  1. The way I see it is that you have to take the good with the bad. Ultimately it's all about which is the lesser of two evils. To stay at an unhealthy weight and all the complications that come along with that or to make some lifestyle changes that enable you to work with your revised plumbing. I'm still finding the balance but I've got faith that I will and that in the end, this will be a life saving and life enabling decision. I miss the guy I was 9 years ago and I'm bringing him back!
  2. Hello @tessarevived , I'm doing quite well. I know everyone's journey will be different but so far mine's going pretty good. Because of the no pouch changes, it doesn't really feel any different. I do get restriction and it seems to come on pretty abruptly but I've managed it fine so far. The weight loss has been slow but steady. I didn't really have a great week as far as diet and exercise goes last week but I still lost 3 pounds. The only thing which has been a significant change is, and there is no delicate way to put this, but bathroom frequency. I was like a clock before the revision. Once per day, in the morning. Now I'm at least twice and often more than that. I'm not sure if this is just an adjustment or if this is the new normal. Also, without going into too much detail, it's always soft and if I'm not careful of what I eat, it can be accompanied with some kind of liquid or oil. I asked the doctor about it and they said I'm not able to process that much fat in my diet and I should switch to leaner foods. Time will tell. Onward and upward!
  3. Hi there Frosty, So I had mine done on Nov 11th. I was supposed to have three things done. 1.) Shrinking of the pouch, 2.) Tightening the hole at the bottom of the pouch, 3.) The long limb bypass to something around 200-250cm of common channel. In the end, my surgeon did not change the pouch at all. He said it was an appropriate size and that the restriction I want would come from tightening the hole at the bottom. I've JUST started eating real food again, so far the restriction is there but it's not the same as when I first had my surgery 10 years ago. I'm also being very careful not to push it, eating primarily mush still so nothing hard or crunchy yet so I'm not sure I'm really feeling it. I also thing my insides are kind of still working themselves out so I'm not really going to be able to say too much just yet but I will say that some of the horror stories I've heard about the frequency of needing to use the bathroom seem to be over exaggerated considerably. Next week I move to the advanced diet so I may have more to say then and I'll keep updating. On another forum, I was quite put off on the distal or long limb but so far it's been quite good.

I’m ok! My surgery was delayed by about 4 hours. Went in at 4:30pm and was in recovery about 7. Didn’t get to my room until almost midnight. All seemed to go ok, can’t believe I’m online so soon after. Pain was a solid 6 or 7 overnight. This am a PA came in and moved my drain - worst pain ever! I want to smack that dude. They want to bring me in for a GI test before anything else. Onward and upward!
  5. Damn, 66 pounds before surgery?! Amazing. Continued success my man.

I'll tell you, the past two weeks were easier than I thought being on the liquid diet with some low-cal yogurt and one Proti-bar per day. However the last two days of clear liquid have officially sucked. I don't like the clear protein drink and I just feel weak and tired. On top of all that, nervous about tomorrow. Mine is later in the day. 12:15pm, the hospital called on Friday to discuss last minute stuff and I hope it's not further delayed in the day and I'm done and through recovery with enough time to see my family. In the last week I've finally told my sister and my Mother so they want to be there now. However I am also very encouraged. Both because I can't believe I've plowed through these last two weeks without a single mis-step and because I finally found this community. It's so nice to be here, even though I'm mostly a lurker and haven't posted much. So, how are the rest of my November 11th brothers and sisters doing?

I've already come to terms with that. Although I agree that the smell may bother me in a new way...we shall see.

Quick question for you, at 5 days out, do you think you could go to a movie theater and watch a movie? Reason I ask is a friend of mine is doing a talk at the local movie theater and I'd like to go but I'm not sure that 5 days after my surgery I'd be able to go... Thank you,

I think a lot of it depends on your starting weight and how good you were leading up to the start. I'm 8 days in right now, I don't weigh myself every day but two days ago I was down 11. In all fairness, I had at least a week of "Last Supper" syndrome and visited a few places that I won't go back to again for months (or ever) so that only inflated the loss a bit. YMMV.

I was placing an order for some shakes on the Bariatric Advantage web site yesterday and I saw this: "Chicken Soup flavor available to ship late November." So if you don't like sweet shakes, it looks like they will have a solution soon. They are accepting pre-orders.
  12. Yes indeed. It adds more malabsorption to the mix to help increase the effect. How much "common channel" they leave is always the big question and my surgeon leaves a pretty generous amount from what we discussed. I was hoping to hear from people who had this done to see how it is to live with. Some people (on another forum I used to be on) had me a tad concerned that this is a lot harder to live with than the regular RNY.

Ok, I'm here...not having a sleeve but I suppose we're all in this together no matter what tool we end up using.

    November Surgery

Wow, same day! My pre-op is going OK. I'm only on my second day of liquid. Hunger is manageable but it's hard to be around people at work for lunch. I don't want to be antisocial but the smells and sights are just so hard right now. I'm going to get some pre-op blood work done tomorrow during lunch because my office does free pizza every Friday. Great for morale, bad for my waist. How are you doing?
