Twenties NSVs
thanks MrRiceGuy... yeah it's strange because remembering back to when I was 165 I wore a tight 14 from american eagle...now I wear a comfortable 12 at 183...has there been a change with vanity sizing or something in the last 5 years? :S

Flying With The Band
I had the same problem. No clue how to fix it though. I too felt almost a popping from my port. Eat a lot of soup? maybe drinking while eatting might help, even though we aren't supposed to...

Twenties NSVs
Went shopping this week...and even though I gained 5 lbs and it's that time of the month I somehow now fit into 13's at pacsun and aero, and I'm a 12 at old navy and american eagle...when did that happen? lol yay! motivation!

Oh to be a "normal" shape!
well I'm a 40-29-40 right now. Unfortunately that makes me three different sizes still. And I"m 5'4...and in between petite and regular inseams...I think to get anything to fit right you have to get it tailored...lol

What the heck is wrong with me....
I questioned as well at your point. I had only lost about 30lbs and that was all from the first two weeks after. But I just kept living and the weight seemed to go away...slowly mind you but it did leave. It took me until my 4th or 5th fill to get really good restriction at like 7cc-8cc in a 10cc band. I'm at 8 right now and honestly the last week or two I've been able to eat a LOT and it's hard trying to get myself on the right track again. I've gained almost 5 lbs back. The challenge never goes away, this wasn't the easy choice and it really means having to make the choice to live healthier every single day. And I've never had a problem with bread. Rice and biscuits seem to be the only things that give me any problems and I usually just have to eat slower, so I really have to make sure to stay away from breads because I have no problem getting it down...

Twenties NSVs
Well him and I did have a "thing" during the beginning of his relationship with her...3 years ago, and we've all said our sorries, etc. and moved past it. But when I became REALLY fat (right after our lil affair) she didn't care that we stayed friends but now I lost weight and yea... But it's stupid because I've been with my bf now for 2.5 years so...I just don't want to lose a friend out of the deal...But he's basically still talking to me so it's no big deal and they live 3 hours away in my hometown so I don't have to deal with it a lot but...weird NSV huh? --In my defense back then, half of the affair I didn't even know they were going out, and the other half I did he constantly made it sound like he was going to break up with her. Soooo he's a douche but as a friend he's a good guy...

Healthy foods that don't taste like cardboard!
I do eat a lot of salt:S But I generally make up for it later in the day by taking it easy with my other meals. Another fine discovery: You can buy the grilled chicken patties from MCd's with no bread! yay to not spending $5 on a sandwich only to throw away the bread! They are really good when I only have 20 min in between classes. Not a big fan of TV dinners, though I might look into some healthy choice ones. But I can never find one that doesn't turn out soggy or like rubber.

Well one of my close guy friend's gf won't let us be friends anymore because it was ok for us to be friends when I was fat and invisible but now that she saw me again I must be a threat...not a happy nsv but...

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
Quite honestly losing weight is hard, I'd say anything over 30lbs is pretty hard. For instance I spent most of my young life with only 30lbs to lose. Except I worked my ass off and got nowhere. I was always still hungry and I'd lose and gain and lose and so on. Then my thyroid went crazy, as did my horomones...and I ballooned up to 267 at 5'4". I realize I didn't spend as long being fat as a lot of people on this board, but my family has crazy insane health risks and just being fat for that short period of time was destroying me. And even at 267 that same cylce of lose, gain, lose, gain...kept going. So I say if the person has health problems and has tried like mad to get it off, I really think it's a decision for that person and their doctor.

I am upset...
I didn't lose a single pound for almost 5-6 months. I was stuck at 35lbs lost, which I lost the first few weeks. Thought I was a failure. but since then I've lost almost another 50lbs. Keep your head up!

Healthy foods that don't taste like cardboard!
K I thought it would be a cool idea to start a post about this. I'm a college student and frequently eatting on the run/poor! And I'm sure you all have crazy lives too. So there's a lot of times I can't get totally fresh food. So does anybody have any healthy packaged food that doesn't taste nasty? Protein bars? prepared meals? Best thing I've run into is Special K Peanut Butter and chocolate meal bars...I think under 200 cals, 10g of protein and 5g of Fiber. And they taste like I'm eatting a candy bar, but of course less junky.

Any others out there with MS?
Well i don't know if this counts but I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and they are actually thinking that it could be the beginning of MS. And I have a crap load of other things wrong with me, and I'm 19. So yea this surgery was definitely to hurry up and get healthy.

