  1. I just found out I can have eggs, sugar free pudding, and low fat cottage cheese!! Woo Hoo!!!
  2. Well guyz after all my whining and the 3 week setback we are good to go!! I had my fianl appointment with the surgeon yesterday afternoon, and signed my conscent form for surgery. I start my pre-op diet today :w00t: which consists of... Full Fluids 70 grams of Protein 64 ounces of Fluid daily 800-1000 calories daily low fat 0 sugar as FEW carbs as possible this times 11 days prior to surgery... May 23-June 2 Surgery June 3 I will be Busy for most of the week I have to go pick my mom up from amtrack on Wed. Be at middle school at 3:30am on Thurs. New York Field trip Thur, Fri, Sat, get back in wee hours of Morning on Sun. sleep and recover Sunday. 8th grade graduation on Monday Surgery on Tuesday The Field trip on the liquid diet may be tricky... so going to check out adkins shakes and low carb slimfast for that, I am just looking forward to getting through this weekend to the Busy week and I think I'll be ok :blushing: It still seems to good to be true... I know it's a tool and I have to do the work... I am just ready for a tool that will help me with the portion size and help me keep rolling with the motivation I have going now. I know EVERYONE who knows me is ready for me to be done with this cause im so excited I almost can't stand myself:embaressed_smile: Here's to a FAST 11 days!! Kim
  3. Officially start my preop diet today!! and in addition to what I posted as few carbs as possible. I did take in a few recipes that were approved by my nutritionist thought so that is good!! It will be all good I have a busy 10 days anyway so I hope that will help the time go FAST!!! It still doesn't seem real though?!?! I think I'll wake up in recovery thinking it's too good to be true and not real :blushing:
  4. have you already had your intital appointment with tammy?? If so I would try to make the support group meeting also... Dr. Bissell WILL ask when you get an appointment with him if you attended both... just FYI and the psyc is not bad... it's Dr. Hamilton right there at the hospital, and you see him twice, first appointment he asks a ton of questions, takes about an hour the second appointment he has you fill out a BUNCH of standardized tests, tons of bubble fill in forms from there he does a report and sends it in to Dr. Bissell's office.
  5. Yeah that was me :wink2: have you done all the bubble tests yet?? those are fun!!! (sorry about the sarcasm) See ya Tuesday!! I go tomorrow for my final appointment and start my preop diet on Friday, so we'll see what kind of shape I'm in on Tuesday. Kim
  6. The meetings are completely informal open forum... It's mainly just us asking each other questions and sharing with each other... there is a representative from Dr. Bissell's team there (Rhonda) and she distributes attendance to all the doctors of the people who attend so that they will get credit for attendance It's really great.. and usually just an hour long unless we get long winded :wink2:
  7. Sorry WLS = weight loss surgery
  8. Meetings are at 6:30 on the last Tuesday of every month at the Hospital in the Montgomery Room. (Down stairs from St. Albans) There is one on the 27th and they generally last about an hour. The last meeting the room was full and there was only one person who was there for bypass all others were bandsters  I will be coming from work so I will be the one in the Detention Home shirt Hope to see ya there!! Kim
  9. Dr. Bissell is doing my band June 3rd... I see him on Thursday this week and Tammy will be letting me know all about the pre-surgery diet I get to start Friday ... oh jjoy!! How did everything go with urs??
  10. Dr. Bissell is doing my band on June 3rd. He is wonderful!! We actually dealt with him a couple of years ago when my hubby had to have colon surgery and he was great. The support group at radford meets the last tuesday of every month at 630 in the Montgomery room... and he is strict about ppl attending there have been a ton of his patients who have been banded attending. Hope to maybe see ya'll there. Im in christiansburg btw... Work at juvie  Kim
  11. I am sorry to hear of your mothers troubles but it sounds exactly like a guy that we had at my work... he kept having to go in and have chest tubes to have Fluid taken off his lungs... he has been to 2 different "renound teaching" hospitals and even had the (sp) angioplastey (balloon up to heart) and they can find NOTHING wrong.. other then taking liters of fluid off of him at a time... it is serious enough to where he can not be off of oxygen and had to go on disability... and he has had no kind of WLS.... I hope for both him and ur mom that some one somewhere can figure something out just sounds exactly alike to me. Kim
  12. I have not been banded yet but I have been reading the heck out of these forums and did stumble across Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test maybe this would be something you could try?? good luck with school and the band  Kim
  13. Michelle that did make me smile  I have a little watch dog in my 12 year old... I asked for a drink last night and my older daughter was going to brink me a cup of regular tea with sugar and BooBoo (younger one) fussed at her and told her that mommys doctor said she couldnt have that to get my decaf. tea with splenda in it  So I am blessed with a good pair of pre-teen and teen (thank GOD) They even make sure I have walked or exercised everyday... They will keep me honest and being a healthy mom for them is worth ALL of it.. Kim
  14. Not a doctor or a nutritionist and not banded yet but ... If we are on fluids only and scarcely getting in enough to get our metabolism going we will not lose weight during that time. My nurtitionist told me to aim for 1000 calories pre and post op on my liquid diet but no less then 800 because it would be bad to not get enough and things would stall... Just my 2cents  Sorry had to edit this... When I am in the same postion you are please feel free to quote me !!!
