    Water intake and outflow

I drink close to a gallon of water a day and I realize that I don't have to go nearly as often. On the bright side of things is I never wake up in the middle of the night to go. So I take the good with the bad.
  2. How are you getting protein fluids and meds , do they tell you what the new stomache capacity is , are you on pain meds, blood thinner shots ? It sounds like you are doing really well. Congrats. My pre op is next week.

      DEADWRONG

I am now 8 days post-op. I had my surgery on Thursday and came back to work Tuesday. I had no problems with nausea. The first couple of days took some work to drink my protein drinks. I'm doing several varieties of clear protein in different flavors. I just couldn't swallow much at once. Now I am doing much better. I average about 70 grams of protein and 90 ounces of fluids. I am constantly thirsty. I don't take any pain meds but I still have some Tylenol 3 with codeine. It does the trick. I do take the blood thinner shots. I have four more days of those. You don't even feel it the needle is so small. You will do great also. Just walk as much as possible as soon after your surgery as you can. Let me know if you have other questions.

  3. Hey everyone.  Happy Sunday!  Today is day three after surgery.  I am blessed to have the support of my family as well as members of this group.  You guys rock.  I had my surgery at 3 pm Thursday and I was determined to be walking as soon as possible.  I began doing laps around 7.  My wife was there motivating me as well as other patients who became part of the posse.  My pain was not bad at all but I did have bad gas.  I was worried about meeting my fluid and protein goals but I am surpassing both as of yesterday.  My only regret is putting this surgery off as long as I did.  Thanks guys and will talk again soon.

    Surgery is tomorrow

Thanks so much. I really needed to hear that.
  5. So tomorrow is the big day. I am a bag of emotions now. Excited, happy, anxious, stressed and hesitant at the same time. As much as I know that this is going to be the best thing I can do for myself, I feel as if I am losing part of myself. Food has always played a major role in my life. I love to cook and barbeque. Well everyone wish me luck.
