I am one week post surgery and had my band removed and the bypass done in one surgery😁
I'm doing well.... not too much pain but an awful first 3 days due to the anastetic!!! Soooo hate the effects of that stuff!
I am not enjoying any Protein Shakes but keep on drinking them.... getting on around50g Protein a day... trying to increase.... ten pounds down already!! Happy with that

I hope I am only in this infamous stall phase too...... I am 4 weeks out today.from band to bypass revision.... and have lost a total of 1stone 5 1/2 pounds... but of that only 1 pound this week and 1 pound last week... I have a shake for breakfast.... a small low cal high Protein lunch and dinner... around 60___80 protein... not quite making my Fluid target... but very disappointed the last two weeks..... recovery wise I feel fine...

Wow our surgeon requires two nights in the hospital. I will say that every single day got better. The two hospital days were a blur of nausea, pain meds, peeing more than i could imagine etc. I will say the first week through friday was generally uncomfortable but definitely improved daily. I'm 3 weeks on Monday and doing really well. Can sleep on my stomach now and everything! Hang in there!

I went to see my surgeon yesterday for my 6 month check up. I have 1.4 pounds to lose to meet his weight loss goal. My official 6 months post op will be 20 April 2017. My surgeon and NUT are extremely happy with my progress and said that I have a greater chance of keeping the weight off due to my early success. I am so happy. I think that I should be at his weight loss goal before next Thursday. This was the best decision that I could have ever made. Who would have thought that being a loser could feel so good.

Went through the same, but I was never sure if it was due to the complications I had from my spleen bleed. When that happened I had a horrible time breathing and took quite some time to recover from that. Once I was back home I still got winded easily. Going up stairs was a chore and didn't take doing much to make me feel wiped out. I had to use the spiro thing as well, but that was more for preventing pneumonia.

I had my band removed and converted to gastric bypass on April 12 2017. Since the surgery I have gone from 320 to 287 as of today. Only thing I do miss is my morning coffee but since the surgery I have no more foot or knee pain. I have not needed my diabetes meds. Good luck to you the first couple of days is painful but after that you will do fine.

Nervous. Worried, and excited. I'm not worried about the surgery in the least. I have total faith in my doctor, primarily since i've had a hernia surgery with him before. I think the liquid diet only makes it harder, emotionally. I know that might sound strange but eating this way, and knowing that my eating habits not only have to change, but will be drastically curbed makes me anxious too. I don't consider myself a big eater. I typically can't get through more than a single slice of pizza at a sitting, or eat an entire cheeseburger. I think I'm a grazer. And I've been on prednisone for a muscle disease for 3 years hasn't helped with cravings and snacking. The muscle disease keeps me from solid exercise. But I cooked Breakfast for my family yesterday and ate a single strip of bacon and it was entirely amazing.
Not sure what my point is here. Super excited to be thinner and reduce future health issues for sure!!! That's a big one. But the little guy that sits on my shoulder is worried about what my diet will consist of and what I'll enjoy going forward. I know i'll need to find another focus maybe. Especially to be successful.
Bottom line, physically I'm entirely ready for this, mentally i'm nervous about my future. Weird?

Hi. I was moved up to stage 3 diet on Wednesday which is creamed Soups, puréed chicken (barf) and other stuff that makes me feel sick just thinking about. This has got to be the hardest stage because I don't know who the F could possibly purée a chicken and actually eat it, and if you have I have much respect for you. As for my Premier Protein shakes those make me gag now too. All I really intake is a yogurt and an Isopure or two and lots of Water. I am down 30lbs in 2 weeks so I'm not complaining about that it's just... this sucks. Next week I believe is tuna and chicken salad thank god. You know it's bad when your dying for a nice big salad lol. Sometimes when my head hunger is out of control I think to myself that I could have just died fat and happy. Ugh end rant.
    Ps. Please no lectures.

Started the high Protein pre-op diet last week. Feeling excited and nervous about surgery on 4/24. Scheduled a massage on 4/23 to help calm and last min nerves.

Had mine done in one procedure. Unfortunately they just don't know what they are facing until they are in there. I was lucky. Just hope for the best, they are doing it for your safety. Odds are with you being able to have it done.

I agree with you -- but it's a personal choice and what's right for you and me may not be right for everyone. For me, starting this journey is about being accountable and I need to be accountable to both myself and to those who care about me (including friends and acquaintances). It's a very personal choice and while I don't plan to "shout it from the rooftops," if asked, I plan to be honest about the fact that I had surgery. I don't think the kind of weight loss we're going to experience is possible for most of us without the surgery -- and I don't want to mislead anyone that a high Protein diet and exercise is all it takes. I think it also takes surgery and support and I need to be honest about that. Again, it's a personal choice, everyone's path is different, and what may work for me may not be right for you.

I had my surgery 16 days ago. My family and close friends know but I didn't tell my coworkers. I didn't even tell them I was going on leave. I go back May 1st and I've already lost 24# so I know I'm gonna get questions. I'm not trying to keep it a secret I just don't know how to go about telling them.

I'm in the middle of preparing for surgery, and no one but my husband and my doctor know. I've tried every diet out there, and nothing has worked. People who know me, love me, and work with me have seen my ups and downs through the years. I've done Weight Watchers at work, so my struggle to lose is not a secret. I am, however, reluctant to broadcast this based on my previous inability to to lose and maintain.

Not me, I wanna scream it from the top of the roof. But I just found out my cousin had it 2 years ago and told nearly no one. People just kinda thought she used meds or went on a low carb diet. For the first time in her life she reached healthy weight, but she had been able to go below 200 before with dieting. So everyone thought she just did that again. I was pleasantly surprised when she told me the other day, thinking that explains ALOT I wouldn't worry to much, IF people start asking. Just tell the you are trying out low carb diet or something.
