I don't think this is silly. In fact, anything that motivates you and will help you does not seem silly to me at all! I think it's great that you're thinking ahead and coming up with ideas outside the box (or closet, for that matter) to help yourself. Unfortunately, as I gained weight, I also kept moving across the country. Two cross-country moves fairly effectively purged me of my bigger clothes, but that just meant that I instead raid my girlfriend's closet as I'm losing weight! 😂

I can't say that my symptoms were that severe at all. I really had no preconditions, though I was a bit sensitive. After surgery, I was experiencing so much more anxiety and was just a constant live wire. My family was tiptoeing around me, and I just felt terrible all the time. I was crying daily and overly what felt like literally nothing. No matter how much I wanted to, I could not stop.
Finally, when I went to my general practitioner for a checkup and to go over my surgery, etc., I asked her for Prozac. She agreed to let me at least try it, and it has been a world of difference in my life. Quality of life on my own and with my family went way, way up.
I think it could be related, or it could not, but either way, the only solution is to seek help. If he refuses to take his med, then I would say commitment might be the only way until he can get stabilized.

plain.sight got a reaction from Lily66 in When does energy return?
I'm kind of with biginjapan on this one, too. I really did not experience much lack of energy after the first couple of days. However, my girlfriend had the sleeve surgery a week after mine, and I had to run the house (the boys can't really take care of themselves) while she was away and while she was recovering, so it was almost that I didn't really have a choice either. As the weight comes off, too, I'm finding more energy and starting to realize that while I just thought I was extremely lazy (I am to an extent), I was also being weighed down so much by my weight.
I would say to keep at it, make sure you are getting your Vitamins in and your Protein, and then just keep up with the walks. I think you'll be back to feeling more like yourself soon enough.

Exercising will also build muscles, which weigh more than fat. Small fluctuations, especially when you first start working out are completely normal. Keep on the right path and keep doing the right things, and the weight will start to come off again!

I'm about 3.5 months post-op and I still struggle with this daily. I think every 1-2 minutes is a great idea, and I should try that as well. I do notice when I'm eating something heavier (red sauce, a lot of cheese, etc.) that I have to take breaks.

Just showing off my ticker because as far as I am concerned, I just reached my GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! I mean, what is 1 1/10th of a pound anyway???
This just totally made my day after a REALLY crappy week! I work for a school, my school is closed, But this week because we just gave notice we are NOT REOPENING this school year, I have been rushing around like crazy to get a certain task done. From home of course. Plus running around to get staff what they need. And my staff has been extremely difficult during this. Anyhow... last week I almost put up a post stating that I was SO CLOSE to my goal, but I didn't think I would reach it. The scale was NOT moving anymore. And I was at a healthy weight so I was coming to terms with the fact that my body might be done. Afterall, my healthy weight used to be in the 135-145 RANGE before, and while I hoped to get to 135, I was fine anywhere in that range. But this week? OMG, the stress this week was AWFUL. My ability to stop and get myself to EAT was awful. But what I DID eat was extra healthy because since I am working from home, I have been cooking throughout the week more. I mean... not just cooking a little something for me which I always do. But cooking for the family, and meals that I can partake in. Anyhow, the last 3 days I did NOT have time to cook. But I had those healthy meals to eat as leftovers when I did eat. So... after many weeks of the scale BARELY moving (up OR down), I dropped nearly 4 pounds to hit 135.1, and my goal is 135 so I am sure after I have a BM... I am already there! LMAO
How is my body doing? Overall it looks great. Still have a little jiggliness at the back of my arms and thighs. Not too bad, but need to tone. My calves are still too big for my liking. Hoping they go away, but the rest of my legs look pretty good. My face has a LITTLE loose skin/wrinkles, but not too bad. And last but not least... my c-section belly is well hidden by clothes, but that NEEDS to go away! I know I can lose a little more bellyfat above my 3 c-section scar... I did it after my 3rd baby. It will never be flat again, but I know it can be better. So... once I am in a better work from home routine, I need to try to resume my workouts. Oh... I had been doing great with workouts until early March.... but this transition to work from home has NOT left me the time I need to do them, and by the time I DO have time to workout... I need to go to bed. So, maybe after next week I can focus on that belly. But I REACHED MY GOAL WEIGHT!

@CammyC Thank you for your response. My fear was gastric leak!! I googled it too and kind of freaked myself out, but I knew gas in the shoulder was normal. I just couldn’t believe it takes my breath away. Today has been so much better. Only one spell of the pain.

I did! It wasn't discovered until I went in for surgery, but when the doctor came to talk to my family after the surgery, he asked what other surgeries I'd had because I had multiple lesions on my liver. They told him that I'd never had any other surgeries and he was both surprised and confused. As am I. When I saw him later and talked to him myself, he said he was confused but not concerned by them.

It's hard to say what is 'normal' as everyone loses at different rates. I know that I have hit a couple stalls (I'm 3 months post-op), but I can't say how long they lasted as I specifically did not weigh myself often so that I would not get discouraged by stalls or feeling like I was losing slowly. I would suggest maybe changing some of your macros around. A lot of people can get through a stall by either introducing a bit more fat (we do need some to 'clean the valves') or more carbs.
That's great! I was able to do mine locally as well, and I think that made a HUGE difference in my motivation and treatment. I just stopped by the office yesterday to buy more Vitamins, and the fact that they know my name and are friendly and personable makes a huge difference. It's such a little thing, but this is such a huge decision and difference in our lives that having a local support team of doctors is genuinely wonderful. I can't wait to hear more of your story!

I definitely fit in here! When I started my journey, I was 335 at my first consultation in June 2019. I did not do great for my first couple nutrition appointments and jumped up to my highest at 342 in August 2019. I had surgery 12/12/19 and my weight at that point (after FINALLY getting myself on track) was 314. Now, I'm 3 months post-op and have lost 60. I'm currently at 254.
I'm in a stall currently and just focusing on trusting the process. I've hit a stall in my exercise routine, but hoping I will get some good news at physical therapy tomorrow that will put me back on track.

I took clothes to go home in but otherwise, I only really used my charger, phone, and laptop. I was in for 2 nights. The first day/night was all about sleeping and just trying to wrap my head around my new life. The next day, I was on my laptop a bit to cure the boredom between walks.

plain.sight reacted to Tonya VSG Post-op in A New Life
It has been one week ago Monday (3/2) I started my journey of no return. During the first five days, I became afraid, I thought I had made a mistake. I was in pain, from one of my incisions, suffering with head hunger, and not feeling comfortable after taking my liquids; mildly lethargic, nauseated, and suffering with the worst Constipation. I felt there was nowhere for me to go mentally.
The thought came to mind to use common sense. Since Protein and pain meds can cause constipation, I chose to reduce my protein intake for one day, increase my stool softener, and increase my fluids. I also walked more, and did some reading on this site. The hospital, where my surgery was performed, provided the link to this site as a resource. The experiences of so many have truly assisted me to become unafraid, and forward moving. Thank you😘

plain.sight reacted to RobertaMSN in At my half-way point in weight loss!
Today I'm at my half-way point in my post-gastric sleeve weight loss journey! Having the surgery was the absolute best thing I've ever done for myself and my health. We can do this. Unfortunately I didn't take any before pics - was too disheartened by my then appearance but believe me I look a heck of a lot better now. And yep, I've had a couple short stalls along the way including the classic one at three-weeks that lasted a week, so for those hitting those to-be-expected occasional stalls - no worries, just keep plugging away. Good luck everyone!
