I had surgery on 12/12/19 and I dropped 20lbs right away, then another 3 over the 3rd week. But I've been stalled for over a week and a half. I decided to stay consistent with my Protein, meet my Water goals and stay on top of my Vitamins. After a couple days of this, I dropped 3lbs over night!! I know it's a small victory but after having surgery being stalled so long is worrisome. Anyone else go through this?

Fatboyslim1 got a reaction from breavsg in 6 month of diet monitoring prior to surgery
Mine required it. I was on the edge of BMI and was advised that my first appointment with the group would set my BMI for insurance purposes. I did 6 months of "training" but wasn't really concerned with weight loss (as my group follows the new science that losing weight before surgery may actually be harmful). They are of the opinion that the primary reason insurance companies make you wait 6 months, is that most people drop out.
    So stick with it.
    Luck!

I saw my pcp yesterday, and told him my BP was hovering around 95/55 and he took me off all Losartin. I was on 100 per day. I am supposed to track it over the next week. He also called for complete blood workup to check Vitamins, etc..
I've also been on BP Meds for 8-10 years.

I hear you. I think the best advice - knowing everyones body is very different of course - I have seen /used to break a stall is Intermittent Fasting, Upping my Water and Protein, lowering carbs below 30 (sometimes even Keto so more healthy fats) and if say you have been really low on calories I just upped mine and the scale moved again. Which really messes with your head. Or at least it did mine. I have PCOS, I am insulin resistant, I have endometriosis AND I am hypothyroid all four which just make me a slower loser. Its hard to wrap your head around the fact that sometimes you need more CARBS or Calories to get the scale to move... I just keep ploughing forward and then if I stall- which is ALOT- i try to mix it up. And I am here for encouragement and i hope others are too vs casting blame or suspicions on others. Life is too short for the BS and negativity. Some people get dealt a crappier hand and its okay to get bummed out by that because you are human and have good days and bad days and thats OK. I tend to be very glass half full but every once in a blue moon I get frustrated and its okay to feel that way because thats how you move through the emotion to a better place. At the end of the day i am still going to wake up and try. I ran into my old trainer the other day at the gym (she left to go to law school) and she was blown away with how much I have lost and how I look and she texted me after and said I am so proud of you for never giving up because i know all of your health issues and how hard you work but you never ever give up and you should be proud of yourself. I say this because its a good reminder that waking up every day and trying sometimes is the biggest win of all. And there is no crime in encouraging people... That said i know for a fact I have stalled more than a week and it had nothing to do with calories. My surgeon and my Drs all attribute that to the above mentioned medical issues I have. But I can only speak to my body as you can only speak to yours. And to other we should speak with the kindness we wish to get in return. Life is too short for anything else.

I had the sleeve on 12/9. Lost 23.2 lbs since surgery. 21 on the liquid diet prior to that. So down 44lbs since 11/18/19. I can feel a difference, but can’t see one. And I feel like it’s coming off at a snails pace. But as long as the scale is down, not up, I’ll take it as a win!

Never heard of a 6 month stall however changing up routine. Intermittent fasting. pouch reset. Changing up activity level....all helps. I personally don't believe in this whole stall thing. Our bodies adapt to our routine and if we still need to lose we adjust accordingly.

The most negative statistical outcomes has been directly attributed to "The band" . most insurance companies don't even cover it anymore, and most surgeons will not perform the surgery. I believe one of the easiest ways to counter the negative vibes that you may encounter when talking to someone who "knows someone" that has significantly failed is to merely ask the question: "do you know what type of WLS they had".
In my experience pre and post op, virtually everyone says the same thing: "they had the band". If so, then just take a few minutes to talk about your surgery, and let them know that there is a significantly higher chance of success with the Sleeve or bypass. In fact if you look up the history of the sleeve, it was originally developed to be a "first step" in the bypass process, as an attempt to have severely obese people drop initial weight to a level which made the actual bypass easier and safer to accomplish.
What they however found in the majority of cases, was that patients didn't even need the bypass after the sleeve, which is why it is now so popular. The sleeve, and associated nutritional education are on the cutting edge (no pun intended) as a cure of the blight on our populace by the proliferation of cheap easily available questionable food choices. Corporate marketing of non-complex high carbs and calorie laden meals are literally tapping into the same brain chemistry as heroin dealers.
The food industry makes in money in carbohydrates, not Protein. Protein is expensive. Carbs are cheap. When you go out for your "reasonably priced" Pasta meal, consider that 85% of what is on your plate, cost them 10% of what you are paying. The protein then eats up 75+% of their costs. Unfortunately they are typically covered in sauces to make you think they are all the same thing. Not! The cheap carbs are what cause the problem and they are the majority of most meals.
As a side note to all of your "banders" who have succeeded. Bravo! I know it cant be easy.

Did you get your pysch eval yet? You're friends arent preparing you? It's not up to your friends to decide. If you can have anesthesia. It's up to the Dr. Lol. This isn't about pain tolerance. This is MAJOR surgery not a pipe up your butt. I think it's time to come back to reality.

If it comes back negative, contact the Dr. and tell him you want to be retested as your home test shows no nicotine. If it comes back positive and you haven't smoked in a month, you've got a bigger issue.
You can resolve this in a day.
    luck!

Guys, I gotta get this off my chest.
BariatricPal is a wonderful site that has helped countless people on their weight loss journey. Many topics have been discussed here with some of them being a bit off-color or controversial, but it's OK because we are hear to learn and get help and give help.
But many posters ask honest questions, and some of the responses come off as being judgemental of the poster. If people are afraid their questions are going to bring down a rain of judgements on their head, they are likely NOT to post, and isn't asking questions what this forum is for?
So I hope we can give a bit of consideration when we respond to a question. Opinions are definitely OK, but if the post comes off as judgemental people may be hesitant to ask them, and it defeats the purpose of this forum.
Thanks, whew-I feel better now. I love you all!

Fatboyslim1 got a reaction from Slownstedy in 3 Month Stall. WTF?!
The reality is, no one except the OP knows how much she is consuming. I don't quite understand the idea that someone must be @ 1700 calories per day to be able to drop 500 (which by the way could easily be attained with sugars and sweets). Even 1700-500 is 1200. I'm at 750 right now, so for me to add 500 would only be 1250. So I don't really get what you mean.
Curious how many calories were you consuming back in July vs September ? Admittedly, the first 2-3 months are the sweet spot where everyone should be striving to follow the plan to the max.

Fatboyslim1 got a reaction from Miss Liss in 3 Month Stall. WTF?!
It is entirely possible that you have not "stalled"' you have "stopped". You have hit a daily caloric intake that no longer causes you to lose weight.
Among other things, you are 80 lbs lighter than when you started so your daily caloric burn is LESS than it was when you started. Think of it this way: whatever you are consuming today, is what it will take for you to maintain your current weight for the rest of your life. That's a good thing!
First - congratulations on losing close to 80 lbs.
Second - don't consume any more per day that you have been for the last 3 months.
Third - get a bit more exercise (enjoy your new self)
Fourth - try to cut back a little bit on calories (500 per day less would give you a lb per week)
Give it a try, and see what happens
    luck!

Yes thanks. I try to fill up on 150-200 calories.cutting the bars in thirds would be 120 calories, and have virtually no mass, so I fed them to the squirrels who ravage our bird feeders.
