  2. Your insurance should cover it because most require you to have a BMI of 40. My BMI was over 40 to. My insurance require me to be on diet for 7 months going to my regular doctor to be weighed each month. I also had to keep a journal of what I ate and how much exercise I got. I was also required to go to a class on how to eat and a physical therapy class. Once I met the requirements I was approved in less than a week. It was all worth it I've only been banded 3 weeks and have lost 22 pounds.

  14. Hi I was banded on 02/19/09. I've lost 20 pounds. The hardest things for me is the diet you have to follow I did not know that it would be this hard. I'm confused on what I should eat plus I miss eating real food. I want to chew my food and I'm just sick of the creamy mushy foods. Can someone please tell me how you made it through these first few weeks? I know it will get better but it just sucks while your having to go through it.
  15. Right now I'm in the mushy stage of food I was just banded on 02/19/09. Next week I can have some protein. What kind of protein is best to start out on I don't want to dislocate my band. Also is it best to pureed the protein or is it o.k. to take small bites. I'm so confused any advise would be appreciated.
  16. Hi and welcome!!! I was banded on 02/19/09. I started my journey in May of 08. My insurance required me to see my family doctor for 7 months in a row. I had to follow a diet and prove that I wasn't able to lose the weight on my own. I had to weigh once a month for 7 months. I also had to take a physical therapy class and a class on how to eat. After my 7 months was up I went to see my lap band doctor they turned in the paper work and I was approved by my company in less than a week.
