Stitches78 got a reaction from JamesL73 in feeling cold..
I live in Texas, and after the first week, I started noticing how cold I was getting. Usually it gets really hot in our house at night, so we have a fan that sits next to the bed. I've woken up under layers of covers. So, it's an advantage in the summer. We'll see how it goes when it gets cold. Of course it's only cold here for like 2 days out of the year.
  2. Congrats!

I just got home from the hospital. Surgery went smooth. Gas pain is the worst part. But at least I'm home

I have Water on me at all times. I was up walking most of the night. My wife stayed with me and between me getting up to pee every five minutes, and the people coming to take blood, bother of us got sleep. But, I'm really happy to not have to much pain. Just sore.

I have been doing good with walking. It does really help. I think the biggest challenge is getting all the Water down.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Leg pain
Tomorrow is the big day. On Sunday afternoon, I started getting pain in my right leg. It feels like I ran 40 miles carrying 100 pounds of weight on my right leg. I'm not sure if it might be from dehydration or maybe because I'm not getting my usual Vitamins since I've been on the diet. It feels better sometimes. But there is no pattern to it. Anyone else have fun leg pain?

I'm going Wednesday. I want to be done already. Work is dragging on because I'm anxious.

I had to do 6 months, with nutrition classes and a visit with a shrink. It's pretty normal.

Stitches78 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Hair losssssssss
This is something that was in the material my doctor gave me.

About half of our patients notice some Hair loss at 3-5 months after surgery, and half don’t notice any change. Sometimes the hair loss can be worrisome; the hairbrush fills every time, the shower and clothes and car are all covered with hair, etc. We believe this is caused by a response of the body to the stress and semi-starvation of the first few weeks after surgery. The hair loss begins as the hair roots “wake up” and begin to grow new hair, which pushes out the old. The hair loss usually lasts for 4-8 weeks. We do occasionally see patients whose hair visibly thins a bit, but very few patients have required wigs. Your hair will return to its normal thickness (probably with improved texture) over time. The best way to help your hair recover is to take the recommended supplements and to be sure your diet is protein-focused.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Foodies - honestly how bad is it?
This whole post has been good to read. I'm having surgery in 2 weeks. I have IBS and already have issues. However, I've been on medication and I've been taking a probiotic. It seems to help a lot and ever since I started doing that I have rarely had any IBS issues. My friend takes the same probiotic and has had improvement...so I think that might be important. I also took peppermint oil for awhile. That was helpful. Anyways, I keep seeing that everyone is different, and I hope to not have as much aggravation. Put I'm thinking the Probiotics are a big help. I never believed in them until my nutritionist recommended me trying them.

Oh, and I'm looking forward to cooking with better ingredients. I've already figured that I'll be saving money on food by not eating out that often and buying less...so I might as well buy better quality food.

My surgery is 3 days after yours, and I'm feeling all those emotions. It's enough that it's a surgery, but it's something that will change your life. I've been big ever since I was a kid. I was a skinny kid, and then I turned into a fat kid. food has been a huge part of my life. But, I keep reminding myself that this is for my health and my overall well being. It's not just so I look good. I already look good (I kid). But I want to feel better. I don't want to be tired and I don't want to feel uncomfortable. That's what I keep reminding myself of. I am having a huge amount of anxiety...but, from what I've heard, that's normal. So remember that. Only you can determine if you're ready. YOu must be, because if not, you wouldn't be at this point. You can do it, and it will all be ok.
