  1. hi friends! I hope you are all recovering well!. I am currently counting down.. I am so nervous, yet excited. Staying away from everyone in efforts of remaining covid free lol.
  2. good luck to everyone hitting the other side this week!
  3. Hi July friends, update on my hemoglobin levels. I wanted to share in the event someone else would benefit from knowing this. So my surgery was set for 6/29 but due to chronic anemia it was cancelled. My HBG was 7.1 on 6/17/2020, 7.7 on 6/22/2020 (received first round of IV with Venofer which didn't help much) because, my levels went up to just 8.1 on my 6/29/2020 labs. 6/29/2020 received 1st round of Ferahame at 510mg. on 7/6/2020 my labs showed my HBG went up to 10.0!!!! ? I received my second Farahame round today and it is expected that my HBG will be normal by next week. My hematologist is also giving me a 3rd round of Ferahame the week of my surgery. my surgery is set for 7/23/2020 please note I have a heavy menstrual cycle caused by my obesity (hormonal). I hope with the weight loss this all goes away. I am scheduled to see my PCP again next week, to redo my prep labs. I am also taking vitamins, which includes multivitamin, vitamin c ( helps absorb the iron), b12, and Hema-plex soft gels.
  4. Happy July everyone!!! I have a 22 day countdown. Yahooo!!!
  5. It is almost July! Let the countdown begin! I go back to my hematologist tomorrow for a second round of iron infusions. Never thought Id be excited to see my hemoglobin levels. I do not have a preop diet. However, I will begin one about 2 weeks before my surgery on 7/23. Good luck everyone.
  6. Hi gang. I’m back. My surgery is rescheduled for July 23rd. I had my. First iron infusion. I’m happy with this. Getting 500 mg of a medication via IV (forgot the name) which is suppose to be stronger and improve my anemia by a lot and I’ll be ready for surgery. I am excited and happy with the change. I was upset at first but the universe had other plans. FYI my hemoglobin is at 7.7.
  7. Update. I didn’t get clearance due to anemia. I have to go to see me hematologist for clearance. I’ll keep folks posted in case anyone else is going through the same. Looking as though I won’t have my surgery on 6/29. Bring in July.
  8. Morning everyone! Heading to see my PCP for clearance. Hopefully she clears me. Ahhhh. Good luck to everyone who is having their surgery today. Xoxox
  9. I am so nervous...I go back to my PCP tomorrow for clearance. My hemoglobin is low, I am praying she still approves me, as I am also scheduled to restart my iron infusions. I have heavy periods a few times a year due to my obesity and PCOS. Just my luck, during the quarantine I had a heavy period...I am scheduled for surgery 6/29. My program does not want me to lose any weight. My BMI is lower than 40 (currently 37.9), they fear my insurance will cancel me the day of surgery if I go too low. Weird. I have a 2 day pre-op diet. Currently 257lbs, I did lose a few lbs during quarantine. sorry yall, just a rant lol
  10. Hey there. i am sorry you having a tough time. i felt that way with my first surgery. Please remember that we are discouraged to use a straw. please reach out to your surgeon for support and guidance. Feel better soon!!!
  11. Were you anemic and still recieved medical clearance by PCP? I’m at a 9. So nervous. I hope I can still receive clearance. My PCOS makes boosting my Iron levels so difficult. I had iron infusions months back but it all went to waste due to irregular heavy periods. Ahhh.
  12. Hi everyone. I am having bypass 6/29 if all goes well with my preop labs. My PCP is a tough cookie. I think it will go well.
  13. Same here abie. Ahhh. Positive thoughts.
  14. Omg just checked my insurance website. I was approved!! I am so excited!!! Began this journey in June 2019. Surgery delayed due to covid19. NYC was hit so hard. My main focus was to stay safe despite normal feelings of disappointment. Surgery 6/29/2020. I am sooooooo delighted. The time is always right. Also just for context, Mypaperwork was submitted on Monday, took 2 days to be approved.
  15. Good luck Josh. You got this!!!
  16. I am finally having my surgery on 6/29/2020. It was originally scheduled for April 9, 2020. However, due to covid 19 it was cancelled. I am super excited. Now I am praying that my surgery is approved. They did not submit my paperwork before.
  17. I’m feeling so discouraged. I’m still at my needed weight loss goal. However, today I felt so down about my weight. Idle time is the devil’s time. I’ve been meditating and that’s been helpful. I am just scared to lose weight and be at a lower BMI. Such an odd place to be. I’m in NYC and chances of us getting elective surgery in the next 4 weeks seems low. However, I am thankful to be in good health. I pray for everyone!
  18. That’s great. I’m still waiting on mine from 4/9. I’m in NYC so who knows
  19. Hi over 65. Hope you are well and safe. I’ve been eating super clean. Lost a few lbs since I began to WFO. It’s been 2 weeks. I was schedule for surgery 4/9 which of course has been cancelled. I only have a 2 day preop diet before surgery and figure I should lose 8 to 10 more lbs on my on before surgery in the summer. Glad you’re working on eating healthier.
  20. My hospital has cancelled all elective surgeries until May 1st but they may extend it. Looks like I’ll be having surgery in July or August. I hope we are all safe, that’s top priority. My surgery can wait.
  21. Some updates that Will definitely delay surgery for me. Our governor Coumo reports that this health crisis will go on for months. Seems like there is no way on earth I’ll have surgery in May or June. I am looking at perhaps July. I began my journey in July 2019. I am hoping we all stay safe and healthy. Wishing positive vibes to you all. Xoxoxo
