I have consistently lost...but I have gone down 2 pant sizes and feel amazing! Good luck everyone!!

I had the same thing, and assumed it was still trapped gas. I took some Tylenol and felt better the next day. Good luck!

Dreaded STALL
I've gotten to the point (Gastric Sleeve, just over 6 months out) that the stalls happen more often than consistent loss. But even still, it does break and then I lose for a few days and then I stall again. But I stay focused on the fact that this is a marathon, not a sprint and I'm still losing!!

4 week creamy blended soups

No Insurance coverage for weight loss surgery.
I went to Dr Shillingford in Boca Raton (or West Palm) and paid $10,800 out of pocket. I financed it with Care Credit, at about 14% interest...which seemed like a lot, so I paid it down as quickly as possible!

Plastic surgery painful?
There are several informative threads going on right now - Plastic Surgery Countdown is On, ChubRub's Plastic Surgery Thread and Jan Surgery Countdown - all pretty well balanced.

Hair loss???
I'm six months post op and have a CRAZY amount of hair (my hairstylist says at least double psi than a normal person). She thinks I could stand to lose a little hair! I have been taking biotin and using collagen peptide protein in my coffee each day to get an extra boost of protein, as well as the collagen benefits for my hair, skin and nails. I don't know if it's helping, but it's certainly not hurting! Good luck!

Fell off track 8 months post opp.
I (who am only six months out) would say no to the liquid diet. I think you need to go back to focusing on protein and water.

Today’s win

Regain Realization
Great post! I'm only 6 months out, but I will definitely keep this in mind!

Clothes etc
SO many say to donate and put it behind you, but I have lost and regained too many times to make a clean break! I am going to keep the clothes i truly LOVE (mostly professional wear) and give away anything that I dislike or can easily replace. I will just store them in a trunk or in the guestroom until I am SURE that I will not need them again!
