  1. @jasmineinmymind Wow! I feel like I could've written that myself. I guess it's slow and steady for some of us. It's extremely disheartening, but I'm sure it will all be worth it. You're not alone. Not everyone loses massive amounts of weight immediately. I'm sure the scale will start moving again for us.
  2. And thank you for this Dana! I don't know if you noticed but I pretty much went silent. Thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone. ?
  3. Thank you!! I really appreciate it.
  4. Not too bad. I drink 3 protein shakes a day and they are 11 ounces each. I also drink about 2 16 oz bottles of water and usually a diet snapple. I could definitely do better. It's something I have to be more conscious of.
  5. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks post op and I still haven't lost any more weight, despite following my diet. This is clearly more than just a stall. 7 weeks out of the first 8 weeks post op and no weight loss?
  6. Sorry you're running into the same problem. Unfortunately, things have not gotten any better. Tomorrow I will 8 weeks out and aside from the initial 15lbs in the 1st week, I've only lost about 5 lbs, which to me is total BS! I'm doing everything I need to yet not losing any weight. It's really frustrating.
  7. It's so frustrating! I read about all these other people losing a few pounds a week, and most a lot during their 1st month. It's so disheartening. Why me!!?? I used to eat in 1 sitting what I'm now eating in a week, so how am I not losing weight? Ughh
  8. I am 5 1/2 weeks post op. I lost 15 lbs the 1st week, but I haven't lost anything since then. It's been over a month and the scale has not moved. This is crazy. I understand going through stalls, but 4 weeks out of the first 5 weeks?! I am following my diet to a T, I'm getting around 100 grams of protein a day, and I'm taking all my medications as prescribed. Why is this happening to me? Has this happened to anyone else?
  9. I haven't started taking my vitamins yet. My doctor said not to start until I'm eating actual foods, around 4 weeks. Vitamins without food to break them down can wreak havoc on your system. The omeprazole has been a life saver. You should talk to your doctor about it, as well as all the vitamins.
  10. Are you taking omeprazole? I'm on 20 milligrams twice a day. My heartburn and acid was bad for a few days until it started working. Now it's fine. I'm not focusing on 3 meals a day until I'm eating actual normal food. I can only eat a tablespoon at a time so right now I eat a spoonful of whatever mush I can, whenever I get that grumbly feeling. I've made a bunch of different purees to choose from, including hummus, guacamole, tuna and crab salad, pureed cheese with balsamic, yogurt, pudding, etc. I'll worry about 3 healthy meals once my stomach is healed and I can tolerate regular food. Plus 2 protein dhakes a day (30 grams each), and as much liquids as I can.
  11. It sounds like you and I are in similar situations. I'm 3 weeks post op. I lost my 1st week, but haven't lost any weight these last 2. It's so frustrating. I'm drinking protein drinks and eating mush, yet losing zero pounds. I'm pissed. Why did I go through hell for nothing?
  12. You had staples? Where? My incisions were stitched on the inside and then just taped on the outside.
  13. It's different for everyone. I was in extreme pain for the first 3 days, the moderate even with pain killers. I'm 2 weeks post op and I still have pain. Sometimes I fine, then I get sharp pains near my lower left incision. It helps when I massage the area and apply pressure. Good luck! I hope your pain doesn't last as long as mine.
  14. I'm 2 weeks post op. I was in a TON of pain as well. I read so much about people having hardly any pain so I was optimistic. I even read one person say it doesn't even feel like they had surgery. I literally yelled at my screen, "Well good for you!!". Lol. It just hits some people harder than others I guess. It will get better in a few days. I'm still in pain, but nothing like I was those 1st few days. I hope you feel better soon. Until then, don't try to be a hero. Stay up on your pain meds and don't push yourself. There are no awards for unnecessarily suffering!! I wish you the best.
  15. I was a big soda drinker, so transitioning to just water and/or flat drinks has been really difficult. I have noticed that it's better when it's ice cold. I can't drink room temperature or even refrigerated water without filling it halfway with ice. Also, I'm drinking diet snapple iced tea, propel lemon water, crystal light flavored water, and other random drinks in between drinking plain water. Again, the key for me is a lot of ice!! Hope that helps.
  16. I drink these and I love them. I tried a lot of different ones and they were gross, but these are delicious. I drink a cafe mocha in the morning and a vanilla Premier in the evening. That right there is 60 grams of protein. I get them both at walmart. (For whatever reason though they're in 2 different sections of the store.) And I like that I don't have to do anything. They're already made so I just refrigerate and drink.
  17. I'm also 2 weeks post op and I still have a lot of pain on my left side. I also haven't lost any weight this week, despite not eating anything. You're not alone. It sucks right now, but when we look back on these few crappy weeks it will be totally worth what we're getting out of it. ?
  18. Wow, you had surgery at 204lbs? That seems really low! I'm the same qith you when it comes to pills, I haven't had any problems. As far as the protein, I drink the Premier Protein shakes (pre-made). They're actually good and they have 30grams each. Plus it adds to my liquids count, which is always difficult to get enough in daily.
  19. I have Fibro and I'm 2 weeks post op. The night of the surgery I had the worst flare up of my life, I think because of the trauma to my body. My experience was awful. I was in so much pain for the 1st few days. I haven't had a flare up since though.
  20. I'm 2 weeks post op as well (yesterday) and I didn't lose any weight this week. So disheartening because I'm not eating anything. Just liquids, yogurt and a scrambled egg in the morning. I lost 15 lbs my first week, but nothing this week. You said you're eating too much. What are you eating? Are you on purees or have you eaten actual food? Just curious cause I'm starving!
  21. Today I'm 2 weeks post op. I lost 15 lbs my first week and I've lost zero lbs this week!! I've read a bunch of posts on here about having stalls, but this early?? It's so disheartening. I've been on nothing but liquids, then purees for the last 3 days so why aren't I losing weight? Nothing for an entire week! Ughhh. It really makes me have buyer's remorse. I know, (hope), it will get better and I'll hopefully lose, but right now I just want to hear some people say they went through the same thing early on and it turned out okay. Thanks for reading!
  22. I'm 1 week post op and doing well. I've lost 16lbs since surgery, 30lbs total since starting the preop liquid diet. My problem right now is hunger!! I'm so hungry. I've been eating jello, pudding, and cream soups as allowed, but I was wondering if anyone else has transitioned to purees early as long as they tolerate it? I have a friend who had the same surgery and she started eating pureed food 5 days post op. Thoughts?
