These are great. I was afraid I would never be able to eat pizza after my surgery. Thin crust about 6 to 8 inches in diameter.

Major milestone breakthrough. Weighed 280 on surgery date 20 January. Just busted through 200 pounds. Now 199.2, down over 80 pounds or almost 30% of total body weight.

These are more like wraps, but they work well as tortillas, 5 g net carbs and 9 g Protein.

There are several different types of bariatric surgeries. The requirement for Protein Shakes will vary by the type of surgery. I had RNY and dropped 120 pounds in around 7 months. Weight loss is a function of meal volume control. Right after surgery I was limited to 2 ounces of food per meal. It was impossible for me to get in enough Protein from my meals alone. Thus I began using protein shakes. I didn't like them but I drank them. And I figured ways to improve the taste.
So the first comment is do not be too concerned if you fail to meet your protein and Fluid requirements in the beginning. During the first few weeks your body is in a major heal mode. Just keep working towards your goals and eventually you will get there.
In the following article, I discussed my approach to protein. As far as protein shakes are concerned, I found that by blending in a half a banana into the shake helped improve its taste substantially. There are many different types of protein shakes, experiment and try the various types until you find one that you can tolerate. You do not have to like them, just tolerate them. And there are many different tricks to enhance the flavor.

Keep in mind that every hospital is a little different, but I can tell you what they did where I had surgery. When I arrived, they took my temperature before they let me in the building (COVID precaution). Then I checked in and had to sign some paperwork, and then they took me to a room and told me to take off all my clothes (including underwear) and change into a hospital gown, grippy socks, and mask (I wore a cloth mask in, but they wanted me to change into a disposable mask). A nurse came in, weighed me, and took my blood pressure, then gave me a cup for a urine sample (pregnancy test). Based on your picture, you look like a woman of childbearing age, so they will almost certainly require a pregnancy test. This was an issue for me because I was not allowed to have anything to drink after midnight the night before, and I peed before I left the house, so I was not able to produce a urine sample at the hospital. The nurse pleaded with me to squeeze out three drops, and I tried, but I couldn't, so they had to do a blood test for pregnancy. The nurse told me the blood test would take longer and could result in delays, but that was not true at all because I can see the time on my results and the pregnancy test came back at the same time as the rest of the bloodwork (45 minutes after they drew the blood).
These are the blood tests I had the morning of surgery:
Pregnancy Comprehensive metabolic panel Complete blood count (CBC) After they drew blood, they did an EKG, which consisted of a nurse sticking leads all over my body and then hooking it up to a machine, and a doctor came in to look at the results. That part was very quick and easy. My surgeon said they normally do the bloodwork and EKG a few days before surgery, but they started doing it the day of surgery because of COVID precautions. I was worried that something would come back abnormal and they would cancel the surgery, but the surgeon assured me that was very, very rare. He said that the EKG and bloodwork are mainly so they have a basis for comparison after the surgery.
After the testing, they moved my bed into a staging area with a bunch of other patients. Several nurses came over one by one and introduced themselves, then asked me my name, date of birth, and what surgery I was having (they ask this over and over again and compare to the wristband to make sure they have the right patient for the right surgery). My surgeon stopped by and talked to me briefly. A nurse started an IV in my hand. The anesthesiologist came over and asked me a bunch of questions about my medical history. Another nurse said she was going to give me a heparin shot in my stomach, but then said she would wait until the Versed kicked in. I was lying there waiting for the nurse to come back, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up after surgery.
My surgeon did not test me for Vitamins before surgery, but my PCP and endocrinologist did. My Vitamin D was very low, so I was taking a prescription Vitamin D, but it was still low even after I had been taking the prescription for months (I am now on a higher dosage).

Don't put it off. I did for a couple of years and then had to have a piece of my colon removed because the polyp the found couldn't be removed during the colonoscopy. Luckily I now have 3 years to wait until the next one since the one I did in December prior to my surgery was clean.

I have had two robotically assisted surgeries. My sleeve was done robotically on January 16 and I had a piece of my colon removed in December 2018 robotically. There are lots of advantages. First is there is less incision pain. In laparoscopic surgeries the cannula move in the incisions. With robotically assisted surgeries the only movement is inside your abdomen. Second is the surgeon has much better magnified 3D view . Third is the can use a dye in your bloodstream which will fluoresce so the surgeon can see blood vessels better. Fourth is the surgeon has much more precise control over the instruments being use down to the millimeter. I am sure there are more, but those are the ones I remember. Robots may one day rise up and take over, but until that day, I reccomend robotically assisted surgery.

How much Protein are you getting daily? I was averaging 60 grams per day and had very low energy. Talked to my nutritionist and she recommended I up protein to 70 or even 80 grams per day. That helped me have more energy. I am shooting for 80 grams daily now.

On my liquids phase I could have sugar free popsicles, Jello and pudding. I took SF pudding and mixed two scoops of Protein Powder into it. This will bump the Protein up and help satisfy you. I also bought some popsicles molds and used them to make protein popsicles out of Protein Shakes. Just having that helped me. I also had greek yogurt. Dannon Oikos triple zero is good. Just remember to take small spoonfuls and wait between bites. I was taking anywhere between 30 to 60 seconds between spoonfuls.

It originated in Wuhan China. Historically flu strains are named after their place of origin. Hence Wuhan virus. More accurately it is Wuhan coronavirus. The disease it causes is named COVID 19. The official name of the virus is SARS-CoV-2. A coronavirus encompasses a wide variety of viruses, not just the Wuhan coronavirus. It is now being report that the death rate for those under 50 is 0.1%. Yes it is serious due to the transmission rate being higher than that of influenza, but the irrational fear being pumped out daily does nothing to help the situation.
