Harrisburg Pa
Hello all, just checking back in to let you know how my visit with Dr. DiMarco was. After waiting over 2 hours PAST my scheduled time my husband and I finally got to meet and talk with him. He is incredibly nice and very informative! We discussed my health and even a bit about the full gastric bypass and he felt that the lapband is the best option for me. I am pretty tall and he is afraid that gastric bypass would make me too thin (imagine!). My main goal is to be healthy and to get off of all the meds. My next steps are to see the nutritionist and get pre-surgical tests done...then I get scheduled for surgery! Tas, how did your visit go? :crying:

Weight Loss
I was told by my doctor that this is an aid for weightloss. This is not like gastric bypass, you will have to work on it. Also, PLEASE do not belittle your current weightloss...It is WONDERFUL!! All weightloss is positive, even the little steps. There are going to be great weigh ins and then those that are a little on the "meh" side. Keep going~and be patient~ :frown: I am a lifetime Weight Watcher, even have appeared as a Success Story in their magazine. I have gained back 50 lbs since the magazine article and have since decided that I need help. Weight Watchers is a wonderful program, and I hope to use all that I have learned (5 years in program) to make the most of my band...once I get the darn thing that is.

Alli
My only concern is that Alli can also absorb nutrients, so with the reduced food intake you want to keep all the nutrients you can. I would advise you to ask the doctor about it first. You don't want to lose any hair or have dry skin.

An embarrassing question.
Hooray for the honesty! I know you will do great and feel so much better. Keep us posted on your progress!

Self-Pay out of the chute!
Well, I did have the initial consultation with Dr. Wieger and he confirmed I am definitely eligible for the surgery. But the surgeon I chose, Dr. DiMarco, is very busy and I do not see him until September. I am going to DisneyWorld for the first time in September so the timing is ok with me, I just will be at my heaviest in all of my pics which is depressing. I was 'kinda sorta hoping' I would be able to get through the process this month in order to lose those initial pounds before the trip, but oh well. I guess the wait is for the best as I would not want to have complications leading up to the Disney trip..especially when airfare is non-refundable!

Harrisburg Pa
I saw Dr. Wieger today, he was extremely nice. This was my consult to determine if I qualified or not and I do. I have the surgical consult set up with Dr. DiMarco, but it is not until September...he is booked! Also, I am self-pay and they charged me 200 for today's visit...OUCH!

Weight Watchers?
Hi all! I go for my surgeon consult tomorrow and am very excited  I have been on WW for several years, in fact I was a Success Story in the Magazine (June 2006). My highest weight was 315 and I had lost down to 185...I have since put 60+ back on. WW is a wonderful program and thousands of people have found permanent success. Myself, however, need help to keep the pounds off and am going to have lapband surgery. My health is in jeopardy and I can't keep doing this to myself. I intend to continue with WW after banding, I like being a cheerleader for others. :smile2:

You know you are a bandster when....
LOL!! My sister had gastric bypass and calls her boobs "chesticles"

Still don't know if I'm full or what
I hope someone who has had the surgery can answer you Did you have any fills yet? Maybe you are due for another?

I meet with Dr. Wieger next week. Not sure which surgeon I will get. The office staff seem nice but sometimes distracted with their own conversations.

Hello from PA
Hi all, I live in Enola (just West of Harrisburg, PA). I have started the process with Dr. DiMarco but haven't yet met him. I got my blood work done this morning and will be seeing my 'regular' Dr. next Tuesday. I am a self-pay so I am hopeful that my wait will be much shorter. Hopefully I can get banded in August, but we'll see.
