Today is my surgery day!!! I can't believe it's actually happening! I had a bit of a roller coaster ride yesterday, when the hospital wasn't going to put me come without pulmonary clearance. I rushed to the doctor, and got clearance at 3pm yesterday! Gotta love jumping through those last minute hoops!! LOL!!
Official day of surgery weight is 218! Woo Hoo!!!
I'm so excited and can't wait to join those of you who are already post-op, and of course continue to cheer on those still waiting for their surgery date to get here!
    XOXO!!!!

    Good evening everyone.
This is my weekly check in.
I've been on this weight loss journey now 16 weeks today and down 107lbs.
    HW 322
    CW 215
    GW 185-195
Feeling good still mostly on shakes everyday but starting to try little solid things here and there to work out what I can tolerate.
I'm 7 weeks post op today but 16 weeks since starting my diet.
Feeling positive about the future just got some loose skin mostly under my arms & armpits..
Will need to get into some kind of resistance or weights soon but here in Australia Its summer and heatwave of 100 all week 😭 so not in any mood to workout right now
Thanks everyone again for your support

Thanks everyone! The nausea has subsided, I really got nauseous when they had given me the dilaudid for pain. I’m home now, took an oral dilaudid and it didn’t do much for pain. Had picked up some liquid Tylenol and gas-x, trying to get the Tylenol down now but gosh is that stuff disgusting 🤮! Suture sites are very sore and have a bit of a headache. Very bloated, but not gassy. The largest incision site was bleeding a little bit so I put a large bandage over it. Still getting up to walk as much as possible.
Had about 2.5 oz of broth w/ a small amount of GENEPRO around 430. Going to try a SF ice pop before bed.

    hope everyone is doing well!

Day 3 post op I’m very sore, and not just my belly my hips and shoulders feel like they have been squeezed tight into a tube or something they didn’t fit in. Lol I’ve been doing a lot of stretches trying to ease this pain. Walking walk-in walking 5000 steps is my goal everyday for now I’ll eventually get back to my 10,000 + when im not so sore. My dog Jalapeño he’s a chihuahua. Appreciates the break too lol. Gonna make a cauliflower chicken broth very mushy Soup today I’ve been dreaming about it for days so I can’t wait to have it. Thanks for the birthday wishes feeling like I made the best decision ever and looking forward to my future. Best wishes to you all and if anyone needs any recipes for Soups I love make soups and I’m pretty creative. Gonna make a eggplant and Tomato one soon. Bless you all♥️🤗

@shrinkingkris, I had my surgery Dec. 10th and I too was very nauseous, Did not receive any thing to drink or eat the day of my surgery but the next day received the broth, Decaf tea/coffee, sf popsicles, apple juice and a Bariatric Advantage fruit punch Protein Drink. Only when I got home yesterday I took the gas x and what a relief it was. I am feeling pretty good but have just a little pressure in my chest area. Have not had pain medication since first night of surgery. I hope all goes well with you! Get you some rest!

Hi everyone had my procedure this morning. These gas pains are serious and causing some serious nausea along with them. Tried walking a few times today and couldn’t make it too far until I started to get nauseous. Every time I take my small sips and even small bites of Jello my the gas pains seem to return w/ a vengeance. In bed going to attempt to sleep for a bit now. Hope everyone is doing well

I’ve been drinking bone broth! It has great benefits. I made some from the Thanksgiving turkey and some from a chicken. I portioned them out and froze them- it’s good for up to 6 months in the freezer so that helps post op too!

shrinkingkris reacted to JRT Mom in 10 days out - What's your single, best piece of advice?
It will in some ways be worse than you imagined and in some ways be easier. Be patient with yourself.
Follow your surgeon's recovery diet. Mine put the fear of God in me about rupturing my pouch by eating too much and the wrong kind of foods to soon.
Don't expect to be able to drink all the Water at first they recommend. Drink enough to be hydrated and wait to drink the camel size volume when you can handle it. See #1 Be patient with yourself.
    Good luck!

shrinkingkris reacted to AZhiker in 10 days out - What's your single, best piece of advice?
    1) Work on addictions BEFORE surgery - get rid of the caffeine, alcohol, carbs, and sugar so you don't go through withdrawal while you are recovering.
    2) Develop some mantras to get you through challenging times. "I AM NOT GOING BACK!" "I can't have this now, but I will have it again -later." "It's just not worth it."
    3) Listen to your body to tell you if you need to go slower with your diet advancement. The surgeon can give you guidelines, but your body may not be ready yet for certain foods. Don't be afraid to take it real slow and easy.
    4) Don't compare your progress to anyone else and think your journey has to be the same as theirs.
    5) Start exercising right away - walking, walking , walking. Start building this into your new lifestyle from the start. Advance to other exercise forms as you heal.
    6) ABOVE ALL - keep a positive mindset. This is hard, but it is the start of a whole new life for you. Use each challenge to reframe your thinking from a negative to a positive. The early weeks are hard, but they really will pass and you get to chose if it is a positive experience or a negative one. It sounds like you are going to do great!

    Hi there,
I'm 10 days out and am getting excited and nervous. I am marinating on the permanent implications of what I'm about to do. I am also choosing to focus on the gains - that being my health - over the losses that I feel I am going to grieve.
If you've had the surgery, what is your best piece of advice or thought?
    Thanks,
