i went to Blossom as well and they were great. I paid the amount I was quoted before surgery. Some of the tests/procedures were billed to my insurance but what I was quoted I paid. Very professional and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Good luck!

That's because many people on this board are very "anti-carb". Fresh, organic, not processed... doesn't count. If it contains "carbs" it's considered "unhealthy" by many users.

    @MGBinIsrael

Because you're eating slider foods! Porridge, papaya, banana, yogurt = slider foods deluxe.
And btw? You didn't mention you were male and 6'1". Yet another piece of the critical puzzle.
Eat dense Protein first for satiety along with healthy fats.
THEN eat dense veggies to your volume prescription. (mine is 1c/meal max)
THEN eat berries, nuts, seeds if you still have room.
    Avoid the carby stuff.
You will dramatically reduce your cravings, the number of times you eat, and up your weight loss.
But I will tell you? 55lbs for a 6'1" guy in 6months? Is crap weight loss. You are SQUANDERING your honeymoon period by eating too many carbs and too many cals for rapid weight loss. The end. Don't squander your honeymoon period. It will NEVER EVER EVER come again.

@FancyChristine15 I am not being defensive, two people here started causing me as a 'hoax'. My diet has made me lose 55 lbs so far, I have a proper nutritionist and with respect, I asked for input correct, but not be insulted.
I will continue to stick to what my surgeon and nutrionist recommend, I am on a 1,200 calorie diet, I am a 6'1 ft male, that is normal calorie intake for after MGB. So i do not know what people here are writing but respect the positive feedback and appreciate it greatly.
As for the negative, I don't care for it. thanks

@Healthy_life2 why is this a hoax? I do not understand??? Why on earth would someone come to a forum like this, and ask the community questions as a hoax. It is even more sad to think you know or can even think of people who do that in your life. Very upsetting and no this is not a hoax, why on earth!? Nevermind, I guess you have your own issues. All good thank you

My reaction to her food intake was "well there's the problem! Poor girl probably doesn't realize that she is consuming HELLA carbs!" Ditch the OJ - thats full of sugar and is no better than drinking soda. Replace the bananas and papayas with berries - banana and papaya are high sugar fruits. You need to replace the carbs with Proteins - they will keep you fuller longer.
and speaking of Protein - WHY IS IT YOU ARENT HAVING ANY PROTEIN UNTIL DINNERTIME?! Seriously - there is a small amount in your soy milk and a small amount in the cream cheese. But a majority of your protein is the stuff you're eating after 6pm. No wonder you're hungry.

That's why I ask you to LIST EVERYTHING YOU'RE EATING! Gah. How hard is it to do that?
At 6 months I'd lost most of my weight. At 9 months out I was at 1st goal of 150 and surpassed the weight goal my RD/doc had set for me. I'm now at 14 months working on my last Goal #3 of 130lbs. I'm at 137.8lbs today. So I'm clearly doing something right. There are stalls all the time. I continue to eat the foods that I know work for me. I meet my lean Protein goals for the day, I keep my healthy veggie carbs low, I keep fat low. I keep calories in a range of 650-850/day for losing mode. And that's what I do. It works. You cannot game the system. If you are stuck for months, then you are clearly eating too much or too much of the wrong things for weight loss. It's as simple as that. You are maintaining. Or regaining.

I take 2 drugs that can cause weight gain. And I have to be extra sharp to eat to my calorie/macro window so I can lose. Weight loss isn't impossible with underlying issues, it is just a matter of being much, much harder.

My surgeon put my mind at ease. I asked her about the lady saying she only removed 20% of stomach.
She said it is possible for patients to let their stomach stretch when not sticking to good eating habits. Those patients tend to blame the doctor and do best being switched to bypass.

Yes ,I don't tolerate bovine products well (not lactose intolerance) so I have to pick and choose which items I will suffer for. Life long struggle. Generally yogurt, kefir and some cheeses are OK but milk and meat are a no go for me. I live near farms so ive tried farm fresh as well. Sometimes I'm OK with half and half and isolates, but I have to cycle those out with vegan sub's. One of the reasons I was a vegetarian for so long. My body is just built for it.
As for the almond milk, I don't need it for the protein, I get that from food, and there aren't many carbs in it either.
    Attached is the label

My program gave me a card that says I’ve had surgery which only allows me to eat small portions so let me order off the kids menu. I’ve actually never used it (I try to get an app or a small salad with chicken, or a turkey burger no bun, etc). It is a thing! 😀

