I cant wait to wear my slim days clothes again, especially my faux leather motorcycle jacket.

I cant wait to proudly walk with my child and just feel good about myself.

    Hello,
I am a newbie, and this is my first post. I have lurked on this forum a lot but never posted. I got my vsg 0n 29th June. Its been a rough ride. First I was in a lot of pain, and nausea. That ended by first 4-5 days.
But now the only food my new tummy seems to be tolerating is greek yogurt lassi. Protein Shakes make me gag I do think I am getting my Protein though.
Since this forum has helped a lot, I feel I should also share what is working for me. The greek yogurt (chobani 0%) is protein-rich, and I think I am getting ~40g protein (1/2 container) or more from it every day. The Protein2O tropical coconut is also saving me, I drink ~2 bottles or more - 15g protein/bottle/ I cannot tolerate many flavors, but this one is so soothing with coconut and pineapple. Also, I take everything very cold, like freezing, nowadays.
Another thing I love is making popsicles from syntax nectar flavors. I ordered some, and though I feel by itself it is too bland for a popsicle, I add tang(no sugar) 1 tbs or more in 20 oz Water and 1 or 2 pouches of nectar. Then freeze as popsicle- makes 6. That is like 4 g protein/popsicle, and I love SF popsicles currently. I also love putting some fruit chat masala on my popsicles, gives me the savory taste. This chat masala is from Indian grocery.
From reading another thread I also got a pregnancy pillow from Amazon and I am using it continuously, for sleeping or while sitting. I love my pillow, it has made such a difference in comfort. I have to sleep on my side(right), and I can do that with this pillow. Also I put one side on my tummy, then sit and type on the laptop, and do the same thing when sleeping, to prevent my dog from jumping on my stitches. This was very helpful when the incisions were fresh, now I feel they are mostly healed.
    I hope this helps someone.

RNY on July 6. My incisions are just itchy and tight feeling, but other than that, no significant pain. My only real pain at this time is when I put something in my new tummy that is doesn’t like. It cramps horribly until I can throw it all up, which sometimes takes hours 😢 So far, the new tummy does not like tuna or salmon or those soft white seeds in watermelon. All have been rejected by the tummy and the fishes both took around 6 hours of misery to get out of the tummy. I have not been brave enough to try any other meats. Tummy likes eggs, dairy, tofu, Beans, so I guess that sums up my food choices at this point. Hope everyone is progressing well post-op and pre-op alike.

Hello everyone hope everyone is doing good especially all us post ops. Listen I had something that just hit the spot today n I thought I would share because I have been struggling a bit I cannot seem to get enough Protein n Fluid in it’s like there isn’t enough time in the day. But I had to drop my child off at work today and there was a Dunkin Donuts on the other side of the highway so I stopped in the drive threw and got a small iced Decaf with sugar free vanilla flavor shot in it. I took it home and added 4 oz of fair life vanilla protein and a half packet of trivia. Oh my gosh it was fantastic. It took me like an hr to drink but it was amazing. Just thought I would share. Talk to you all latter!🙂

I had my bypass on the 15. Everything went well, although I'm still in pain. If I keep improving like this though I should be fine. Walking has really helped - it is slow and uncomfortable but it is a good thing.
I'm struggling to get in my Water and to eat what the doctor recommended. I'll hang in there and keep pushing. 💪

I am struggling with all the same thoughts & fears, and wondering if I really need to do something so drastic to my body in order to heal my relationship with food. And after I go through this soul searching, I know that after struggling with food addiction for nearly 5 decades, and knowing myself and my shortcomings, I need to forcefully disrupt the broken feedback loop between my stomach, heart and head. I am hopeful that this surgery will provide an initial strong restriction, and later a gentle reminder as my new stomach relaxes & heals; to always approach food mindfully and not mindlessly. I agree with everyone that being "left out" of social gatherings centered around food may make us feel hollow at first, but I think we have to recognize that our culture elevates food in an unhealthy way. I personally think we need to stop using food as a tool for shared social bonding and means to achieve emotional connection with others. I know food sharing in the context of creating social bonds is central in every culture likely back to our ancestral neanderthals, but that doesn't make it right. Maybe it was appropriate when we were hunter/gatherers and food was scarce, but we don't live in that world anymore - and maybe this psychological truth is central to understanding the epidemic of obesity. For me; these deep, tacit, perverted definitions of what food represents are at the core of why my experience of food evolved into an unfillable, aching, longing hole in me to begin with. I need to get comfortable with my body being empty, and not filled with food, get comfortable with all the difficult feelings I have been using food to erase and bury; and at this point in my life; for me, this surgery makes sense. My stomach is literally a part of me that isn't serving me any more, hasn't served me since I was a kid. I need it to survive, and that's it. I want to give it what it needs to survive, and that's it. I don't want a part of my body destroying the rest of my body. And this is a complicated subject, because we know that our mind is intimately involved in this process. There are drives for sustenance & survival rooted in our hypothalamus, ventral tegmental area, vagus nerve, brainstem, etc. that we cannot overcome and should not overcome; but when they are not working properly we need to retrain them. And where I am in my journey is that it seems this retraining cannot be accomplished through any other means, after having tried them all. I sincerely hope I am correct; it would be a terrible thing for us to be wrong about. Good luck to us all as we undertake this incomprehensibly difficult and infinitely meaningful, literal remodeling of our bodies in an effort to finally achieve a lasting remodeling of our minds.
Hope that all that rambling made sense! LOL! 🤣

Getting better, at home sitting or lying but sipping something all the time. Not using any painkillers and I have just some pain around my belly button which makes it difficult to move around, sit or stand up.
I have the energy to go shopping or play with the kids etc., if you would want to know, but I can't because of the belly button pain. Hope it helps.
