    YAY! for YOU!!
My milestone came yesterday in the doctor's office. When I got on the scale, I was able to move the lower weight thingy from the 250 mark to the 200 mark!! I even made a 20 sec. video of the weight being moved. The doctor was laughing SO hard. She patted me on the shoulder & said I deserved to video anything I want! LOL!

The surgery went very well. I was sore afterward, but not in actual pain. They gave me a prescription for a pain killer, but I only used them the 1st 2 nights at home. After that, I didn't need them.
I spent 1 night in the hospital.
    Mom -surgery
    Tues - home
    Wed - rested.
Thurs - I was driving around - just another normal day. LOL!

I am doing GREAT!! I wished I had listened to my doctor who had been urging me to have the surgery two years ago!!
My surgery was 7 weeks ago today. So far, I have lost a little over 50 pounds. I am not feeling hungry, which makes it SO much easier.
  5. Congrats!

So prior to the surgery I started out at 261lbs right now I'm 226 which is 35lbs down. I was wearing a super snug size 18 before surgery. I probably needed a size 20, but i refused to buy more pants.

So my size 15 pants last fit me when I was 235 and they were uncomfortably tight. I was like to myself "hey those ripped up jeans I fit into them at 235 and I'm 226 now I should be able to wear them!" So I try them on and omgee the fit and they aren't tight at all! They fit perfect. So i went even further back into my closet and found some size 14's and they fit too! They are snug as you can see the belly rolls lol, but ill take it! lol I haven't been able to fit into them for the past 7yrs.

So I'm about a size 14/15 right now which is super exciting for me. When I look at myself I don't see much change even though I have lost 35lbs and 27inches all over. I have 100lbs to lose stuck in my head so it makes me feel like I've lost nothing in comparison. But i gotta stop thinking that way and be happy for the smaller victories that lead up to the big one!

My original date of June 17 had to be cancelled because I failed my stress test, which in turn caused the surgery to be postponed. Everything’s OK now & I officially have a new date! July 22nd awaits! I’m excited, nervous & pumped all at once. The countdown begins!

May I suggest-- Do not go into the surgery looking forward to WHEN you can eat again.
Instead, concentrate on HOW you eat.
You MUST learn to have a new relationship with food. If you don't change that, you just might be setting yourself up to fail.
Before my surgery, besides being on this forum & reading about the experiences of those who have had the same surgery, I spent a lot of time watching videos on YouTube. There are so many! I have my favorites, of course, but I still check out others.
There are even photos of the actual surgery! Don't watch if you're the squeamish type. LOL!
My point is, you shouldn't go into this as if it's some magic wand. It's a tool. You still have to work.
You MUST get your HEAD in the game!
  10. Congrats!

I had my 3rd of 6 monthly appointments with my team today. I was shocked when my surgeon said I was doing great and tentatively set my surgery for OCT 7th!. !!! Yikes !!! My insurance requires 6 months but counseling but will sometimes accept WeightWatchers for some of the time. I asked about that at the start and he said - let’s see how you do. He wants to try it since I have documentation from WW.
I was not prepared for that and am not sure I am ready but I feel like I should try as my insurance runs out early next year. I have a 9 month gap between that time and Medicare.
Insurance has 3 weeks to respond so if they take the entire time I will be starting my pre-op diet a week before I know (wouldn’t that suck).
I’m thrilled and scared to death!

I failed the stress test (part of my cardio clearance) I ended up having a cardiac catheterization two days after what was supposed to have been my sleeve surgery date (June 17). Once it was taken care of, I was rescheduled to July 22. 5 weeks later. That went fine. Now, nearly 6 weeks later, I've lost 50 lbs & am doing fine!

Excited about getting sleeve next week but I have been fighting more mental battles than physical ones with family and others telling me the reason I’m having the surgery is because I have “little self discipline “. Very hurtful. I’m wishing now I hadn’t told some people.

I’m 67. My story is similar. I also have a bad hip- bone on bone + arthritis. I was originally scheduled for VGS on June 17. For my clearance, I had to take a stress test. I failed!! It turns out I had a blockage in one of the arteries in my heart!! Instead of the VGS on the 17th, I underwent a cardiac Catheterization on the 19th. So M waiting for the final OK from the cardiologist & my doctor so I can reschedule. I just want to get this whole thing over with!

    WELCOME, LIZZIE!!
My doctor had been urging me to have the surgery for 2 years. I wasn't emotionally ready. When my hip was getting worse, I went to the orthopedic surgeon pretty much knowing I needed hip replacement surgery. He said I needed to lose weight before he could do the surgery safely. He's the one who recommended my bariatric surgeon. Their requirements included meeting with a Dietitian, Phycologist & 6 month weight study. My doctor, since I've been seeing him for over 25 years, had the weight info. He just went back 6 months & filled in the form. I think he was so happy I was finally doing it, he would have filled out 20 years of forms! LOL!
My 1st meeting with the Bariatric surgeon was 3/29/2019. My surgery was 7/22/2019. It could have been sooner (in May) but the date they had available conflicted with another event on my calendar, so I was scheduled for June. Then I failed my stress test (part of my clearance fo the surgery), so I ended up with the July date. I was lucky, I guess.
My doctor is very pleased. He kept teasing me about waiting 2 years. I'm SO glad I did it & yes, I wish (now) that I had it done years ago.
This site has been very helpful. While everyone's experiences are different, there's a lot of info. The Store has SO many products! Some are yummy... some not so much. I also found many YouTube videos that were inspiring and informative. There are even some of the actual surgery! WARNING: Don't watch if you're the squeamish type.
This was a long way around to tell you not to let the delay deter you. My surgery was 4 weeks ago today. I have lost 40 pounds. I have been taken off 2 of my diabetes meds. My happy moment today was when I was able to move the weight on the doctor's scale from the 250 to the 200 mark. One of the girls in my church told me, "Miss Nancy, you look smaller!"
    Believe me, it's worth it!

Good Morning lovely folks! I finally hit 100 down since surgery. I am 9 and a half months post op. Down 120 total! Super excited.. For those of you just beginning this journey you can and will make it. I still have about 50 to go to my goal, but i am getting there little by little. I am hoping at the year mark to be less than 30 to goal! I will be ok with that.. because i know i will eventually hit my goal no matter the duration.
Keep the faith, be strong, and stay on path.. dont compare yourself to others because this is your journey and yours alone. You will learn things as you go, your body will adjust and keep on moving.. Here is to the next 50!
