  1. Congrats!
Stitches78 got a reaction from Frustr8 in REGRET
I had regret for a short time. However, I've lost a lot of weight already, and even though I know it's going to slow down any day now, it's already improved things. So that is something to look forward to. The mental part of it is huge. My doctor made sure I knew I might regret it right after. We talked about it. I have actually gone and met with a therapist just to help with my food attachment issues. I'm finding that it's easier to take food out of it. That's important. My family did have this thing about food being involved in everything. And, I can still be a part of it, just don't eat everything they eat. I also started to learn new things to cook. Cooking with different herbs and spices to make food taste better. I'm just over a month out, and I'm learning what I can eat now, and I have to say that it helps to find a new recipe. Like I made hummus the other day. It came out great. It's finding a new way to enjoy food. So, while it's hard at first, it will get easier. It's an adjustment, but you'll be ok.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Tracyringo in Weighing your food on a food scale
I will weigh my food depending on what it is, and depending on how hungry I am. If I'm really hungry, I measure everything so I don't over do it. However, I'm pretty good at judging size. I was very strict about weighing and measuring at first...but sometimes, I just don't have the time to do that.

Stitches78 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Foodies - honestly how bad is it?
This whole post has been good to read. I'm having surgery in 2 weeks. I have IBS and already have issues. However, I've been on medication and I've been taking a probiotic. It seems to help a lot and ever since I started doing that I have rarely had any IBS issues. My friend takes the same probiotic and has had improvement...so I think that might be important. I also took peppermint oil for awhile. That was helpful. Anyways, I keep seeing that everyone is different, and I hope to not have as much aggravation. Put I'm thinking the Probiotics are a big help. I never believed in them until my nutritionist recommended me trying them.

Oh, and I'm looking forward to cooking with better ingredients. I've already figured that I'll be saving money on food by not eating out that often and buying less...so I might as well buy better quality food.

IBS? I have that and that's about what it sounds like. If you don't take a good probiotic, I recommend them.

20 minutes can be hard to hit. But, you should base it on how small your meal is. I barely eat anything, so it does me no good to make a very small meal last 30 minutes. Just eat as slow as you can.

Stitches78 got a reaction from BlueAngelEyes in Venting about my husband
My doctor made it a point to tell me that having surgery can cause marital issues. I got lucky. My wife decided she was going to use this as a chance to change things around for her. She and I are on a similar diet and she gets as much exercise as I do. We just cut out going out to eat. We do experiment with new recipes and everything, and that kind of helps keep the diet in check.
I used to take zoloft for my ocd. It should actually make him less hungry...but it can really screw with your sleep. It also makes you sweat a lot. I remember I went on a trip, and I was on a plane for 7 hours, and I was sweating the whole time. It was awful. The thing about those types of drugs, is you need to find the right ones that work for you. So, the zoloft might not be working. He needs to go see the doctor...and he needs to talk to someone. Just taking the drugs won't help, you have to work on your issues as well. I'm not sure if the bathing thing and teeth brushing was like that before...but he needs to kind of know that's not ok. And of course there will always be an excuse not to go to therapy. Hell, I came up with reasons not to go. Guys tend to see it as a weakness. But he needs to go. Clearly, something is going on, and it has to be addressed.
I also get the whole thing about having a device attached to you all the time. My wife is the same way. She's always got her face buried in her phone. Drives me nuts. There has to be some kind of rules. I hate to say that...but unfortunately, if that kind of behavior is not addressed, it will cause problems. He's not a child, but he's acting like one. I'm not sure what kind of talks you've had with him...but if he's not willing to do anything to make things better, it is not fair to you, nor your children. I'm not saying to dump him, but if you love him, and you want things to work out, then he needs to understand that things can't continue the way they are.
It's ok to come on here and gripe about things. We all need to get things out of us. It's healthy. I really hope things work out. It sucks to see someone self-destructing when you're trying to move things in a more positive direction. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works out.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Protein
If you like refried Beans, try those. I Water some down and put a little cheese on them. Get the low fat ones. I also found a cheese dip that had a good amount of Protein. But, I didn't hit my protein until after I got into the soft foods...even then it was hard. If you have a good shake, that should cover most of it. I used legion powder with lactose free milk. That was about 30 grams right there.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Struggling
They tell you that once they have all the paperwork, it can take a month...but mine took 2 days. And from what I've heard, others have had similar experiences. I'm just surprised the doctors scheduled it before they had approval. I'm sure it will come in.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Angel Stew in June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
6 weeks out and I think I'm pretty much back to normal. I've lost so much weight and feel great. I went back to my kung fu classes last night. It was great. Been hitting the weights and swimming as much as possible. I saw a few people saying they didn't have energy after a couple of weeks...don't worry, it will come back. It's completely normal. I have tons of energy as long as I keep up with everything and get all my Protein in. Hope everyone is doing good.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Cashunda in how often did you feel buyers remorse having the surgery
The pain sucked...but I think after a week and a half it was more of an annoyance. It's been 3 weeks, and I still have a little twinge here and there. And if I bend over for too long, I notice it. But, really, I don't regret it. I've lost 40 pounds. My clothes don't fit. The only thing I have a problem with is knowing when to stop. It's like 1 bite makes me feel full. But really, I think about how much better I already feel, and how much better it's going to get, and it keeps me going.

I find Peanut Butter to be tricky because of all the oil they use. Have you looked into PB fit? Probably shouldn't have it right away, but it's better for you than peanut butter.

Stitches78 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Will I be able to train muay Thai after gastric sleeve surgery?
It shouldn't be a problem. I was training in Wing Tsun. I stopped for surgery, and my doctor said I was fine to go back after about 6 weeks, or whatever my pain levels were. I'm going back next week.
