PB, vomit or just pain?
Well I saw the poll on another post that asks how often people PB/vomit. And I guess it happens quite often. I have thrown up twice since being banded, the first time I was sick the second time I guess I couldn't tolerate rice. However usually when I overeat I just get really bad pain for 15 minutes as I wait for it to make its way down. Anyone just get pain and uncomfortable instead of PB/vomiting? Maybe I'm not at a sweet spot and I can just eat a lot more and maybe that's why I don't (though it's good, since I know vomiting with band is bad). But am I the only one who doesn't have to eat slow? I usually eat my meal at the same speed I always did, takes about 5-15 minutes. Or am I just not full enough?

Losing weight, still hate my body.
Lol...no I wish. In fact my upper body is just as large...I am a 36G lol I am an hourglass shape, but that doesn't help. I'm a 42-31-43 right now. I just have very large thighs. I'm built very stocky, not like an attractive hour glass lol...

Losing weight, still hate my body.
well I can't even find you guys a picture of what my thighs look like though..see it's a combination of saggy skin/cellulite...I think...and my legs are very short and very thick...so it's just an all around lose/lose situation. My thighs are massive, currently about 2 inches smaller than my waist....so yeah...I'm just frustrated because I just can never find anything that fits right...even after losing d*mn near 70 lbs...

Losing weight, still hate my body.
well my skin has been ruined by the fact that...Despite going through puberty early and quickly I never had strech marks. I was just always about 20-30 lbs overweight though...And then about 2 years ago I started rapidly gaining..about 90lbs+ in 7 months...I have now been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and PCOS so...yay! I have strech marks on my stomach, hips, back, arms, and in my knee pits...and it's also probably going to cause me to have a lot of sagging skin...oh what 2 years can do to your body...

Losing weight, still hate my body.
K so far i am down about 62 lbs. I went from about a size 22 to now...um 16/18... Anyway today just really got on my nerves. One: I've been losing slowly. my bandiversary is end of next month. Two: My 18's are falllling off of me. So I was super excited that I was probably in a 16. Tried on the same brand, same cut just a size smaller and they were skin-tight, barely on, barely covering my a**. The shorts in a 16 fit...however I have front cellulite/saggy leg? I'm just so disappointed because I'm 19 and this is pretty much the best my body is going to get...even as a child I spent 7 YEARS not wearing shorts or tank tops because I was too chunky probably from ages 7-14. I'm tired of hiding under bags all the time.

When is it enough restriction?
well I'm kind of hoping that if he gives me 1/2 cc that I can only eat 1/4 cup a food twice a day...at least right away....as it seems that I have really awesome restriction right away and then it just sort goes down hill from there lol...
-
What a difference .5cc makes!
missboo I completely feel your pain. I'm at 7cc in a 10cc band. And sometimes it's perfect, I don't eat very much, and other times I can eat quite a bit...it gets frustrating because I don't have time to count, I'm in college, part-time job and I've got 3 diseases that I've discovered that I've been regulatiing and it's just all a lot to keep my mind wrapped around lol
-
When is it enough restriction?
K so I haven't been losing the most, but I also haven't been eating the best, though the amount seems a little much to me. How much are you guys able to eat? I'm able to eat a full meal in about 10 minutes and it's probably a 1/2 cup full. I get a little hungry after an hour. I would ask my doctor but I'm afraid he'll be too aggressive...as he puts in 2 to 3 cc's at a time. I'm at 7cc in an 10cc VG band. I think I'm pretty close but...I'd like some advice on this...

Slow Losers, sometimes its NOT your fault!!!
Same thing happened to me. My doctor was very agressive with fills and so when I went in for my 3rd fill(after not losing anything in 6 months and having very little restriction) I thought I was at 8cc in an 11cc band...i was so frustrated and thought I made the wrong decision...turns out I only had about 5cc in there...haha! so they put like 2cc in...so I am now at 7cc and I've never had this much restriction...it's awesome! lol...think I need to go back in for a slight adjustment though....My doctor has a hard time with fills under 2cc's though...he's crazy...

Doctor wait-time
I didn't say it was the doctor's fault because of a lack of endos. I think it's my doctor's fault for treating me for something and not knowing anything about it.
-
Doctor wait-time
well I've read of many doctors lowering a TSH in the higher range down to 1-ish.....So that's not the issue...Oh and endocrinologist? I have only one other doctor I could maybe go to...and the next closest decent one wouldn't be for 300 miles in any direction...UGH I have living in the Great EMPTY Plains...
-
Doctor wait-time
Ok so just here to rant about doctors and how ridiculous it is to have to wait so long to see them...It's taken me 7 weeks to just make an appointment with them and now...I don't see them for another 2 full months. Just to see an endocrinologist! My thyroid is out of whack(but is in the normal range, still too high) and I'm not going to lose a single pound for another 2 months...it's already been 6 months since I've seen the scale move... I give up. I'm adjusting my own meds. I know that's dangerous but if there were to be an increase in my meds a doc would do it by 25 mcg and that's all I'm adding. Seriously I'm not losing, my hair is brittle and falling out, my mood swings are bad, sleeping 12 hours and still exhausted, I hate being HYPO!!!! (My regular physcian is a physcian's assistant and quote "Doesn't know what other kind of medicine there is or what kind of dose to do"...the guy hadn't heard of "PCOS" before either...I hate doctors as well...
-
frustrated, any helping words?
well that's the thing I'm just not losing what so ever...and I do have hypothyroidism which caused me to gain massive amounts of weight...so I'm wondering if maybe it's not off again...
-
frustrated, any helping words?
Ok so I have to say that normally my body will drop weight very quickly but then stall out...for instance, right before my surgery. I did 3 days of liquid diet...I had started at 265 and 3 days later I was 248...don't know how but whatever....and basically that's how I lose my weight is in short bursts...however...I haven't lost in the last 6 months, so I went to get another fill, I have been pretty tight and haven't consumed very much so I've dropped down from eating 1600 calories a day or more to just 500. Now knowing my body I should have dropped, however the scale hasn't budged... I know people are going to say just wait it out but honestly I know how my body responds and it's just...not? Do you think my thyroid being slightly off would keep the scale from moving despite just a reduced number of calories?

