Hey, I would like a buddy to keep me accountable too. I am from washington, but i got banded by dr. kirshenbaum in denver. I am currently in denver today for my 2nd fill. It looks like we started out pretty much the same weight. how tall are you? ~Jade

So I flew into denver, co today. I'm getting my 2nd fill tomorrow with Dr. Kirshenbaum. I know this is a little last minute, but I was hoping to maybe meet someone else to was banded by him.. I was banded 6/3 and Ive lost almost 50 lbs. I would like to meet others who also have been banded and see how things are going and compare a little. The thing is, I'm flying out to phx tomorrow night and have to be at the airport by 8pm. Just an idea, I should have thought it before hand. Here my # in case you want to call 360-751-7164 =) Gina

wow! everyone is doing awesome!! Thanks for replying, I guess I have that fear that I am the one who isn't losing the right amount, or i am going slow.. I dont have the right amount of restriction yet, so i cant wait until I do. =) Please keep me in form of how everyone is doing, also if you have any more tips let me know! Thanks!

Okay, so today is my 4 month band-anniversary (banded 6/3) ive lost 46 lbs total (including pre op diet)... I started out at 303lbs.. My preop surgery weight was 290.. Now Im down to 257.. So being banded ive lost 33lbs. Is this good or normal? Im going for my 2nd fill on 10/16- i only have 3.8cc's now.. I can eat more than 1/2-1 cup of food.. I dont know if this is because im not that restricted or did I expand my pouch? How will you know? Thanks

try using plastic barbells.. one of mine wasnt healing good until i got these plastic barbells from hot topic. i actually think they are tounge barbells but whatever, they work and they are cute!! i also like the fact that they are flexible..

it sounds like they are trying to take your money without giving you service. I would threaten to report them. Also talk to the manager of the place about the sect. person. Then after making a big fuss, find a better fill place! =( sorry

um he said to use them so you arent consitpated after/during surgery... it isnt that bad.. Before surgery i had chicken and veggies a lot..and cheese on EVERYTHING lol..

I was banded on 6/3.. I was really super nervous, but everything turned out great! My friend went with me and she told me she would do everything i had to do [besides the surgery] while we were there.. Meaning she eats what I eat, she goes where I go.. HAHA you'll see the funiess about that when you get told you need to empty your tank..She did it too! It was a great bonding experience.. Maybe thats a little too much info though. =) I went back 7/18 for my first fill and it was the strangest experience ive ever had. I go back on 10/17 for my next fill.. Good luck to all of you

he gave me liquid viccoden, you pick up everything at the pharmacy thats in the same building down stairs [make sure you take the elevator down tot he bottom floor.. that threw me for a loop the 1st time].. You also get your rectal suppository there too..tons of fun!! I have a funny story with that ha ha.. He is a great guy, very understanding. I didnt take my pain meds on to the actual airplane.. i took one before hand... I also kept my ice pack with me and asked the airplane to let me preboard.. it was nicer that way. Any more questions just ask away.. I would love to meet anyone that i can that's been banded. Ill be in denver on october 16th-17th Regina

Its good, somedays I can eat more than others.. no it doesnt hurt anymore.

I Think I might have over heard them say your surgery date when they were on the phone yesterday! I was there all morning waiting for my ride to come pick me up. Congrats thats very exciting.. My process I was very lucky.. I basically called and talked to them and then a month later I had surgery..Not everyones process goes that smooth though. The first fill, I was super scared.. I read the threads on here, where they say that it hurts extremely bad and they had such horrible experiences that it really did scare the crap outta me. I dont suggest reading those. The needle isnt as big as I thought either. He found my port by pushing on it..Then he used a sonogram to make sure. Then he cleaned the area and stuck the needle in, put some Fluid in then told me to sit up. Which is extremely weird because the needle is sticking straight out of you! He put in another 1.8 cc when I was sitting up. So total I got 3.8cc, my pouch was really sensitve to the point were I could fill the difference of 3 drops of saline. Its really cool though. He then told me that when he pulls the needle out, it's going to be the weirdest feeling.. Which hes totally right! I dont know how to describe it, but it felt awesome/weird. It's also extremely weird to fill the fluid be put in you and back out of you. Weirdest filling I've ever experience. I imagen its kinda similar to when you have a baby move inside of you, but I've never had kids. Well have a good day. ~Jade :scared2:

Hi, I actually flew back today to get my first fill. This is my 2nd time to denver (first was the surgery). Dr. K is super nice and has a funny sense of humor. I havent checked any place in vancouver yet to do fills, I personally like the vacation time :-p ha ha. Ask away for questions..Thats what I did today at the doctors office when I met a lady there who was banded a year ago. i might not have all the answers though! =) Well Im super tired been up since yesterday. Its nap time! Look forward to more chatting. ~Jade

=) I had some fun, but I guess it wasn't what I expected. Though I hear the beer tours are great lol =). I hope to go back for my fills, but tickets are so expensive [who knows]. For now I plan on going back and forth. I am really struggling with my weight right now and getting enough protein and water in. I've been at my current weight for a few weeks now. What have you been doing?

Hi, I had dr. Kirshenbaum, he is extremley nice! My surgery went well, I had it on 6/3. I leave friday for my first fill, a little nervous, but it should be okay. I am from washington state, so, flying isnt that fun. I found denver to be a little boring, but oh well. Good luck on your surgeries.

My doctor said to follow your body signs and dont rush into things crazy. 3 weeks to heal, no more than 10 pounds, which is the equivlant of a gallon of milk.. [which i try to follow very closely]. Also I asked about intercourse and he said use judgement, don't do any crazy positions, but it's up to me whether I fell up to it...All went well. Mostly depends on the person.

I havent had my first fill yet. But the thing with the metal detectors, I am banded, and I have a fewish piercings with barbells and I have all of those in and it doesnt even set it off.

thanks! I like the suggestions so far. I also emailed my doctor's assistant and she let me know that I probably wasnt eating enough the night before and thats why I was so hungry in the morning.. I guess I gotta just choke down the Protein shake. She said I could do mushie stuff now.. I kinda went a little crazy though i got some chicken salad and some mac salad [though im not suppose to probably have that but a spoonful is okay]. I also got some egg flower Soup.. I love the protein Water from kelloggs.. I guess ill have to pick up some bananana's and try the Protein Powder again. =) Gina:rolleyes2:
