  1. Just had my last meal! Was talking to my daughter and she likened it to being on death row lmao. Tomorrow and Tuesday I am completely full liquids. Surgery Wednesday. Don't know what time though. My doctors website says 9am, but really I have to call Tuesday afternoon for the schedule. I hope I am early in the AM! Waiting is torture.
  2. I haven't been given any amounts for carbs either, for any stage. But, they also want me to avoid as many as many carbs as possible. I wish I had a goal number!
  3. Just research the doc well! My doc (Tucson AZ) takes care of a lot of patients from Mexico with complications. His "complications" rate for himself is very low, but much higher when you take into account his patients from Mexico. But, there are plenty of good docs there too. Some US docs won't care for patients that had surgery in Mexico due to the higher complication rates in Mexico, some will. Again, just do your research! I personally wouldn't have surgery in Mexico myself, but I also did not have any trouble getting insurance to approve it here in the US. Others have had great success with Mexico surgeries.
  4. I hear you! I am getting more crap from hubby and daughter than anyone else. This is important to me, and to my health... so screw them! lol
  5. I do the premier protein shakes, also 30 grams of protein. Need at least 60 grams of protein per day. My nutritionist also recommended (in addition to regular whey protein isolate) to have collagen peptides to add to other foods/broths. And I bought some premier protein clear to so I can get some protein when drinking fluids. The protein shakes should be primary source in the first days post-op... the other stuff supplements other protein in the diet.
  6. I am September 4th. I have to be full liquids by tomorrow, I basically eat between 7am-9pm. Throughout the day I have 3 meal replacement shakes. 2 cups of tea. 3 Greek Yogurts. 2 sugar free Jellos. 2 low sodium v-8s. 2 sugar free popsicles. 1 low sodium broth. Not in that order. I have a "schedule" I follow and eat/drink 1 item per hour.
  7. Yay! Good luck to you! I am so anxious for the 4th to come. Time is going too slowly for me.
  8. Yep, I read online that they were discontinued. I was very disappointed!
  9. Just noticed... Dr. Weiner is from my neck of the woods!
  10. Thanks! It looks like I started to watch that video once before, but it lost me when it was talking about blood pressure instead of weight (not an issue for me, so I moved on). Now I watched it through... and need to find the next video lol. It is pretty good. Won't do hubby any good, but maybe my daughter.
  11. Congratulations! Ignore the critical people. Follow doctors orders. And rest! And Walk lol. It only gets better from here!
  12. Thanks. He gets this way when he is stressed out. I have known this about him for our entire 23 year marriage. He can totally be an a*****e, but I know when to just ignore him most of the time. I just don't need this right now. This is about me, not him. And you just said it: "Not the easy way out". I think he and my daughter both think I am taking the easy way out. I am just sad to be reminded that I get more support from my co-worker who has been through this than my husband/daughter. He is trying. I know he is. And I know he will take care of me in the hospital and when I get home. But I could really use their support emotionally. Anyhow, thanks for the encouragement!
  13. My doctor/nutritionist do not want me to ever eat any product that contains yeast. Not sure why yeast specifically, but I know they do not want me to have most breads and similar products. They also do not want me to have any rice and only limited portions of wheat pasta. I CAN however eat 6-10 whole wheat crackers, so I am using that as my "bread". I think I am going to just have to do my best to do a mostly keto"ish" diet. I also just ordered cheese crisps to substitute crackers and add a little protein in their place. Not sure how I will like those yet. Ordered a variety so maybe I can find something tasty. Pre-packaged food: I am going to do my best to avoid all processed pre-packaged food. It usually isn't very healthy for you. But, if I do need something quick and easy I am not opposed to using them occasionally. But instead of frozen meals, I will try to get some fresher versions from local delis. Haven't tried the bariatric site meals, but I did buy some bariatric soups for after surgery.
  14. Vent warning! So, yesterday I worked my last shift at work, I have the weekend and the holiday off normally, then Tuesday I am off for another doctors appointment (unrelated). Surgery is Wednesday. I am ready. A little nervous, but mostly excited and anxious to get this done. Hubby is home for his normal day off. All he is doing is giving me crap about the unnecessary surgery and how I can lose all the weight if I just diet more and walk at least 5 miles a day. He conveniently has forgotten that I gained all the weight when I hit 40 and was doing EVERYTHING RIGHT! Including also walking EVERYWHERE. He also conveniently forgets all my failed diet and exercise attempts and how my health has been steadily going down hill with the weight gain. Or how many times he has helped to sabotage me. He is TRYING to be supportive, but he is berating and mocking me at every chance he gets. I know this is his stress talking. He is so afraid of surgery and he thinks of this as an elective/unnecessary procedure. HIS surgeries have complications. Mine are always fine thus far. I see it as a necessary procedure to help me regain my health. Anyhow... he was awful this morning. I finally got angry and nearly broke down in tears. When that happened he finally got his **** together and said he is supporting me. If he wasn't supporting me he would now have gotten time off of work to help me or drive me to/from the hospital. But that doesn't change what a jerk he is being. Just so frustrated! And of course, time feels slower now that I am so close. Need to move the clock forward. I desperately want to get past the surgery so he can stop freaking out and I can start recovering!
  15. I am the same day as you! Savory... I guess maybe spice up your pre-op broth? Everything else in my pre-op is a little on the sweet side.
  16. I seriously doubt I will need my inhaler, but they still want me to bring it. I will, "IF" I find it! GLASSES CLEANER! That is definitely something I need!
  17. I am about 40 minutes from the hospital when I drive... my husband drives slower lol
  18. Still pre-op... but last time I lost a lot of weight my shoe size went down a whole size. Definitely possible.
  19. I just bought and tried "Naked PB" in my vanilla protein shake. It was really good! Of the powdered peanut butters, I liked the nutrient contents best with this brand. Some complain about the lower salt content, but it was perfectly fine for me! I think I will use it when I want to add a little extra protein to my protein shakes or simply change the flavor. I might also use it if I make some smoothies later. Should last a long time and mixed very well.
  20. I totally concur! Excited, anxious, a little nervous... mine is Wednesday. I need to get it done and behind me! Good luck!
  21. I haven't had an in home sleep study yet... but had two in their sleep study clinic... for me, I would have had a much better chance of actually SLEEPING for the sleep study if it had been done at home! For my first one, I didn't fall asleep until about an hour before it was scheduled to end. Thankfully they did identify my sleep apnea, but they were forced to bring me back a 2nd time for the titration study. I barely slept that night as well lol.
  22. Just curious if there are things that you were either 1) glad you brought with to the hospital or 2) you wish you had thought to bring to the hospital. Or heck, anything you brought that was a total waste to bring lol My surgery is on Wed Sep 4th and I want to be prepared! I don't want to bring anything more than I need (plus as a nurse I know how much personal stuff can get in the way lol). I have to bring my CPAP, so that is a given. And my inhaler if I can find it (never use it lol). I will wear a loose comfy shirt and pants to/from the hospital and obviously bring clean underwear. I am sure I will want my own brush and toothbrush (going to forgo most toiletries since it is only an overnight stay). A decent pair of shoes to walk the halls in (thinking crocs because they are easy). I read someone comment that they were glad they had a pillow for the car ride home to hold against their belly, and will probably want to use it in the hospital (hate hospital pillows). Maybe I will have hubby put a blanket in the car too for the long ride home (oh wait, it is going to be 100 degrees, so maybe not lol). I know I will want my phone after surgery (hubby can hold it during surgery). The obvious: Insurance card (in hubbies wallet). Did you need your picture ID? I assume I will get a call about that this weekend from the hospital. Wasn't really planning to bring much else... but am I forgetting anything I should have? Kind of sad right now... they mentioned they might move me to September 3rd due to a cancellation, but it is Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend. If they haven't moved me already, I doubt it is getting moved! I call the hospital on Tuesday afternoon for the exact time I need to be at the hospital on Wednesday. Anxious to get this over and done with!
  23. They weren't cheap... but I plan to keep them for as long as I can, and hopefully never need to replace them. The ceramic plates/bowls were nice and heavy... they shouldn't break too easily. The bowls are quite big but have measurement markings all along the side. The plate is just bigger than a bread plate, but you can see how well a 3oz piece of chicken would fit perfectly in the protein spot. I can easily see using them regularly when at home. Not sure how the rings will work out... but going to give them a try!
  24. Oh, I like those! I also got these: https://www.amazon.com/Bariatric-Portion-Melamine-Gastrectomy-Perfection/dp/B01GO61UHU/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=bariatric+plate&qid=1567198280&s=gateway&sr=8-6 And these https://www.amazon.com/PortionMate-Bariatric-Surgery-Eating-Guide/dp/B077BB9TWG/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=portion%2Brings&qid=1567198325&s=gateway&sr=8-2&th=1
