Hand washing a car without getting winded or tired!
Also there was a ton of honking and catcalls but I’m not sure if it was for me or for the car itself 😂

I went SCUBA diving for the first time in 2 years (thanks, COVID), and I need at least 4, probably 6 fewer pounds of weight to maintain neutral buoyancy. My air consumption is a little better too, although it was freakishly, unaccountably good to begin with.

It's been a while since I did an inventory of my NSV's.
I'm 2.5 years post op, but I can still appreciate all the little things:
Not only fitting into regular-width tall boots, but wearing jeans with knee-high woollen socks over them while wearing said boots AND still have room to spare. I used to hate it whenever Mr. tried to pick me up - as in lift up off the ground, not hit on at the bar! - (dude, I'm 235 lbs, you will embarrass both you AND me in your attempts)...now I find any excuse for him to do it...including jumping onto him at random moments. Sharing (and fitting into) the often fought-over arm chair in the house with the Kid at the same time quite comfortably. Feeling 110% confident in walking around buck naked (in front of Mr. lol). No more quick dashes to my closet after showers (i do a slow catwalk now...lol), no more towels or sheets or strategically placed hands to cover myself. The lights are ON alot during sexy-times hahahahahhaha. Seemingly endless amounts of energy, a perpetually good mood, and an overall attitude of "Sure, let's do it" (whatever it may be)....vs. being tired all the time, cranky and annoyed alot, and saying NO to most things. oh, and ...CLOTHES.

Hell yeah to saying good bye to leg chafing. It still surprises me when I realise my thighs don’t rub together anymore. It happened today as I was rushing about in jeans & thought somethings not right - oh yeah, my thighs don’t touch anymore. No drag, no swooshy sound effects of rubbing fabric. No pills on the inner upper legs of pants. No redness, no rashes, no discomfort, ...
It’s the little things that mean so much. 😁😁😁

The first time I noticed mine I actually made an appointment with my doctor because I felt a “lump” that hadn’t been there before. 🤦‍♀️ I hadn’t ever had a protruding collarbone so I had NO clue.

Being able to buy clothes "off the rack" rather than having to go to a DXL store. It's amazing the difference in cost. When I started the journey I had a 56-inch waist, which non-Big&Tall stores just don't stock.
I've been reluctant to invest a whole lot of money in clothes as I've been losing weight, as ideally I will continue to lose sizes for a bit longer, so why pay for clothes I'll (hopefully) only wear for a couple months. It's like the reverse of being a kid/teenager, when Mom would get frustrated that I outgrew clothes yet again.
However, at some point the old clothes start looking awful, like you're wearing a tent... not to mention heavy and uncomfortable AF. Being in a transition state with sizes and not wanting to spend money, I went to Wal-Mart and bought some $10.97 jeans... first time wearing jeans in over 30 years. Hard to wrap my brain around it... the jeans weren't unbearably uncomfortable. I was able to buy 44-inch waist and now several weeks later, they're already feeling a bit loose. My next shopping trip, it might be 42.
They had a bunch of dress shirts on clearance that rang up at $2. The XL (down from 3XL) fit easily. At that price, who cares if they fall apart in a few washes.
A whole new world: Being able to shop clothing sales and clearance. That hasn't been part of my life in many many decades.

Surgery was the best medical decision I ever made! I just wish I had done it 5 years sooner!!
It's embarrassing to admit how much I was obsessed with food prior to surgery. I was at a fast food drive thru at least once a day, if not twice a day. Parties were more about the food than they were about the people. Vacations were planned around what restaurants we would we go to.
Not only do I have a brand new body, but I have a brand new mind! Now that I'm not thinking about food all of the time, I have this mental clarity that allows me to think about things that truly matter. I'm a better mother, better wife, and better friend.
I truly love myself -- both inside and out!!!

