    justmetj got a reaction from rs in I know it's nobody's business BUT
    I'm telling EVERYBODY about my weight loss surgery. I know everyone has to make their own decision but here's the reasons I came to mine. First off it seems like it will be so much easier to tell the whole truth. Second- I want to help other people in my everyday life understand how much this surgery can help someone instead of having it stigmatized. Third- EVERYONE already knows. Believe me. Any time I was at work, when someone had a weight loss procedure done and didn't tell anyone or claimed they were working out and eating, right, after they left the room people would say, " Why don't he/she just tell the truth?" "It's obvious he/she had surgery ". People are not stupid. Especially ones you've worked with for years. Is it anybody's business? NO! Not at all. That's why I absolutely agree and see why some choose not to tell. It's your own business so you have every right to keep it to yourself. This is just my decision.

    I tell people. The way I see it, it has become a part of me, and who I am. I don't really care who knows, but I can understand why someone would want to keep it to themselves.

    justmetj reacted to fluffy562 in 5 months and I hit goal!
    Had surgery August 23 2017. Never thought I would of hit goal so fast. I mentally prepared for at least a year. I know that 70 pounds might not be much to some, but I too struggle and am an emotional eater. its been a whirlwind of fun and crazy emotions. I have decided to just tell people how I lost it, cause it has become so apparent and happened quickly and people were concerned I was sick. So far everyone has been positive ( at least to my face) and Its such a great feeling. I have been diligent on keeping to my diet. Mostly Protein, No sugar or Carbs. I take my supplements daily but struggle to remember the last Calcium of the night. Ive recently had my blood work done. waiting to hear. Hopefully everything is normal. ( keep fingers crossed) But I can say I haven't exercised at all! EEEK. it's been a mental thing. I HATE working out and I know that it needs to happen. my muscle mass is suffering and my skin is not pretty. i'm trying to jump start it. the weather hasn't helped. cold and raining and I'm freezing ( no body fat). I'm not perfect... I have had sips of soda here and there. I ate a couple chips on Super Bowl. I'm human and my problems aren't solved. I take it day by day and miss so many foods. This is all a learning curve and I'm happy to ride this journey.

    I've also told everyone. I understand why some people would want to keep it to themselves, as some see it as the easy way out....little do they know. I just don't really give a you know what what anyone thinks though.

    I have told people. I would be concerned if a friend suddenly started losing a lot of weight so I would rather let them know I am alright. Everyone needs to do what is comfortable for them.

    justmetj reacted to Samantha T in I got my psych appointment!
    I was there for 5 minutes and then he told me he would send it to my doctor's office. I was just nervous that I would be delayed. I'm so close to my surgery that I don't want anything to get in the way!

    kygirl - absolutely love your graphic icon! Hang in there - it WILL get better! Your feelings are totally understandable and normal.
    Give your new tummy/stomach grace as it needs to heal from the trauma and all liquids is soothing and key internally. You are in the most daunting phases, no doubt. It was in those times I'd review my bullet list reasons for having surgery. And, when your eating phase does progress - cottage cheese never tasted better! ;]
    Another hope and promise, at least for me, was to purchase two excellent, quality food bariatric cookbooks by Sarah Kent. I hated all the artificial tasting liquids from too sweet, bland or chalky. It gave a glimpse into favorite dishes edited for the new sleeve tummy. I have used her cookbooks through-out all phases which made things bearable. I am currently in week 5 of soft foods which I and my husband (fit and lean) are enjoying together. I am only able to eat ¼ cup at each meal, but again understanding the healing process of this vital organ while encouraging it to slowly regain its' function to digest + absorb solid foods for caloric health and well being.
    kygirl, I have found that this surgery is not for the faint hearted. It requires much grace toward your body and a determined kind of patience. Ergo, be good to yourself and pace accordingly. Tomorrow and the future will indeed take care of itself. You can do this! It will get better...

    I was so nervous about my psych interview also. I overthought and stressed about it because everyone had such different experiences with them that I didn't know what to expect. I can only tell you my experience was great. After doing an online questionnaire I was scheduled for a phone interview which consisted of questions about any history of depression, suicidal thoughts, why I wanted the surgery (for my health and mobility) if I was married or had any children and does my family support my decision for weight loss surgery. It felt like I was talking to one of my friends. Just be yourself and you'll be fine!

    Well I am looking forward to a SVN, a "scale victory now", there was a point where Tomkitten🐯and I were about 75 pounds apart, he is also losing a little bit but not like I am! Somewhere between Easter and Mothers Day I should equal or diminish past him! And then he can call me his LITTLE MAMA and I will rock it to the treetops! Thank you again Drs Needleman and Noria for being my surgical helpers , giving me a chance for a future out of Obesity. I may never make it past mere Overweight but I will be proud at any rate. And my current mantra will be;
    I SHALL MAKE THE REST OF MY LIFE THE BEST OF MY LIFE!😝🌈👍

    So I've never been Becky with the good hair. I've even tried Rogaine for women a few years ago. I know after surgery my fine thin hair is going to get thinner. I did some research on hair toppers then off to the salon I went yesterday. I tried on a topper and it looked AMAZING! My hair looked so full and healthy and it blended in with my own hair perfectly. I wish I would have done this years ago! Sadly I had to order it and it won't come for a week or two. But for anyone who is stressing over Hair loss I highly recommend looking into one.

    My Dr said that after I finish the six months it usually takes a month for the insurance to approve it and then a few weeks more for the surgery. So I'm guessing about mid May hopefully!

    They are a little expensive. The one I got was a 12 inch synthetic topper. The total with tax was $211.62. If you wanted a shorter one I think it would be cheaper. I'm a graying 49 year old and I am constantly having to do root touch ups so with the topper you can hide your gray a lot longer which I figure will save a ton of money and therefore pay for itself. But I'll tell ya the confidence I felt just having it on in the salon was so nice because my scalp can be slightly visible especially in overhead lighting and now I will never have to be embarrassed about that anymore.

    I also have ibs-d and have had it for about 15 years. This was also a concern of mine when I made my decision to start this journey and it still is. My Dr. told me that it was my decision to have either the rny or vsg. He said my ibs-d would more than likely remain the same with either. I'm choosing vsg simply because I feel my system moves food through it so fast now that I don't need anymore malabsorption issues. Hope this helps.