Magic missing fill
K to vent my frustration: I was getting worried...believing I was at 8cc(which is what they told me)...I had 3 in at surgery, 2 at the 1st fill, 3 at the 2nd.....Yesterday I went in for my third fill and when he pulled it out he only got 5cc...so somewhere one fill was missing...although it is a relief because I was so worried I was at 8cc and didn't have much restriction! lol Anyone else have a similar story?
-
Will I ever get restriction?????
darn I thought you were going to be like me...I'm 8cc's in a 10cc band and I can sometimes not eat even two bites and I start getting pain but that's usually in the morning...by night time I can basically almost eat as much as I want...it's horrible...

Hypothyroidism, possible mild-PCOS, and having a tough time
Ok I was banded in July of 2008. It's been 7 months and I've only lost 40lbs. It started off fast and quick and for the last 5 months I've been stuck at 225-ish. I went down to 215 when my doctor started me on metformin, as I believe I might have slight Insulin Resistance(he's a bad doc, didn't really explain). I've gone up to 223 again. I haven't been taking my metformin as I should, but when I do take it my blood sugar feels low and it almost increases my hunger. Also this same doctor has my thyroid at 3.77. I heard back in 2003 they changed the levels to normal between .3 and 3.0? Anyway I'm getting cold very often and my moods are fluctuating. My hair is also getting very brittle. My mind has been starting to get foggy again too. So I'm thinking 3.77 isn't the best number for me. I also haven't had a fill since September. It's been kind of stressful that last few months, school, work, life in general, and the sudden death of my grandfather. I know I don't exercise and my food choices could be better, but I'm still not gorging. I also have tried to keep more active in my day to day life, taking stairs, getting up and moving around more. I've never been an exerciser, my family never exercised, and I want this to be long term so I'm trying to change VERY slowly so I never fall back into these patterns and I know if I start out exercising everyday, I'll stop by the end of the week and wont't start again for months. Right now I'm at about 15 minutes 3 times a week. Anyway I'm just looking for opinions or even someone else who has had to deal with hypothyroidism and PCOS and not losing...

Twenties NSVs
Ok wow I have quite a few NSV's... Stomach no longer touches steering wheel. I've gone from a tight 22 to a very loose 18. My legs don't look like stumps they look like LEGS! BAD NSV: I've lost inches but no cup size so I've gone from a 40DDD to a 38F. My ankles exist! Rings fall off, necklaces fit better, bracelets don't cut off circulation. Sex has gotten waaaaaay better. I can wear a belt! Guys are flirting with me and staring at me. I instinctively am thinking "Oh no do I have something on my face?" cuz I'm just not used to it. I can shop at normal stores again. Still in XXL or XL shirts but come on...I have 38F's lol Even at my smallest I was wearing XL's. I have officially lost 50lbs. (Not a NSV but still a victory) I actually am having choices in what I want to wear, instead of just taking ANYTHING that'll fit. Used to wear 2XL guys shirts, put one on about 2 months ago so I could wear it to school and I was SWIMMING in it. I bought guys 2XL swim trunks at Old Navy when I was at my heaviest. So a few weeks ago I had to go hottubbing and needed some cover up shorts. I grabbed them and I couldn't get them to stay up and they went down to my ankles:mellow:. They weren't an option lol. People in my classes are talking to me. Sad but when I was at 265(at 5'4") they would ignore me. Not even look at me. Depressing when people can't stand the sight of you...how's that for you self-confidence lol... I can somewhat see my va-jay-jay! In the bathtub when I sit down I slide around a lot more lol...my thighs used to touch both sides and kept me in place lol sleeping hurts because my bones stick out more and I can feel the mattress springs I can run up stairs without losing my breathe. And amazingly I haven't exercised or really dieted at all yet. (bad I know but i've still lost and kept off 50lbs in 6 months all by just eating smaller amounts which is a lesson I needed to learn.)

A VERY strange (possibly offensive) question. ***read at your own risk...***
wow, never been a problem for me. I've never spit before:( And I def. agree about the "leaking" out thing...you should probably get that checked out if that's the case...

Metformin side effects and Lap Band
K so I've heard abotu upset stomach on Metformin, and my doctor just prescribed me it. 500mg twice a day. I'm kind of scared just in general because I'm only 19. He said my horomones were fine, but yeah um I'm pre-diabetic. I want to take the medication because it will help but I'm just worried that if it upsets me stomach or makes me throw up, it might hurt the lap band...

Really don't know.
Ok wow. So my weight loss and everything has been Ok, could be worse. But my mood, my...i don't even think it's that. When you need a friend and you don't have any...where do you go? Seriously. Besides that, I'm just so empty. It doesn't matter if I'm depressed or ok anymore...I'm just empty no matter what I do. I love my b/f, my family, my friends. I love school, I look foward to being somewhat ok at my future job...but the emptiness never goes away... I really don't want to be on meds again...I feel ok sometimes...ish....even then...I'm so empty and up in limbo that my diagnosis is just "Not otherwise specified".... And I've been pretty much diagnosed (went to 4 doctors that all said i had this) with Trigeminal Neuralgia...and i just discovered that mine might be caused by stress/emotions...great. Seriously after being completely pain free for almost a week, i start crying and the pain kicks in again. I feel crazy.
