I'm going there. Had my initial meeting with Insurance person, followed by meeting with Dr Wieger. I have started my six month supervised diet through them and met with the Nutritionist this week. So far so good. Meet with the surgeon in two weeks.

I had my surgery with Dr. Currie there and they are pretty good- the doc is nice, and the office staff is lovely, but with the exception of getting back to you in a timely manner. Like today, I was frieking aout gaining a few pounds, and wanted to come in for a fill a week earlier than I was supposed to, and they were to get back to me today. I even called midday to remind them, but they did not call. This is not the first time.

I meet with Dr. Wieger next week. Not sure which surgeon I will get. The office staff seem nice but sometimes distracted with their own conversations.

I had Dr. Davidson, he was GREAT!!!! plus he's SUPER SEXY!!!!!, I had my lapband put in on June 24th may sure you WALK WALK WALK

I'm having Dr. Davidson also. I'm four months into my six month diet and it can't be over soon enough. I'm anxious to go through with it.

I saw Dr. Wieger today, he was extremely nice. This was my consult to determine if I qualified or not and I do. I have the surgical consult set up with Dr. DiMarco, but it is not until September...he is booked! Also, I am self-pay and they charged me 200 for today's visit...OUCH!

Finally, I get to see Dr. DiMarco on Tuesday Sept 2!

Good luck AngieAngel. I'm having my final weigh in for the six month diet there on Thursday, Sept, 4th. I'm anxious to get it over with and move to the next stage.

Hello all, just checking back in to let you know how my visit with Dr. DiMarco was. After waiting over 2 hours PAST my scheduled time my husband and I finally got to meet and talk with him. He is incredibly nice and very informative! We discussed my health and even a bit about the full gastric bypass and he felt that the lapband is the best option for me. I am pretty tall and he is afraid that gastric bypass would make me too thin (imagine!). My main goal is to be healthy and to get off of all the meds.

My next steps are to see the nutritionist and get pre-surgical tests done...then I get scheduled for surgery!

Tas, how did your visit go? :crying:

I had my final weigh in yesterday and it went well. Now I'm waiting for Insurance approval. I'm sure this time will drag even longer than the six months diet but I know I'm closer.

Angie,

I live in harrisburg and was referred to Dr. DiMarco and, like you, will be self pay. Do you mind sharing what it cost and if they have payment plans?

Thanks!

Rock,

I had my surgery last October and fortunately it was covered by insurance. Before I was approved I asked for an out of pocket price and I believe it was about $12,500. I don't know about payment plans. Just call and ask over the phone, they are very nice. Good luck....

Thanks! I have Health America insurance and I called last year to inquire of coverage and they have an exclusion for all bariatric procedures..as you can imagine i have a lot of questions and find it easier t0 ask someone direct...do you mind sharing how long you were in the hospital and the recovery time of when you could go back to work? i appreciate your feedback

thanks, tim

My surgery was on a Thursday, out of hospital Friday morning and back to work on Tuesday, could have gone back on Monday if I wanted. Very little pain except I was forced to sleep on my back for about five days or so. That was hardest part.
