    Anyone want to diagnose me?

Yes he was, on a Sunday morning the Saint LOL. I felt like a milkshake- back and forth and then he was like "there, there it is". Good on him!

    Anyone want to diagnose me?

Mine slipped. I went a long time with a slipped band because no one really thought it had slipped. I did a barium swallow and they "tipped" me during it in the machine. Voila!! They saw the pouch falling back into itself. Not only did I have the wrong sized band in me, it had slipped because it was too tight. After it was fixed, no more reflux either:)

    Protein Powder

Do you know if it has that "whey" taste to it? I have trouble getting it down if it does, but I would like to find a good protien powder.

    Dr. Joffe and the TLBC

When I read lappy’s email I did not think she was gossiping. I think that some people genuinely want to know what the circumstances are that he left under. I think if people knew why, there would be less speculation. And yes, I have to agree with lappy, not knowing and some of the other circumstances would make me wonder. Just because you don’t have a lot of posts under your belt does not mean your questions are any less valid. JMO.
  6. Andrew, You may wish to ask Dr. Cobourn for an itemized bill. The ins. co. requested that so they could see what they could cover. Anesthesia was also covered. I am having trouble getting the spell check to work. I have downloaded it, but it is still not working. Any suggestions from anyone?
  7. Hello all. I have Sun Life insurance and they paid about $3000 for surgeons fees etc, but not for the band. It is now under appeal with the insurance company, but who knows what will happen there.

    Bell Cell Phone

Hi Cloe, Call and ask for their "Resolution" department. Works magic. I even got a few months of free service when I told them how mad I was. Good luck:)

Looking for lapband doctor in Canada

Min was exactly $15 000 CDN dollars. The consult is $200, but they take that off the price of the surgery if you go ahead.
  10. Hello all, I had my lap band put in March 9 th and I am doing very well. The problem is that I started mushies and now I am up to solids faster than my doc advises. I feel very guilty and I am going to call my doc about it tomorrow. I have a full feeling early on and know when to stop and I chew chew chew. I am discouraged because I am not loosing weight now and I worry that I could be hurting myself. Any thoughts? Advice?

Eating solids 2 weeks after surgery

Ok, got the word from my very supportive doctor. Eating solids is fine as long as you CHEW. He suggests blender food as a lot of people need to learn to chew the food. He says I will not slip my band and I will not expand my stomach pouch. I feel better... Keep in mind your doc may have other ideas, this was jsut my experience!

    Post surgery truth

Ok, here it is. I have a 2 year old and 8 year old. You can NOT pick up the 2 year old, and that includes putting them in the car. I needed an adult home for four days ( including the day of the surgery) and then the 2 year old was in day care the rest of the week. My 8 year old helped me with a lot. Give yourself a good week with help. IMO it is better to have someone there too long than not long enough.

    Gnawing Pain in Stomach

Maybe not for everyone, but when I called doc he said to have start with some drinkable yogurt. He was thinking hunger pains, and it was. No probs since adding a thicker liquid. Just a thought.

    My date!

Good for you Bebabear! I wish this option was available to me when I was 17! I just got banded on March 9th, and so far so good. I was scared too but really it is ok. I am sure others on this web site would be interested in your experiences because you are one of the younger ones. Maybe you should start a thread looking for yound adults who are going through this too.

    Pre-Op Diet

It was a week before I went loopy. I put some chicken on a big bed of salad and dipped my fork into a little dressing ( like I used less than 1/2 a teaspoon) and it was soooo good. I lost 13 pounds over the two weeks so not too bad.

Would paying for someone else's band be offensive?

You know Wheetsin, I am crying right now. I have enjoyed all of your posts and think that you are a very smart person, beyond your years in wisdom. I am thinking of my own, young mother who died 4 months ago today. She had breast cancer, and the chemo that saved her from the breast cancer gave her leukemia which she died from. She was 55 and her 18 month old grandson will never remember her. I would give up everything I owned to have this woman back in my life and have a cure for what took her. Tell your mother that there is no greater gift than a grandparents love and that you will do anything to have her in your future children's life. Tell her she can pay you back by spoiling those grandkids with fairs and sleepovers and cookies in bed.

    Hypoglycemic Crashes

Weird, I have had the same thing. I was just banded on March 9, 2006 and it happened after eating yogurt.. anyone out there know why?

    Pre-Op Diet

Hey Argon... shhhhh, but if you call the Dr. Couburn's office and explain that you can not do this anymore Marie will tell you a little lean chicken would be ok.. at least it was for me.. shhhhhhh. It saved me.

    Unsupportive family members!!

I got this peice of advice from my mother once, and it is true. "Just because you are related does not mean you need to like the person". Perhaps they think they are being a good role model to their grandchildren by upseting you?? Pulllllllllllllllllezzzz. I am sorry you have to go through this
  24. I know this may sound morbid, but did anyone write letters to loved ones in case they died on the table? I am being banded on Thursday and I am struggling with this. I suppose I think that if I write letters I may be admitting that there is a chance I will croak.... Of course, if all goes well I will rip the letters up and no one will be the wiser. Any thoughts?
