  4. Yup, mine is on March 9, 2006 and I will start my optifast on Thursday. Not looking forward to that. Oh, and I am allowed a serving of veggies a day... hold me back!
  5. Is anyone here trying to plan the perfect "fib" to tell folks as to why they are having surgery? I really don't even want to tell my family because of the heat I may get. Of course, my dh knows and is very supportive. Any good ideas:)
  6. like many here I only decided in January. I do not have private insurance to cover it, so I will be paying the full $15,000 bill. I have had surgery before, and it was not that bad. I really had no pain ( jaw surgery) and I am hoping this will be the same. I too am concerned about the no drining bit. I drink A LOT with my meals, but since I know that will make the food slip through faster, I will need to stop that. My BMI is 36, but my doc still wants me to do the 2 week optifast to reduce fat around my liver.. I start Thursday  , but I had pancakes tonight and tomorrow something just as bad, kinda like my last supper. Oh well, this fasting period will be helpful during lent!
  7. My surgery date in March 9, 2006 in Mississauga, Canada. My biggest fears are that I die on the table ( oh so dramatic) or that I do not lose much weight. I start the Optifast on Thursday. I hope I am not too hungry. Is anyone else required to do teh optifast thing before surgery?
  8. You too argonsoleil! I just researched and decided on the lap band in January, and got a fairly quick date- have you looked into it for a while?
  9. thank you teamsura. Did you drop quire a bit of weight at first? I hear you can drop 30 lbs in the first two months... but yes slow is better
