Every time I go to a class with the Surgeons
They make me rethink having the band. They are so PRO gastric bypass here. They do the band too, but they prefer the bypass. They keep pushing that you loose so much faster with bypass than with the band. They say if you want the band, they'll do the band, but gosh I just feel pressured to do the bypass. I don't wanna do the bypass because 1) I wanna have another kids 2) I don't wanna be dependant on Vitamins for the rest of my life 3) I don't want my stomach actually cut up 4) I don't wanna worry about getting really sick later on and having a hard time because of the bypass 5) I don't wanna get to a size 1, I just wanna be healthy and if healthy is a size 12 then that's what I wanna be MY ONLY reason for even thinking about bypass is the rate of the weight loss!! Please remind me why YOU chose the band over bypass.

Support Group Meeting tonight.
Cool, thanks!!

What foods can you NOT eat since the surgery?
I'm concerned about the drinking part too. When I workout or it's hot, I can easily gussle a bottle of water (that's pretty much all I drink).

Support Group Meeting tonight.
What should I expect? I was told I have to attend 3 of them before surgery.

Mastopexy Question
Thanks!! I will definately need a lift and I would also want some implants at some point.

For those of you that are at or near goal.
How has your personality changed? I ask this because last year I dropped 50lbs (which I have now gained all of it back) and I could tell a huge difference in my personality. I was more outgoing, more sexual with my husband, just an all over happier person. Now that the weight is back on, I am back to my not so outgoing, not so sexual, and unhappy personality. My husband was in Iraq when I lost the weight and the first thing he commented on when I picked him up was that I was different (in a good way).

What foods can you NOT eat since the surgery?
Unfortunately I love rice. LOL I would rather have baked, broiled, or grilled food than fried food, so I think I am good there. My main eating problem is I just eat too much food, that's why I think the Lap Band will work great for me.

Wondering how long you waited...
I too want another child (we have a 6 year old daughter), but wanna get the band and loose first. I too have PCOS and don't ovulate regularly, but when I loose weight I start ovulating more regular, so I'm hoping I won't have any problems getting pregnant one I loose. My husband will be going to Iraq AGAIN next Jan, so we'll start trying after he gets home, so that gives me plenty of time to get to where I wanna be first. The surgeon said she would prefer 12 months out and there won't be any issues with me having the band, they will just unfill it completely while pregnant.

How soon should I start loosing before surgery?
Thanks, my husband is military, so I have Tricare. My BMI is 43, so I'm pretty sure I'll get approved. The surgeon told me that the wait here on post is only about 3 months from the time you go to the seminar, so I'm hoping she is right. I do know one lady here on post that had gastric bypass that took her 18 months to get everything done, but I think they have more testing and stuff to do to get approved.

Mastopexy Question
My husband asked me the other night when we were talking about the PS I would have done when I had lost enough weight. Do you still have feeling in your nipples when you have a Mastopexy? I didn't know the answer, so here I am asking the experts.

What foods can you NOT eat since the surgery?
Can you eat stuff like fries in a small amount? What about when you go out to eat, what kinds of things do you get? So salads upset your stomach?

How soon should I start loosing before surgery?
My appointment with my PCM isn't till next week. I don't wanna loose too much before we submit to Tricare for the surgery because I wanna make sure I am still eligible without comorbitities. I wanna start loosing now to get ahead of the game though.

One Year Anniversary
Congratulations, you look amazing!!! You are an inspiration to me!!

Optifast instead of Lap Band?
This has been my biggest problem. I can work my butt off and loose the weight only to have it come back plus some. In Feb last year, I was down to 230 and now I am back up to my highest weight of 280 again. I have tried so many times, but I ALWAYS gain it back and then some. I have thought about surgery for years, but I always came back to "if I can loose weight by myself, then why have the surgery". Now I have the answer, the answer is "if I have the surgery, I can loose weight and NOT gain it back". I am so ready to have a new life!!!

friends and wls
I have told very few people (the ones I knew would be supportive) that I am having the surgery. I told dh I don't want him telling his dad's side of the family at all until after the surgery because I don't wanna deal with the "are you sure you are making the right decision?" comments.

Medicines with Asprin in them
Can you take medicine with Asprin in it after the Lapband? At the seminar the surgeon was saying you can NEVER have meds with asprin in them again because you can easily develop an ucler after the surgery, but I am thinking that is only for gastic bypass patients. Am I correct in assuming that?

P.C.O.S and Metformin (glucophage)
I was on Glucophage for about two years for PCOS. It did NOTHING for me (except make me sick to my stomach everyday). I also had a problem with my bloodsugar dropping quickly while I was on it. I came of it cause I hated it and haven't had that happen since.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
Oh my, I have so many since I have been overweight since elementary school. My cousin use to sing this song to me when we were little "fatty and skinny laying on the bed, fatty rolled over and skinny was dead". I will never forget her singing that to me one day when we were laying on her bed. Funny thing is she is now overweight herself. LOL One guy in high school told me my thighs looked like a Thanksgiving Turkey. My uncle and cousin pointed out to me at my cousins wedding that I have SUCH a beautiful face (that one really hurt). I can't even count the number of times dh (also when we were just dating) has gotten in a fight over someone saying I was a fatass or something like that.

Going to the seminar tonight.
Thanks for all the good info.. I am leaning more and more towards the Lapband, it just seems safer to me.

Going to the seminar tonight.
OH and she said from the time you attend the seminar till surgery is about 3 months which makes me VERY happy!!!!

Going to the seminar tonight.
I'm back from the seminar. It was very informative, but I still have questions. The surgeon does both gastric bypass and lapband, so she talked about both. She is more for gastric bypass than lapband. She was saying that 20% of Lapband surgeries have to have a revision and sometimes end up with gastric bypass anyway. She said that gastric bypass patients loose weight alot faster than with the lapband. I asked about getting pregnant after having the surgery and she said you can with either surgery, but she would suggest lapband if you are planning on getting pregnancy cause there are less complications. I'm so confused. I wanna loose weight quickly, but I don't wanna be a size 1 or even a size 6. I just wanna be a healthy weight and feel good about myself. I definately need some insite from all of you here that have already had your surgery. Tell me why you chose Lapband over gastric bypass!!

Going to the seminar tonight.
What should i expect? All I was told was I could go to the seminar before I see my PCM to get a referral and they gave me the date, time, and place. I am clueless as to what I will learn.
