  1. Well I guess I'm lucky, or unlucky depending on how you see it, I don't get stuck from eatting too fast. No, I just get stuck from eatting too much. It will usually go like this: I'll eat and then go hmmmm I want one last bite....and I do it....I'll be fine for about 3 minutes...and then hell starts. I start burping like crazy but non-productive, and I feel like someone is poking my esophagus from the inside, very unpleasant. And I basically have to walk around or just wait for it either to pass down into my stomach when theirs room or to come up...and yes sliming...ick. lol. Doesn't help the situation when you are naseous, but your basically becomes really watery. I would say that getting stuck is enough to make you cautious of doing it again but not unbearable, especially since after about 10-15minutes of uncomfortableness you usually find relief...
  2. Wow stringbean I know how you feel. Maybe not as dramatically but in 3rd grade(I skipped a grade and was actually about 8) I grew to about 5ft tall and 145lbs with a B cup...it was awkward. And sucky. As for being fat my whole life, I've always been a little tubby but never normal. And even I have doubts about this elusive "normal". And I really went through a lot of times when I thought...ok 10....20...30 lbs that's all I'm going to lose. But the fact is, even though I still eat like a college kid, I still have burgers, chicken nuggets, candy....I just do it OCCASIONALLY and not buying a whole bag of snickers(and reese's and twix-yes I used to eat worse than anyone I know) and finishing it by myself(and that was after a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese meal). It's amazing how the lapband has changed my life. I know it doesn't work for all, as we are all very diffrent, but please give it a chance. Just keep your faith up. It becomes so much easier to turn down just that "last bite" with the band and thank god for it. (And by the way I was starving with the band until about my 4th or 5th fill: it's actually nice because with each fill I've made tiny changes to my diet instead of one big overhaul because I know I wouldn't stick to that) I was in denial before about what and how much I was eatting. I could eat and eat and never feel full and now, I know what that full satisfaction is at every meal  Good Luck!
  3. Well I've always been insecure. lol I went through really awkward years in my early teens(about 20lbs overweight, horrible acne:pizza face, braces, horrible dressing/hair) lol But when I started growing out of that I met alot of different guys and I was between 170-190, I'm sorry but I'm personally turned off by guys that find really skinny girls attractive. However then my thyroid went off and I was a shut-in for 3 years and gained 90lbs. I think it was the sleeping 15 hours a day that made me feel the most unattractive. It really has to do about personality and confidence sometimes though, I can say that I've had a LOT more attention recently now that I'm back to 167lbs. As I've gone down in weight you start to realize how sensitive an issue being fat is. It's sad that people look down on you for it, but I am so thankful that my family and awesome b/f stood by me through weight gain and weight loss and loved me the whole time. And unfortunately a lot of people don't have that. That's why this forum is amazing, because we all know what it's like. Sorry if that was really long-and somehow turned into a I-Love-Lapband-Talk! lol
  4. I'd def. go in and get an unfill even if it is just .5 cc's. When I got my last fill, 8cc in a 10cc band, I contemplated getting an unfill because for the first week I would have acid, but only if I laid down or if I ate too quickly. But after that it went away and I've been doing really well. However if you are actually vomiting and the acid is constant and unyeilding, like jachut said, the health of your band isn't worth risking and neither is your health. And with the lapband sometimes the slower the better when it comes to weight loss. I am down 100lbs today but it's taken me a year and 4 months. There were people that lost that amount in 5 or 6 months but I'd rather let my body take this at its own speed...
  5. So regardless of vanity sizes(poo on them) I'm going to be excited. The smallest I ever was was a size 10. Well yesterday I wore a size 8 jeans from target, all day, a little snug but they button and fit and are comfy. I have never been a single digit!!!!(size 1-3x do NOT count! lol)
  6. I'm SOOOO excited!!!! As of this morning I was 167.8lbs...I started out this journey at 270/267(depending on what scale and who you ask b/c I didn't even weigh myself for awhile I was too depressed)...So as of this morning I am officially 100 lbs down...or 103! lol Either way, this was one of the best decisions of my life!!! Good luck to all of you and I hope you can all feel like this one day!
  7. well I had no pain at all, didn't take any pain pills. Only issue was I needed help getting up and down and I tried not to bend much. Other than that it was great, but I took 2 weeks off from work because I'm a pizza delivery driver and that's a lot of movement and getting in and out of the car. (I'm in college, I had the surgery during summer)
  8. o um, I thought most people didn't stay overnight? I got to the hospital at 7:35am, but there were like 3 people in front of me, so I had the surgery at 11, and I'm pretty sure I was done 30 minutes later. They waited for me to wake up, told me to walk, I ended up walking really easily and they were impressed and I think I was out by like 2 or 3 sooo...I wouldn't worry about it. By the way it's been a year and 3 months since my surgery, so nothing went wrong...
