  1. Just an update. I was 236 lbs in 7th grade. Went as high as 340 in early 20's. March of 2019 I was weighing 280. Started 2 week preop diet at 274. Surgery was 7-23-19 and now 6.5 months later I am 173lbs. Initial goal was 175 (5'7") but still have some more to lose so setting goal around 165 before I start trying to add some muscle back. Stayed around 600 cal and 60g protein for about 4.5 months then tried to up it around 800 and 100g protein, that seemed to work ok. Occasionally I'll hit 1000 but other days struggle to get 600. Very little hunger, just know when I NEED to eat. Food just not that important to me anymore. Still foamies and throw up when I eat to fast. Very little I can't eat, haven't really tried breads or pastas though. Heartburn got bad had to start omeprazole again. Helluva year, ruptured aortic aneurysm last January with aortic valve replacement, sleeve in july, vasectomy in December and new baby boy 12-31! Just wanted to offer a little encouragement to those considering this or new in the process. No regrets, sure sometimes I miss sitting down and gorging but I just try to remember what it felt like afterwards. Lots of positives, clothes that fit right, chairs that seem to big, etc...sucked to get rid of perfectly good clothes that were never wore and by the time you try to wear something else, it's to big. Nice trade off I guess. Anyway, just my story. I'm almost 44 and wish I'd done this sooner. Just like everyone else I had my doubts before surgery but it was definitely a good choice.
  2. I'm 7 weeks out and lost 28 lbs...seemed slow to me also after seeing some of these numbers people post, but I started doing my research and just as catwoman7 stated, those numbers are 600 lb life type people. I started with BMI of around 43. 4 lbs a week is fine to me. Before wls I would have gotten discouraged by now and started eating piss poor again, but with the sleeve it keeps me from overeating and craving food, seems crazy for me to feel that way about food😀.

    July Sleevers Update

Height: 5' 7" Surgery Date: 7-23 Starting Weight: 280 Surgery Weight: 255 Current Weight : 227 It does me good to see these real weight loss numbers. Sometimes I feel I am not losing fast enough. I think it's because I see some results posted that seem to be unachievable. I'm guessing they are either from the ones who are very heavy or exaggerated numbers. I rarely hit 600 cal a day, protein ALWAYS at least 65 grams, still have issues with meats every once in a while, threw up on 2 oz of pork roast 9-7, but that has been only time of getting sick. Often uncomfortable after eating and always burping loud! Liquids are a lot better, still cant chug water but I can do a lot more than just sip. Haven't tried many foods other than meats and cheeses and soft stage puddings and jellos but really havent been any issues except for eggs at first (used to be my favorite, but now can hardly handle them). I am really wanting to try sc one green beans or steamed broccoli to help with constipation. Does all this sound familiar to all y'all newbies? Any hints/tricks that y'all learned?

    JULY SLEEVERS

I was sleeved July 23rd and down 17 since surgery but on day 20 the 3 week stall hit and I've been stuck for 4 days. Still on puree/soft...cant do eggs, salmon was so/so...still using shakes to meet goals...sometimes 1/4 cup food ok but others it's just doesn't seem worth it..definitely still learning and trying to figure this thing out. Still no energy..when did some of y'all start to get more energy? Getting about 70 g protein and <600 cal.

    6 Days Pot Op

Strange how pain is different for people..I had open heart surgery in January and the 1st 16 hours post sleeve was worse than recovery from open heart..I was up and walking 6 hours after surgery but the gas pain....dang!
  11. I'll be glad to participate because this helps a newbie like me a lot, but I'm still trying to figure out this eating thing....18 days out and having problems eating much of anything...been going back to protein shakes to meet goals.

    Spaghetti

Do you spiral them yourself? If so what's good to use?

    Spaghetti

The shirataki noodles always cramped up my stomach, that was before sleeve..but they had a nice texture...I'm no where near trying them post sleeve (16 days out)
  14. I put chicken soup flavored protein powder in broccoli and cheese...it was delicious..
  15. Thanks for this thread...I check it often..I go to my 2 week check up in the morning and I'm hoping he puts me on pureed foods. Really tired of protein shakes. It's been really nice to see what the seasoned sleevers are eating throughout the day..although y'all do make me hungry....head hungry I guess, because I'm not sure I'll be able to tolerate much.