Ah Mrs Gamgee there are good and portions to My story. Lets see if I can summarize. Received my RnY on September 5th 2018, wonderful pain free surgery with a great surgeon, what more could I want? And for the first 2 weeks things were wonderful. At the end of the First Fortnight of my joy, I sensed I wasn't healing quite as expected. And being as I can be a "squeaky wheel" I started my "squeak" campaign. I called so frequently they grew to recognize my voice. And the nurses I talked to had varied answers- I was just swollen inside- I was expecting too much too soon. One even stated " I have degrees, I know what I am talking about, you're just worryIng too much!" Finally, I suspect to shut me up they scheduled an endoscopy for October 12, so I was about 6 weeks out, and who was right? ME ME ME! I had developed a stricture in my pouch , it was barely draining anything coming in, this partially explained why I was frequently puking up everything but thin liquids, and I had ulcerations in both my pouch and the section of small intestine, the jejunem, that my pouch was trying to empty into. MS Nurse might have all the degrees, but,i have lived in this body a good many years, I knew it wasn't doing right. My doctor's partner does the endoscopies, at first it was every other week, now I have moved out to monthlybut I still am not quite fixed. The 28th of November I was hospitalized for Protein anemia and malnourishment. I simply could not ingest enough protein on such a liquid diet, the ulcers not only were not healing, I was developing more in my small intestine, pretty sick little puppy, I was. So the afternoon of November 29th a PICC line was inserted in my upper left arm and I started TPN supplemental feedings, at first 24 hours, as I began to respond , 12 hours on, 12 hours off daily. And the line remained in place until February 26th 2019. I had been released after a week so,learned how to do my feedings with my son's assistance in the, home. And I really got used to having it,named it Catherine the catheter, and I learned to bypass all the liabilities, wore my pump and feeding bag in. a black backpack. Sure my weight loss almost screeched to a halt because I was on 1400 calories daily, I didn't care because I did feel better with. the 12 feedings, and I only had to attempt either one protein. shake meal or brothes once daily. Actually cried when it was removed. And I have started losing in earnest again, lost 30 pounds from February into late March, my weight is now 234.6, down from mid 260s when line removed. And I have been going through testings quite often this early part of 2019. Saw my cardiologist in January, she asked if I would mind having a MRI,just make sure everything okay. Sure I'm a pretty compliant person, no problem. Well in due time, a MRI was scheduled at her main hospital, she is in a different health system than my surgeon, most all mine now are either local or at Ohio State. she is affiliated with Trinity Health that, owes Mount Carmel so I had to go to Mount Carmel East, they sent me a pile of paper work to fill out and bring to the hospital. And there in Black and White is the reason this is being done. I have a thoracic aorta aneurysm and they are making sure it hasn't enlarged to a critical point where it will rupture or need surgery. It is especially upsetting since my son died at 31 from a ruptured aortic aneurysm, his was closer to the heart, but it means what we felt was a freak occurance, may have had a genetic component, another thing to know my genes may have killed my baby. Well it is stable, but they discovered I also have a renal cyst, didn't say which of my 3 kidneys it is on, would suspect one of the left ones. Called my urologist office, they aren't too worried. Then , as result of having weekly blood draws , which I had all the time I had the PICC. line, I am seriously deficient in Iron. Enough that I had to have an iron INFUSION. Then I had an episode where I could not turn my head, barely could move my neck, so we had to rule out meningitis. And the Cat Scan showed only severe cervical arthritis, But it also showed I had a thyroid nodule big enough for concern, so more testing there. Turns out I have multiple ones in both lobes, but the one that caught their attention is 1.8 cm, they would like to wait until it gets 2 to 2.5 cm. before we do more. Then you throw in pneumonia which hospitalized me for 26 hours until they could find the causative agent, an shoulder joint with inflammation and irritation, and had to have Fluid drained. Orthopaedic says it is time to remove the titanium plate and 12 screws he put in right arm 9 years ago when I fractured the humerus. 9 years ago, should be outpatient surgery, that was 3 weeks ago, when I see him April 1st I am going to tell him schedule ASAP because I have not been pain-free , not even one day since then. It is impacting my quality of life severely, can't sleep without pain meds and That's Not Good! And on April 12 I have another endoscopy, an EGJ, can't be EGD because my duodenum was bypassed and then last day of April is my bariatric surgeon appointment. And these are the HEALTHY- EST. Times of my life? Not too sure of that!
Maybe thinking about your future surgery will take my mind off of me? Sure worth a shot!

My mom is against me having it too! She says the same thing...I’ll never be able to “enjoy” meals again. From what it sounds like we will have to change our eating habits but eventually can enjoy most anything just not in large quantities. I’m due for surgery in April!

Hey I haven't got to that stage yet I'm still waiting but the dr did say I'll need a pre-op diet of either 3 Protein Shakes a day or 2 shakes and a small cup of vegetables or tuna, all high Protein, low carbs but the dietitian will make the specific directions when the time comes... But I've read tons of information on post op and to do liquid as long as you can for your body to adjust and heal must get protein and Water in every day protein helps heal.
Some people are able to move to solids sooner but personally I plan to stick to liquids and mush for long as I can to train my body to fill up on less food.. I really hope my hunger goes away!!