    So in a nutshell

    Before liquid diet 330
    Day of surgery 319 09/19/11
    CW 165
Plastics: brachio/fleur 5/21/2021 (weight after plastic, no idea lol)
I am reaching my ten year mark in September! I just got rid of my excess tum and flying squirrels.
I thought I'd stop here and see what's new and get some comfort and info.

So DS is revised from the original, I have been doing fine with mine all this time but I wonder if I have to worry about anything now that I have the older procedure. How is everyone who had DS doing? Do I need to watch out for anything?

Is there a plastic thread? I can't seem to find what I need. I just want to chat w people who got what I got and can tell me what they went through.

Also, I'm here to give support as well for anyone who has any long term questions

    Hugs and healing!

My insurance qualified me on my starting weight, not my weight on the date of surgery. My surgeon's office confirmed this with me on my first visit. I believe that is true for most if not all insurance companies, so double check with yours!

In addition, gastric bypass can mess with the way the meds are absorbed, so talk to your surgeon and have them discuss with your psychiatrist to see if your meds need to be adjusted to compensate for that. I have bipolar disorder and the surgeon and my psychopharmacologist both recommended sleeve over bypass for this reason. But I agree with @catwoman7 that it could just be hormones. Either way, definitely talk with your surgery center and get help if you're feeling depressed.

Was the 38.6 a snapshot in time? If you can find a higher recorded weight, you could argue that the 38.6 was when you were dieting and that you weren't able to maintain it on your own.

most people don't feel hunger after surgery - at least for a few months, anyway - but some do. It's sometimes acid or thirst mimicking hunger. OP: I'd let your clinic know if you haven't already (Virginia: since you're in therapeutic case management, it sounds like you already have). For some people it could be true hunger, but for many it turns out to be one of the two issues I mentioned. To the OP: many clinics put their patients on a PPI for the first 3-6 months post-surgery, both VSG and RNY patients. Yours may do that if it turns out to be an acid issue. I'd just let them know what's going on and see what they suggest.
P.S. Virginia - I think Arabesque was responding to the original poster rather than you. Since you are in therapeutic case management, then they're probably already trying to figure out what's going on in your situation. She wasn't trying to diagnose you. Arabesque is a long-time, valued member here who's been very helpful to new people. She was responding to the OP here....and I agree with much of what she was saying (i.e. that it's sometimes head hunger).

One of the best pieces of advice I've been given is "Before you eat something bad, eat something good". What that meant was, don't force yourself to choose between starvation and eating junk. If you're hungry, eat - but eat something Protein rich and nutrient dense. Allow yourself to eat when hungry, just eat on-plan rather than choosing candy or chips. So a eat a cup of light yogurt rather than ice cream. Eat a serving of string cheese rather than chips. Eat a Protein Bar (with good nutritional composition) if you're in a situation where you can't take the time to eat something more substantial. A boiled egg with salt and pepper is a filling snack. sugar-free pudding can quiet a sweet-tooth.
You have to plan ahead to make sure you have something on-plan to eat. Because if you're like me, if you wait until you're starving, you'll eat whatever is close at hand. Don't beat yourself up, there's a learning curve to this. It will take some time to incorporate your new eating habits into your daily life. Persistence is more important than perfection.

Well. I got my wls at 48, right before I turned 49 last year. I'll be 50 in August, and you can darn well bet I'll get plastic surgery if I feel I need it. I've lost almost 150 and would like to lose another 60, so I am definitely doing to have a very saggy stomach and my legs are bad already. I'm not as worried about how I look as how I feel and if that skin is in the way I will get surgery.
As for age, I feel very young. People don't usually think I'm close to 50, although I think I look older now that I've lost so much weight, but I don't care. Age is just a number and I feel very young at heart.
38 is certainly not old. I got pregnant at 38 and had my son when I turned 39!
    You're just getting started!

Talk to your doctor about how to personalize your food intake. I used brewed cacao and drinking three a day is actually enjoyable for me. They taste so good. With a little flavored Creamer and unsweetend almond milk. I am down 23lbs my first week. I hope to match that next week when I can get into soft solids.
