  1. My doc told me to eat softer foods for a day. I had heard about the liquid thing too and asked him specifically "you mean I don't have to do liquids?" He said nope we don't do that anymore. I have been fine...:tongue2:
  2. I teach vocal music at the high school level. I love my job so much that it doesn't usually feel like one.
  3. Getting the band was the best decision I have ever made. I have no regrets. I had my first fill here in KC this past Wednesday. All is well. My 44 pounds lost is a triumph!
  4. Welcome!!! You will feel much better before long. I know it is the best thing I have ever done for myself in my life!! Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  5. Hey everybody. I have sorta been busy with work now that my teaching duties have resumed, mot to mention going to Europe for three weeks 21 days after my surgery. I decided to get my fill here in Kansas City and I just got it today. Wow how quick and easy is THAT! I didn't even have time to say ouch. He put in 3cc. I am down 44 pounds since I started this process (including the preop diet.) This is the best thing I could have ever done!!! I hope everybody else is doing well! Lose that weight!
  6. Candiland my price in Mexico was $7950 instead of the $16,500 that it would have cost me in Kansas City. Check it out.
  7. Hey there... Have you thought about going to Mexico and self paying? It can be less than half the USA cost. I have no regrets.
  8. Your posts are pretty funny to me because I was banded Monday and can hardly burp at all. I wondering when I WILL be able to burp!
  9. Hey there: I was banded in TJ Monday and all is fine. Everything was great in TJ for me, although I know nothing about the doctor you mentioned.
  10. How did you find your mexico experience??
  11. Awesome! I knew I couldn't be the only one! Yeah I tried egg drop soup too and actually had some the day after the surgery. The stuff I got here was a little to thick so I have been doing wanton which is perfect. Next week I can do egg drop full out I think!
  12. OK...I have decided that the Rachel Ray Chicken Broth is um...nasty :crying: ...well...less than desirable. So I have taken to going to a nearby Chinese Restaurant and ordering wanton soup without all of the veggies and the wonton. It works just like broth and tastes A LOT better to me. Anyone else do this??? So Far So Good!
  13. Everything went well as far as I can tell. The staff was friendly and helpful. All 9 of us being banded that day were fun and we helped each other get through the morning. We had a lot of fun talking before our surgeries. I felt most at ease after talking to the surgeon, Dr. Ortiz. What a down to earth great guy he is!!! I know I chose the right doctor. I am two days post and am feeling pretty good. I just have to get rid of some gas and decide what to take for the little acid reflux I think I have. Otherwise, things are great. My surgery was done in Tijuana so I am close to San Diego. I have three former students who live and work in San Diego now, so I contacted them and they showed me around town. I probably walked too much, but it was good to get out. I fly back home later tonight. I am so glad that the process is over, although, since I was self pay, my process was shorter than others. Everybody stay strong!! :tongue2:
  14. They gave me the option to do Atkins Induction phase, so I have been doing that for three weeks. The liquids will come after the surgery for me.
  15. It's half the price...$7950 rather than $16,500 and when you are self paying why would you pay double?
  16. Hey there. We have the same surgery date! I'm going to Mexico to have mine. I hope all goes well for you.
  17. Thanks guys! I don't think I will buy one until I can comfortably fit in a Mini Cooper. I love them>>>>
  18. Hey all: My date to be banded it June 9th and I'm proud of myself that I had the will and means to self pay! Friday I pressed send and sent the last $5400 of the nearly $8000 through Paypal. I am thankful that I had the money, although I was saving to buy another car. Currently I am driving a 1975 Chevy Nova. It runs well and gets me where I need to go. I chose to use the money for the surgery instead of buying another car. I'll just start saving again for the car. I don't believe in car payments (Thanks to Dave Ramsey). Pray for me on the 9th as I go to Mexico to be banded.
  19. My Band date is June 9th in TJ Mexico!!!
  20. Congrats!!! June 9 for me..
