  1. My doc said that anyone who ever wants to take NSAIDS after surgery should have the sleeve. In fact I got sent home from the hospital with a script for ibuprofen and was told to alternate that with tylenol. So I have a hard time believing all these docs that don't want anyone with a sleeve to take NSAIDS.

Careful with aspirin. I was not allowed any pain reliever other than Tylenol which stinks and never worked for headaches for me. Actually I'm only allowed Tylenol going forward post op too! A little worried because I get Migraines so I feel your pain. But I've had no headaches post op so far! Good luck you'll do great!

I keep hearing other sleeve people say that they are only allowed tylenol yet I went home from the surgery with a script for ibuprofen! Was told to alternate it with tylenol and take oxy as needed. Additionally we were told that if we wanted or needed to take NSAIDS for anything after surgery, have the sleeve. Not sure if my doc is progressive or behind haha

Thanks for the info! Re: the point quoted above, this is only partially true. BariatricPal auto-links some things to their shop. Hover over the link to see where it leads to be sure.

    Example: Protein Shakes

    Fantastic 73 lbs down. Congrats

Start slow and build your fitness level up. Visit or call gyms in your area. Find out all the services your membership covers. Some charge extra for a trainer. My membership covers four training sessions a year. The trainers are always in the weight room. I can ask for help at anytime.

I started out researching bodybuilding.com and had help of lifters on this site. @BlueCrush @BigViffer @Albus @oldbriannomore @NurseMichael @PWMDMD (I'm not sure if they are still around.)

Bodybuilding.com Lifting data base. Shows how to use the equipment and form.

Ask your gym about crossfit or HIIT classes

I can only dream about being as strong as Ashley Horner *laughing* I'm posting her video just for fun.

This is great info - thank you so much!

  5. I've been considering a personal trainer, just to get the basic exercises I need and to make sure I'm doing them correctly.

You'd say it's been worth it? I'm also VERY interested in sports fitness - where you do ropes and move tires and all that stuff as a workout. Seems more fun than lifting weights all the time.

  6. As much as I wanted to hate it I think i really like tofu! Wife made some tofu nuggets that tasted nothing like chicken BUT they were nice and flavorful and soft when I needed soft food still.

I got some panko style pork rind breadcrumbs and I'd like to try my hand at air-frying another batch in those after soaking them in some chicken broth or something.

  7. I'm looking to start weight lifting to build muscle and cut down on skin sagginess. No idea where to start though. I'd like to work the following muscle groups, likely 2-3x weekly?

Biceps, Triceps, Rhomboids, Abs, Pecs, Thighs and Calves.

I have small weights (think 1-2 pounds) and a bungee type system but I'd be willing to invest in joining a gym or some free weights, I just don't know what kind of plan to follow to do this right.

I currently walk 2+ miles about 3-4 times a week and do barre 2x a week.

@AJ Tylo Thanks for reply. Vitamix is out of my price range. I do have an old Cusinart food processor, but it's a pain to wash and large and rather heavy. I am thinking a small blender like Nutri Bullet will make the small portions I will need through the "puree" phase.

    Any experience with the Ninja's?

    Happy Thanksgiving + 1!

LOVE our ninja so much we have 2. One for the smaller cups for single Protein Shakes and a bigger one. Only problem is that the blades seem to dull quite quickly - we're usually replacing or sharpening the blade once a year.

Brandless also has a blender that supposedly compares with the vitamix for far less.

  9. Found this on FB and it's been pretty accurate for me. Lost over 20 pounds right after surgery very quickly then things were slow from week 2-5ish but since then it's been coming off at a pound or so a day.

ETA: this is from some Keto thing so ignore the starting weight part but it seems to fit for me and others after surgery.