Somewhat superficial question...
I'm 19 and 85lbs down and my stomach is a bit droopy, but honestly I'm ok with it, I'll see how it goes another 50 lbs from now when I'm at goal. And it's taken me a year to drop 85lbs so not too drastic. I was really scared too at first but once you start losing the weight, that skin don't mean shit :blushing: lol

Not comfortable with how I'm looking
I'm not at an age to give much advice but I do understand the not being happy with my body after weight loss, quite frankly I destroyed my body with being fat but atleast that saggy skin and those strech marks will be a reminder of how big and unhappy I was then. My mother had the gastric bypass when she was 42 and went from 340 down to 175 at 5'11" so it really was strange to see that her hair was thinner(lack of protein though) and that she had wrinkles but honestly I'm sure other people started getting those wrinkles in their late 30's, my mom's were just post-poned because there was no longer that fat to fill up her face, gross but hey that's what it does... But quite frankly even with her saggy skin and wrinkles, I have never seen her more herself, more happy then she is right now and she's about 6 years out from surgery. Talk to a counselor to work through some issues, no one goes from obese to normal without some weird emotions. And always know that you have this forum with a LOT of people who know exactly what you are going through...

What the heck is wrong with me....
k 15 crackers is prolly 200 calories or less...honestly not enough to undo all your hard work. Also I know that if I eat something really high carb, mashed potatoes or something like that...I crave chocolate and other bad goodies after that, so maybe it's just letting yourself get away. And I have to ask....are you at good restriction? Cuz trust me I used to eat pasta and bread and chips(even months after to being banded shame on me-in limited amounts though so not so bad)...but anyway, I ate those things and after getting a proper fill, they sit so heavy in my stomach and make me feel sooooo gross and in pain that about 90% of my cravings for bad stuff has gone away...

Trying not to Gain!
Honestly, the first six months were hell. I had ok restriction but could still eat a lot. I went from 267 to 235 right away but I was stuck there for six months. I stopped weighing myself everyday and just lived, could have been a disaster like it used to be but instead I randomly dropped down to 222. Now I've realized that I have huge plateu's...I'm not a steady loser, I go months at the same weight and then randomly drop 15. So now I don't get discouraged and just keep going on a healthier lifestyle. More recently I was stuck at 197, I "pigged out"(bit too many starbucks frappucino's lol) one day and was worried, weighed myself and I had dropped to 185,so just worry more about living and treating your body right during this time, it will probably be thankful and show you a nice return on the scale. Good luck.

My first fill
sharptongue- I had 3cc in at surgery. 3cc for the next fill and I think 2 or 3cc for the next one. Becuase I live far away from my doc I had to wait a lot of time in between, but honestly I liked it so much better that way. And honestly I didn't get good restriction until like my 4th fill and I was at almost 7cc. Even with inadequate restriction I somehow kept losing so hopefully your waiting period won't be so bad... :blushing:

Any other TRICARE patients?
I was a Tricare Standard and they covered everything as well. and I think my doctor set it up so that adjustments are included in the price so I've had 4 or 5 fills and haven't had to pay for any of them...

Flab2fabdiva
wow I have to say, you are a huge inspiration.I looked at your blog pictures, and you just seemed so depressed in your before pictures, now you just glow! And my god you look sooo much younger! Congrats! It's so great that lapband lets you live your life again instead of hiding from it, atleast that's how I feel...

Somemthing i've been wondering - college students
I had mine done the end of July and started school the end of August. After surgery it was 2 weeks before I went back to school(I wasn't sleeping very well because i was usually a side sleeper and had to be on my back) and my job I run up and down stairs and get in and out of the car so I wanted to make sure and after 2 weeks it was nothing...

Problems with chicken?
K maybe I'm just having a gassy day. Anyone else get like that? I just ate mainly ground beef, quite a small serving as opposed to what I"m used to and now I'm getting that upper shoulder pain and burping like crazy. Does this happen if you wait to long in between meals?
-
Problems with chicken?
Ok it's not even a normal issue of eating too fast or it being too dry. It was actually very juicy and marinated and went down fine. However I'm getting this thing where about an hour later or so, I get pain in my chest/shoulders...kind of like it was after surgery. Like gassy uncomfortable. Am I going crazy or does it happen to anyone else?

Yea that port...lol...Anyone else almost not able to sleep on their stomachs? I have a crappy wire-y mattress and it feels sooo awkward to lay on my stomach because my port sticks out lol...

Twenties NSVs
Well I never flew when I was bigger but I know I wouldn't have fit but I comfortably fit in the seat 2 weeks ago when I flew for a school trip. We did a lot of hiking and I didn't keep up very well(they were all athletes) but I know I did way better than I would have done a year ago. I'm a size 14 now, juniors 15, so what I was in high school...I haven't lost any lbs in a month or two though...sad. Oh well. Before school starts I need to go shopping because I have NO clothes. And I'm jealous of those of you that are seeing your bra size go down lol. At my heaviest I was a 40DDD...I'm now a 36G...wtf? lol
