Great. Kind of the same process here. Can you fill out your stats, so people can watch your progress.

Capy - would it be possible for you to fill out your stats profile and also keep this thread up to date on your progress. You seem to be the perfect example of how "women in particular" struggle with "slow weight loss" .
Your contemporaneous progress would be great for people who are struggling, to watch. You write very well and seem to be engaged with the community, and it would be very helpful.
I for one am very interested to know if you were on a pre surgery diet, and if so how long and how much did you lose.
    luck!

I am only 3 weeks out and maybe my mind set will change later in the journey BUT I find myself a slow loser. I am not losing the same amount as EXAMPLE fatboyslim. I am also not losing around the same rate as pre op.

I find it frustrating that I came to this to be a “safe” place to talk about frustration of not dropping lbs as fast as others (I know we shouldn’t compare but we do) I am dropping lbs just not like the 5-10lbs a weekers. I’m following my plan the best I can - I am lacking the Protein. I’m having a hard time trying to drink 2 Protein Drinks to meet my goals AND eating 2 oz of protein (eating part of tuna creation pack with good culture cottage cheese to “soften” it up) I’m just insanely full.

Anyways, I get CICO , I agree with it BUT right now it’s just not going A+B= C for my body on the scale BUT I’m definitely losing inches.
Also, I’ve been spotting on and off since Monday and have had period like cramps . So I know my hormones have to be a little wonky atm. Usually during my monthly I hold Water weight 🤷‍♀️ . My face is breaking out like a teenagers too 😩 I usually have clear skin with a pimple or two during that time.

Back to the point. I find it frustrating when I see people blow the weight off and I’m doing the same thing and I look like I’m going snails pace THEN some say it’s being unrealistic to have the expectations of losing fast like others or I must be lying , making excuses etc etc etc

I am just not understanding why it’s so detrimental to others if I want to label myself a slow loser ? Or other people do? It’s keeping me from the mind frame to restrict (to only drink water at this point to drop faster), or say F it if I can’t be like Mike - why bother?.

Saying I might be a slow loser or I am one makes me feel better or at peace that I’m not melting like others 🤷‍♀️ maybe it may help others who are feeling a bit defeated that they aren’t dropping as fast

    Anyways, end of rant

It's easy to be scared because there is so much noise out there about WLS and certainly short term deviations are to be expected, but Just remember: eat less, weigh less.
The band was not really the complete answer. It works for some who use it as a tool to learn new habits, but there are now better (and easier) ways.
Trust the process. A smaller pouch is easier to fill with less food. Just make it the right food at the right intervals, and you will be good to go.
    luck!

    Thanks for your support, truly.
I've actually asked more than one poster to put their diet on a variety of threads. I even put my own typical diet on here as an example. I talked about burn rates, CICO, etc. What however happens is the people who have a "problem" always seem to disappear when someone tries to actually get to the root of the problem. This then leaves other people not knowing what is really happening, and as such puts doubts in their minds about what they can expect.
Interesting enough, where you do see people "fess up" is on posts where individuals say "I've lost control" or "how do I get back". that's the reality of this entire situation. Many people are actually in the process of "losing control" or on their way "up in weight" but they mistakenly cloud it in "it's not my fault". They don't get the help they need, and 10 other people feel like their chances are futile.
Part of the problem is also what really constitutes a "slow loser". I would think it would be anyone who loses less than 3-4 lbs per week. I.e. if you are losing 3-4 lbs per week, than don't worry, its all good. If on the other hand you are not losing that much, then lets all talk intelligently and cordially about what may be going on, so we may help.

