    Hate meats

Aldis has a great meatless meatball. I top it with my favorite marinara sauce and a little parmesan cheese. I struggle eating meat since surgery. It is getting better at 6 months out, but it's still my least favorite thing to eat now. Good luck finding some good meatless options. You're not alone.
  6. Last week on my way to drop off my son at Camp Wakonda we stopped and picked him up some Mc Donalds along the way. He usually finishes his food so I had no worries. But this time he left like 1/3 of his fries in the car alone with me for the drive home. Now I've been so good at not ordering myself anything from Micky D's and resisting the temptation of stealing fries from him. But for some reason, maybe it was being all alone with them, I caved. I ate them all. It was so good. The grease, the salt, the starch. Unfortunately my stomach wasn't too happy with my decision. The whole hour and a half drive home I was completely miserable with abdominal pain and nausea. Never again!

    4th of July food?

Oh and I forgot to say, if you plan on trying new foods (since surgery). Eat just a bite and wait a bit, to see how you react before filling your pouch. You will know if it sits well, and safe to eat more. Even at 6 months out, I sometimes have bad reactions to new foods. And there's no rime or reason for it. I use to be able to eat anything. That's not so much the case anymore.

    4th of July food?

At that stage of starting to eat solids, I would stick to cold cuts and cheese. I know it sounds boring for a BBQ, but the last thing you want is to suffer the whole time with a bariatric episode. I wish you luck and tons of fun!

    Fruits and Veggies

Since I was able to eat solid foods, I haven't had a bad reaction to any fruit that I've tried. I use to eat a lot of apples and the small mandarins like cuties, but I've kinda burned out on them. Lately I've been into fruits like mango's, pineapple & nectarines. My dietician warned to not eat too much fruit, but it's never effected me in a negative way, so I eat what I want of it. I have only had one bad reaction to veggies and it was from The Panda King. It was a small serving of Broccoli Beef no rice, for some reason it didn't sit well. Salads are my go to veggie. But be warned, salads can be a slider food. For me I can eat a whole plate of it where as more dense food like meat I can't eat more than a few ounces at a time.

Questions for all of you that are post-op!!!

Haha that's funny you said that. Today was my 3 month post-op appointment, and guess what they wanted.. blood!

Questions for all of you that are post-op!!!

Congrats on your approval! 1) I started taking pills right away. Never had any problems with them. Your physician should be able to tell you when to start taking them. They do tend to fill you up, be prepared for that. 2) Once I was approved for surgery, I had one last office visit, they took my blood for something, can't remember what for. Then gave me a surgery date at that appointment. Everything else that was required was done before insurance approval. 3) It's a struggle at first after surgery, especially having such a strange diet compared to everyone else in the house. But hang in there, it gets so much easier to manage after month two. It starts becoming second nature, and you don't have to think about every little thing about your diet so closely. The real change comes when the weight starts dropping. You'll be able to do everyday things again that the weight has made a struggle. I've only come down 75lbs so far, and I'm already feeling like a new person..
  13. Sorry for not responding sooner. I actually was new to the cpap and just contacted my sleep doctor. I think the pcp can help you get referred to one. They didn't do another study, just lowered the pressure and it stopped. But due to the amount of weight I'm losing she said I may need to have another study done if it starts happening again.. Hope you figured it all out, my post is late. Yikes, that's a scary thought. I hope not.
  14. My two week pre-op liquid diet started Christmas eve last year. That was hard... lol
