I used Blossom in August 2020. I have Anthem Blue Cross insurance. Before I agreed to the vsg, Blossom took my insurance info. I paid $9000. To date, my insurance has paid over $10k. I had a great experience with Blossom. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

I believe my initial call to Blossom was May-June timeframe. Surgery date was August 2020. The reason my surgery date took a few months was because they had a back log due to being shut down with Covid. I highly recommend using Blossom.

BSNJ got a reaction from GreenThumb in February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
It is normal to be scared. It is a permanent procedure, but that is what I needed. I had the sleeve done in August 2020. No complications and glad I did it. The procedure is a tool, but you have to work on putting healthy food in your body. If you follow the food guidelines, you will not fail. We all make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up when it happens. Just reset and start again. Your health is a life time commitment. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

BSNJ got a reaction from niabo in Beginning BMI 35 or under
I am 5'4 and 61 years old. Starting weight was 195 (BMI 35). I chose the sleeve and paid out of pocket. Went to Blossom in Las Vegas. The day after surgery I had a 5 hour flight and then a 2 hour car ride home. I did the trip alone and no one knows I had surgery. I was sore, but not in severe pain. I just took it slow. The day of surgery weighed 183. Monday was 12 weeks post op for me. I lost a total of 42 lbs. The weight loss has been slow. I track my Water, calories and Protein very day. I only record my weight once a week, but do weigh myself every day. Adding real food back into your diet is a scary and slow process. You are not sure what your new stomach will tolerate. Remember to put the fork down and push your plate away after the first bite. Give your stomach time to see how it reacts to what you just put in it. All I can say is go slow and be kind and patient with yourself. This is a marathon, not a sprint. You need to eat a little because your energy will be low. It is ok to take a nap during the day. It is a weird feeling not to be hungry. You will hear this from everyone - sip, sip, sip. You need to put fluids into your body. Dehydration will put you in the hospital. I know they want to you drink 64 oz, but that is unrealistic in the beginning. I now can take a normal drink of water (no gulping). Let me know if you have any specific questions. Good luck with your journey.

Overall using Blossom was a great experience. They really took care of you. Having drivers pick you up for all apts took the stress out of allot of the process. Everything was discussed with you (also watch their videos) and there were no surprises. Surgery day is the worst. Walking that day really helps. Also, take the medication they give you if you need it. They give you a bag with all of the items you will need for after the surgery. My biggest worry was my five hour flight home and then a 2 hour car ride. For me, I had no big issues. I just took my time. Each day you feel a little better. I choose Blossom because I would not qualify for bariatric surgery thru my insurance. My BMI was 35. I am 10 weeks post op now and down a total of 40 lbs since I started my pre-op diet. It is crazy to think I have lost that much weight and I am not hungry. Let me know if you have any addtional questions.

I am 5 weeks post op and still cannot get 64 oz of fluids in. Sipping is a full time job. For me, the shakes are too thick and sweet. I loved them prior to surgery. Regarding fluids, I try to drink at least one bottle of protein Water per day. That helps with the Fluid and protein intake. All of my protein comes from food. I have not had any issues with food. I take small bites, chew alot, put the fork down and push the plate away. I wait a few minutes and take another bite It takes a long time to eat. I make sure my food is good protein. I eat only high protein food (crab cakes, flounder, shrimp, chicken, etc.) Fresh seafood is expensive, but I am only eating a small portion. It lasts for several meals. I do not eat any starches or vegetables. My pouch can't hold much so I choose only protein. Hang in there. Each day gets easier.

I had anxiety twice where I had tears rolling down my face, body shaking and my BP went up high. Both times was when I was waiting to go into the OR for the scope and then vsg. I had my procedure done at a surgery center. The waiting area and OR doors were only a few feet away. Even time the doors opened, more fear set it that it was my turn. When it was finally my turn, there was no time to panic. The mask was on my face and I was out. I am 8 days post op. No regrets doing the surgery.

I am in the Hyatt now. Having surgery on Monday. I felt safe regarding covid with all aspects of this trip (airport, hotel and Blossom). Blossom has a great program. They really care about each patient.

Thanks Your personal take on the process will be helpful. Others have said to pack Protein Shakes and Protein Water. The hotel is not near any shopping area you can walk to. Also, who wants to walk in the Vegas heat. I wasn't going to check my bag for the flight. Once I heard about taking an Uber to Target or Walmart for supplies, I figured it is easier to just pack them and check my bag. My fear would be that the stores may not have the flavors I like. There is enough to worry about for this trip. I also decided not to take a friend with me. With Covid, they are not allowed at Blossom or the surgery ctr. They would be stuck in the hotel room the entire time. That is also a lot time to ask someone to take off of work. Blossom will provide a companion for me for the night of the surgery. They will make sure I walk during the night. Two things I constantly hear - walk as much as possible to remove the gas and sip, sip, sip so you stay hydrated. I am sure the rest of the time I will want to sleep. I will be thinking of you next week and hope all goes well for you.

I am going to Blossom mid August. Similar to you, I am traveling cross country from NJ. My biggest concern is the 5 hr flight and then a 2 hr car ride home. I have 6 weeks until I leave. I will let you know how things go.
