Hang in there, I had my surgery in February and the 3rd month was the toughest for me so far. I'm on my 4th month now and I'm losing weight again. I've decided to help out my gastric bypass procedure by walking more...😆
  2. Thanks
med28thmed got a reaction from Texas___Sleeved in Anyone else not losing?
The doctor explained that I would lose weight like the "stairs", instead of the "slide". It's not going to be smooth sailing all the way down. Our body will lose the weight but we must give it chance to regroup and refit our skins.
My surgery was in Feb 2019. My slowest progress so far was on my 3rd month (May). Once June came around, my progress increased again.
    Good job exercising everyday.
Congratulations on losing 55 lbs. I recently lifted a 10 pound potato sack and it was "HEAVY"... So 55 is a lot! Awesome job!
Hang in there friend. We'll be skinny someday....soooon!

I started having acne too, and I thought my face has gotten oilier from the new foods I'm eating after the surgery. I changed my moisturizer and face cleanser to oil free. From Oil of Olay, I am now using Water base Nutrigena moisturizer and I forgot the brand of my cleanser and I'm at work right now. But in any case, people are noticing that my face has cleared and glowing too they said.. ha! Hope it continues to clear.

med28thmed got a reaction from Frustr8 in Feeling "weepy" & sad
My love affair with food had to stop and I found that, the most depressing during my first 2 months post op. I loved having lunches with my co-workers, drinking and partying on the weekend with friends and hubby.... and then I had to completely change my lifestyle! I can't eat with people because I lose focus and end up throwing up. I stayed home on my weekends too.... BUT..... little by little, I started learning how my new stomach works. Slowly but surely, I started socializing again and eating at the same time without getting sick.
Give it time. Be patient. You're gonna be great!
See your doctor if it gets too bad.

Yes, I agree with everything Mousecat said 😂.. I'm 4 months post op, and I feel sooo much better this month than last month. I am somewhat back to having fun with my friends on the weekends, but normally I would consume loads and loads of Vodka and beer... So, my new normal is 1 to 2 Michelob Ultra. Normally I would just lounge around watch tv after work, our new normal is to walk about 40 minutes after dinner. Normally I wear a size 2X and jeans 18-20, I now can fit into a L-XL and size 12 jeans! whoo hooo.... I like the new Normal Me!
Give it time. You will feel all sorts of weird stuff after the surgery but always remember why you did it..... You got this!

You've got to get rid of that head hunger. The surgery is a tool to help with your real stomach hunger, but the head hunger is up to us to manage. Have you considered therapy or group counseling at your bariatric office?

You have to eat A LOT of fat to be on a true Keto diet and get into ketosis. It's doable but I prefer to focus on a high protein/ low sugar diet, I think its more sustainable long term.

After my surgery, I stay away from carbs because I tend to get full very, very quickly. I can eat a huge bowl of chicken salad, lots of yogurt and fruits, but one or two bites of Pasta, I'm done. I eat cheeseburgers w/out the bun, if I want to keep eating.
I've been on diet all my life, I'm trying not to restrict myself again with anything. It's working for me. Once I crave something, it's gonna be in my head and ultimately drives me crazy. With the WLS, I can have a taste, satisfy my craving, but not overindulge. You'll find out. It's going to be exciting, and You'll be amazing! Good Luck.

Congratulations February Brothers and Sisters! May was a tough month for me, I encountered stall after stall... Stay strong, and thank you for all your kind and encouraging words... When I'm feeling annoyed, alone, lost, I know I go to this group and it makes me feel like I belong somewhere again.

    Dear Bookworm88,
It is so normal. You'll be feeling it throughout your first month or two. Stay focused on why you did it. My surgery was only 3 months ago, but I feel so good! I have energy, I walk with my dog everyday about 2 miles... I am planning on a snorkeling trip with my husband soon. I'm going to go to a family reunion soon and I can't wait to show off the new me! The new more active me. The more confident, healthier me!
Take your pain pills if it still hurts. Soon, you'll be able to eat regular food. The 2 week post op was the hardest for me, coz I was just ready to just eat already... But, you got this my friend, I promise.
    Sip. Sip. Sip.
    Walk. Walk. Walk.
Take your time, one day at a time.
    You sooo got this!
ps.....Buckle up, it's gonna be a wild, bumpy and UBER fun ride!