  9. K I think last time I posted was 20 lbs ago...sooo http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/39731-albums3943.html here's my album, I'm about 25lbs away from my goal weight(and doctor's goal) and 35lbs from my ultimate goal weight and I'm 9 lbs away from the lightest I've ever been in my post-pubescent body lol notice the boobs and the butt never go away!!! URG!
  10. lol trust me. I understand. I have a boyfriend but I have other guy friends and yeah they have been awkwardly hugging/touching/paying attention to me. It's very strange. But I don't really think I could talk about that anywhere else but here lol
  11. Well I'm between 30-40 lbs from my goal weight. I'm currently down about 95 lbs down right now. I once went 7 months without a fill...didn't lose for the first 5 months of that and then dropped like 20 lbs:D And that 7 months without a fill was only because I live up in north dakota and so that was winter lol, meaning I am 200miles from my doc and the roads suck. So who knows but I'm currently at 8cc in a 10cc band, at pretty good restriction and try telling my docs that they can do a .25 cc or .5 cc fill...ha! Yeah they are more bypass-ish people.
  12. Hello all, just wondering because I haven't thought of this question before and haven't really read anything on it.... What's the longest you've gone on one fill? As in, how many months, years did you go before you stopped losing decent, consistent weight and needed another fill? (It's been awhile since my last fill and not quite sure if I should get another)
  13. Did you use the lil insert picture button?
  14. Ok so...I have the flu(no clue what kind as...according to the walk-in clinic doctor: I won't test you because we know it's out there; even after I told him I have hypothyroidism and a severe abscess and I live with someone on immunosuppressent meds) Anyway I woke up last night sweating, hopefully my fever was breaking a bit, but I was reallly nasueous but all that happened was I kept hic-burping like I do if I eat a food that doesn't digest well....and I pretty much haven't ate anything for the last two days as my appetite is nonexistent. Anyone else had the flu with the band?
  15. It actually stopped hurting, until this morning. Called into make the appointment after the doctor sent me a letter saying they had received a referral from my dentist...so I call and they say they haven't received my referral...AGH!!!!
  16. BEK-totally agreed. but I'm still about 17 lbs from what I was my sophomore year...but hell I've already made it 90lbs lol...still waiting on the "you don't need to lose anymore weight" comment lol Ha! and I just got my first "Where did you go?"/disappearing comment this weekend lol
  17. It could be your scale...I just bought a new one and the first reading of the day is usually under or over by 2-4 lbs. I just stand on it again about 3 more times and then I always get the same reading which is my actual weight so...who knows....
  18. Your period could be late due to stress, new exercise routine...I'd say go to the doctor and take a test there just to be sure...
  19. Ok so I've discovered that my new super-accurate scale...isn't at all accurate the first weigh in of the morning:( I let it go to 00...stepped on it...and got 179lbs and about jumped up and down for joy...but then I stood on it again...got 182. did it three more times still 182...stupid scale...I got so excited when I thought that I had almost broke this 2.5 month plateau:( (I have had plateau's last for 5-6 months so...I'm REALLY hoping this isn't one of those times)
  20. since you are in the dental field, how painful will it be without pain meds? Most pain meds don't work on me for some reason...so I'm hoping it won't be too bad. I have trigeminal neuralgia and if the pain is bad it might set that off:scared2:
  21. Ok so, anyone else had the lapband and THEN have their wisdom teeth out? My main issues are, 1: A little curious as to how much weight I might lose(it'd be awesome if it broke my plateau even if by a pound!) 2: Did it hurt? and the most important 3. if I can't eat a lot of food, especially not solid, I'm worried about feeling like crap. For instance, one week I lost my appetite completely, lived off liquids pretty much. Didn't do it intentionly...however when my appetite returned my stomach had shrunk SOOOO much that when I tried to eat it hurt, the first bite got stuck and I felt absolutely horrible. Any suggestions as to what I can eat that won't let my pouch shrink?
  22. :| I can fit a snug (not tight) size 10 (I checked at Target, Old Navy and Maurice's just be make sure! lol) At target I even buttoned a pair of 8's however if I breathed or moved they would explode lol but...WOW! excited!!!
  23. O thank god. lol . I've been stuck at precisely 183 for the last 2 months...and I was only at 183 for a few months in the past lol. I'm sure it has to do with fat cell "memory" or something...
  24. Ok not sure where I heard this from...but.. when losing weight, do you tend to plateau or stall at weight's that you held for a long time? For instance say you had been at 218 for 5 years sometime in the past, now that you are losing weight again, you end up plateauing at 218 and it takes quite a while for it to budge.. Anyone else ever heard this before?