I was actually surprised when my surgery/Nut group kept telling me "don't worry about calories, just worry about volume". It's a very proactive university based operations, which seems to be on the very cutting edge of the craft. So far it is working incredibly well. As such, here is the Post 6 week to 3 month plan:
Diet plan: Three structured meals a day (B,L,D)
    A meal consists of:
2-3 oz protien (weigh after cooking)
    1-2oz cooked or raw veg.
    * Portion size will gradually increase over time, but remember to stop eating when you feel content or satisfied, do not overfill. Remember to eat slowly chew well to allow yourself to feel full, before you take the next bite.
Protein: there are no restrictions, but wait 3 months before having steak. Eat a variety of protiens. Protien will be the focus of your diet.
Vegetables: eat at every meal. Limit starchy veg, like corn, peas, potatoes, Pasta. Etc..
Drink 2 Protein Shakes per day to maintain minimum 60-80 grams Protein.
Combined Fluid total of at least 64 oz daily, no caffeine, carbs, sugar, alcohol .
    Do not skip meals.
Eat just enough, and slow enough to feel full.
Do Not drink anything from 30 minute prior, to 30 minutes after each meal. Very important!
Do not chew gum (For the rest of your life)
    Take your Vitamins and minerals.
So that's it in a nutshell. No calories defined, and I asked several times. They kept saying that if I follow the percentages (Basically 2/1 Protein over veg, with very limited starch) and eat till full, without drinking, it's a slam dunk.
So far, a lb per day like clockwork.
    luck!

It is funny, I am not a vain person in the least. I don't wear makeup (partially because I don't like it and partially because I can't see well enough to put eye makeup on any more lol). I dress OK, but I don't "dress up". My clothing style is a little on the conservative side. My hairstyle is simple and functional. Most of the time I don't even blow dry it, much less style it. I normally don't care about what anybody thinks about the way I look. But this week I have been making rounds at all of my work sites. In my main office, pretty much everyone knows I had a VSG. I didn't tell them before the surgery (well except a couple), but after a week or so back to work I really started sharing. I haven't shared so much outside of my main office. Just a few select people know outside my main office. Well yesterday... I saw a lot of people who I have barely seen since my September surgery. And oh boy did they notice my changes! I got so many amazing compliments on how great I look! And of course some were brave enough to ask what's up. But... for many I just said "I had surgery to fix some problems and now the weight is finally coming off". But it felt SO GOOD getting so much attention! And it helps that I love my new wardrobe. I was actually wearing a simple black dress from Old Navy with a pretty sweater. I don't wear dresses often, but I bought 3 a couple weeks ago that I am sure I will wear with my old "skinny" body almost back to my ideal body (well, minus the boobs... they always disappear when I am skinny lol). Today I am wearing jeans to work with a thin long sleeved sweater. I must say I like the way my body looks. I also saw the nutritionist on Wednesday. She hadn't seen me since 3-4 weeks post op and she was shocked at how good I look. Anyhow, I have been on cloud 9 all this week because of these complements! And a funny aside... one of the employees at one of the sites who works directly under me who DOESN'T know what my surgery was really for told me how someone else went to her and told her how great "her boss" looks and asked if I had that "stomach tie surgery" lol. My employee texted to share, but she still isn't sure what I had done lmao. I may tell my employee the truth next time I see her, but I thought it was very funny!

I am over 60 years old and rather sedentary by nature. So let's see, that blows the old and no exercise theory. Oh year, I have high BP and am hypoglycemic with borderline t2 diabetes . So there goes those false flags.
what I believe is, it is much "kinder" to be honest with people that you can really help, than it is to be complicit in prepetuating a false narative to appease a few people who have other issues or motives.
Holy crap, there are posts that claim individuals burn 3500 + calories per day and can't lose weight ! How do you think that resonates with an obese bed bound individual who is trying to make an intelligent decision about the rest of their life ?
So no, as long as this urban myth thread or one like it exists, I will post the science. Sorry.
And as you say, people can and should talk about their weight loss journey (I'm one of them). But this is a feedback forum, and it would seem that if you want to really help people, you have to call out the BS.
put another way: put down the bagel !

    Sorry, but No.
You are not a slow loser. You have lost 129 lbs in 12 months. You are a perfect example of how wonderfully this system works. The OP and others who obviously DO NOT FOLLOW THE PLAN state that they do "follow the plan" and can not lose weight, or even worse, put on weight. They then push this self fulfilling failure in a manner that makes people think that WLS does not work.
There is far to much good to be had with this type of surgery and follow through, to allow it to be muddled with absurd fake news about how weight loss does not run parallel with CICO.
The Slow Loser concept is a myth. You seem to be a perfect example of that. Congratulations!
