Why did you stop taking it? They gave me my Lexapro in the hospital after surgery. For the first few weeks after surgery I was really emotional and everything was off-kilter, but then went back to normal. (My normal "just super anxious but not insanely cry-y" self) Your new feelings may be temporary and you may need the Cymbalta again. I'd definitely ask your psychiatrist if you should have stopped taking it.

@Vanessa Blair—I’m 8 months post VSG and I was recently discussing this same issue with my therapist. I feel like I have no emotions, very cold. I also happen to be going through a divorce. She thought it might be because I’m in my all business, super confident mode between my weight loss & marriage. Unfortunately, someone close to my son recently committed suicide and I found out I can cry and feel very sad. It was just kind of buried inside me for a while. Long answer, hope it helps...

Well I’m 4 days post op and just now able to walk upright.. lol I went to the gym to walk on the treadmill, I was so embarrassed as other people are walking fast, jogging and such, I’m only able to walk at 1.7 mph and still feel a little pain and couldn’t walk but about half a mile.. how long does the site usually hurt on the side the Dr takes the part of the stomach out?

The corset is designed to move your rib bones over time. Reality, weight loss did more for my mid-section and shape than the waist trainer. Weight lifting was a game changer for my curves/shape. Also fills out my loose skin a bit.😉

I went to my support group yesterday and the special speaker was a plastic surgeon from the hospital. He said its really genetic, age and other factors determined how quickly the skin snap back. You can get good weight trainers from Amazon. My doctor said no tight clothes within 3-4 weeks. Not sure what I am going to do because I wear body sharpers everyday under my clothes. LOL.
    Good luck with you surgery!

At the end of the day, you are at home with YOU! And you are doing this for you.. I have been a people pleaser all my life and at 47, I decided it me that deals with me! I have 2 people that are mad at me for doing it, but they are skinny people, they don’t know the hurt and the struggles that I have, so I have decided to smile and be nice to them and do it for ME.. I’m getting it done April 17, and I’m. Happy about it.. I’ve tried and failed so many times and I’m going to win at this.. do it for YOU.. not for anyone else,..

I'm 11 days out and still have trouble getting fluids and Protein in every day. Some days are better than others. I've decided that I am doing the best that I can and I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I'm getting more in today than when I started. Baby steps for me.

For clear ones I like Premiere Protein clear shakes, tastes like tropical punch, I get them at Sam's Club but I don't remember how much they cost, but they're reasonably priced.

Funny how a lot of us had/have the same fears about wls.
First, I too was afraid of going under and never waking up. When I did wake up afterwards, the first thought I had was "YES! I'm alive!!'.
Second, I was apprehensive about the lifestyle changes and that I would miss food/going out, or not be good about exercise, etc. Turns out it just came naturally. I don't have that longing or intense craving to eat. I still go out with friends and family and am completely fine eating very little or not at all (it's their company I really want, anyway). Even the non-drinking/very-little-drinking is fine with me too. As for exercise, I find that I actually want to do something instead of force myself to. This may be because exercise is easier now because I'm not so big, or it may be because I just like how I feel when I do exercise. Before when I was bored or antsy, I would go into the pantry to look for something to eat. Now I get outside to go for a walk, or go to the gym or basement gym, or do some house-cleaning, or anything at all that has me up on my feet and moving.
Getting this surgery is one of the best things I have done for myself.

Hi, shanshan. During my 6 month period of nutrition visits I was afraid of the huge lifestyle changes and not knowing if I could do it. However, as the time approached, and I got my head in the game, those fears went away. Day of surgery I wad totally ready, vool as a cucumber, and had mo fear or nervousness at all. That was 2 weeks ago. I'm happy I had the surgery and confident I will be successful. I think this is 90 percent mental!!!
