For the record - I've had periods where I didn't lose because I was eating a lot as well as times when I didn't lose for mysterious reasons while eating and exercising just as I should to lose. Quite often though the weight loss catches up. Like I won't lose for a couple weeks and then drop 5-6 pounds the 3rd week. But sometimes there isn't a catch up, but the scale at least starts moving again. Alas, all part of the process.

Hi there - the first few months are the most intense (and also exciting) time of this journey. There's so much to figure out and plan for. There's lots of great info in the pre-op section of these boards. Please feel free to PM me with any specific questions. I'm 8 1/2 months out, so my memory about all the pre-op questions/concerns is starting to fade, but I can tell you it is all SO worth it!!

I just hit 100 down this week so posting updated pics.
SO freaking happy with my results.
I love looking at everyone else's pics!
You all have helped inspire me to get where I am.
Hoping to lose a few more, but pretty darn happy where I am.
    I've gone from size 22 to a 10/12.
Oh - I took these before pics just before starting the pre-op diet, but I was already a few pounds down from my highest a few months prior...

Love this thread! I'm with you all. I don't eat diet food either. I eat foods that are yummy and enjoyable. I think that's critical to my long-term success. I do track my foods and make sure to meet Protein goals, keep carbs low, and avoid too many sweets. But yes to healthy fats! Veggies sautéed with olive oil and garlic, fatty delicious salmon, etc. One of my faves, especially after a workout is rotisserie chicken - and yes I eat the skin!
Also - while I track my eating, I don't deny myself a little extra if I'm hungry. I want to maintain a healthy relationship with food, and for me that means not depriving myself.

I'm so excited to finally get to post on this thread!!! My surgery was on December 11th. I've lost 62 lbs since surgery but 100 lbs overall!! I still have 115 lbs to go but I'm halfway there now!

I think you look great, and if you're at a weight that you've stabilized at, my thinking is that if you "diet" to lose more, you may end up gaining those last pounds back in time anyway. I've been wondering about this stuff too - I feel like I should try to eliminate all the fat that's mixed in with my extra skin before doing plastics, but I'm not sure I really want to get THAT skinny. I'm already getting comments that I shouldn't lose any more.
I'm curious to hear how your consultation goes. Please keep us posted. But I think you're definitely slim enough to do it.

Surgery was May 19 of 2014. I'm down over 120 pounds and loving life! I followed the rules exactly for the first 5 months. Ate what I was told to eat, walked each day, ect. Now I'm a little more relaxed with the rules. I still go to the gym a few times a week and eat small portions and try to get a lot of Protein but I'll have a beer once in a while and I do eat carbs.
This has been a long hard journey but I can't even put into words how much surgery has changed my life for the better. I can't wait to see what's in store for my future.

@chunkymonkey86122 I was 153 when I had my first plastics procedure, 137 at my second, and I will be 130-133ish for my last one next week. My doctor told me that as long as I was within 15% of goal, then I wouldn't mess up my results with weight loss. My boobs and stomach were the first things I had done and they look just as good now as they did before I lost 20 more pounds. I LOVE my results and I am glad I didn't wait to lose more weight first.

I became mournful and miserable. My life had no meaning…no purpose. My purpose had become feeding Charlie….my captor. Don’t get me wrong, he gave me things too…anxiety, paranoia, high blood pressure, depression, and in return I gave him my health, my happiness and my freedom. There came a day when I felt that I might suffocate myself with Charlie. I could see my life slipping away. I looked at him with loathing as we sat in silence and stuffed ourselves to the point of intoxication.

Well, the divorce is final! Let me explain. I spent 25 years in an oppressive, controlling, stifling and very demoralizing relationship with “my other half”. By other half, I mean that 250 pounds of extra body weight that all but smothered me. It somehow took on a life of its own and eventually took away mine in the process. Let’s call that other half Charlie. Charlie was a gleeful soul at first. We spent lots of time together. We had fun eating and drinking to our hearts content. Loosening our belts as they became tighter and tighter. Charlie’s philosophy was always “Go big or go home” and boy oh boy did we ever live by that principle. We did everything to extreme, extra-large pizzas smothered in extra cheese, double quarter pounders with cheese…super-sized please. As time went on we began spending all of our time together. Charlie became so possessive. It got to the point where he would not let me leave the house. I could not see my friends or visit with my family. We stayed home all the time. We did not go on dates; no movies, carnivals or concerts. “We had a big screen TV” he said…”What else do we need?” Like the devil, he seduced me in to staying home and accommodating his needs….oh and he was oh so needy!
We were indeed a TOXIC couple. One night I asked him for a trial separation. Oh, he fought like the dickens to hold on to me, playing head games and mental manipulation. I fought back. I had my weight loss surgery, I began walking, and I went back to school and slowly began taking my life back.
Charlie continued to hang around …to hold on, to tempt and entice. As I became stronger and healthier I began to see less and less of him. So today, I declare my independence! My divorce is final! Charlie my “other half” who, by the way, is most certainly not my “better” half, is officially gone and out of my life. He won’t be back. Good bye and good riddance. I realize today, that I only held on because I was afraid to let go.

I was allowed to drink full (but thin enough to drink through a straw [but don't]) liquids on day 2. But since every surgeon uses different techniques it's really important to follow your own surgeon's guidance, rather than following what others have done. I'd recommend calling your surgeon's office to ask if you can progress earlier than what they initially advised. I hope they'll agree!

Turkey burgers with low fat cheese. I eat them without a bun, and some veggies on the side.
I eat eggs a lot - a fried egg over greens or a scramble with various veggies.
I love to buy rotisserie chicken (usually a half) and have that in the fridge to cover a few meals.
I do buy lots of prepared foods, so can't help much more than this...