  15. I ahvent been banded yet (June 3rd) My hope is when I've lost enough weight to get a tummy tuck that some of the skin that is removed will get rid of some of the scars  heres to hoping!!!
  16. The sobering thought that makes me shake my head is... in 20-30 years they will be the ones taking care of us..... but yes there are good ones inthe bunch that break your heart and make the job worth while. that's why I come to work everyday... some of them only get the Love we give them..
  17. Ask and make sure that they will not use the weight of your intital appointment for the insurance approval... I asked the same thing about what if I go under the 40 BMI with the presurgery diet. As long as they use the intial weight it does not matter how much I loose presurgery, or even b4 I got approved for the surgery... maybe yours will be the same... crossing fingers for ya Kim
  18. Teenagers are curel (when they want to be) Ok so I work at Juvie, and I am a shift supervisor. I WAS having a good day, scale is going in my favor... fit in to a pair of shorts I couldnt fit into b4, and then I came to work  I stepped out onto the floor during the meal as one of my staff were tied up in an intake and they needed an extra person on the floor. I am by the way one of the staff that they like the least, I am the one who gets to tell them how much time they get in room confinement if they are acting up while with us. Well there is a staff who works "A" shift who is a REAL peach and none of the kids like him, and he is looking like he is about 8 months pregnant but walks around with his chest all puffed out cause he is God's gift to the world. Anyway one of the boys noticed I had on the same kind of jean shorts the mr. "Peach" wears and goes on to say how sad it is that a lady fits into the same sizes of stuff as Mr. Peach. Your a lady, you shouldn't have to wear those. he says. Well I have been called alot of things when the kids are mad at me and most of them are centered around my weight. We are trained when we start working in an environment like this that you have to know what "buttons" kids will try to push to get a rise out of you, and generally I dont let it bother me at all but tonight it just flew all over me because we were on the floor and he was being loud enough for all the boys to hear. Some of them had the decency to be embarassed, but all this ranting to say.... Teenagers can be CRUEL:mad2: when they really want to be... if you have kids in middle or highschool and they come to you about something that has happened in school or where ever PLEASE listen and offer support and do not belittle what they are going through. Ok off my soap box!! I even enjoyed my nummy salad and told my staff, well if he thinks he's telling me something I dont already know he is mistaken, that is WHY I am doing something about it finally. __________________
  19. My surgeons office scehdules everything for the same day... so it was like marathon testing... but all done... they even got them for a day I was off work... they are GREAT.. and I am spoiled and luv it
  20. Hey Penny what do u do?? I am a shift supervisor at juvie and I am having to take 2 weeks off dr. orders and then when I come back I will limit my time on the floor with the kids just in case a fight or something breaks out... but as the supervisor I am not supposed to be restraining kids anyway  Almost never happens anyway (maybe 2 times in a year actually) Unless someone gets stupid and gets arrested then I get to process the females into the facility... so thats all the concern I have And I have an office I got a fridge for so I can keep all my food I can have in my office instead of what they have on the floor with the kids. An advantage overall LOL
  21. YAY kathy I am excited for you!! Know u have been waiting on that!! now u have an official countdown  Gratz
  22. WOW what a list!!! I start my full liquid diet the 23 of May... woo hoo anyone else who starts then?? Huggie
  23. I hear ya on the getting bored part... thank goodness for my I-pod!!!
  24. Ok just got back from the park.... I blended up my slimfast high protein and a banana and some ice and it was actually really gooood  I drank it on the way to the park... When I got to the park I did not pull in the space all the way so that I could use the "tire stopper??" to stretch the calves... I stood on it and let heels fall to stretch calves and stood on toes to stretch shins for a 10 count (X3) I also did ankle rotations 10 clock wise and 10 counter clockwise.... (X3) I kept my pace steady... a little slower then normal ... but steady.... and I felt my shin some but not really bad at all... and it walked out quite nicely... by the time I was on my way back to the car it was walked out completely... and felt good when I got back.... I did the same stretches when I got back to my car and drank a bottle of water on the way home... and I felt alot better when I got out of the car when I got home... I think I just need to concentrate on my "brisk walk" and resume the couch to 5K when I get that down pat.... at least I am getting my 3.5 miles in and am adding in another 3 minutes to my walk (making it 63 minutes total for 3.5 miles), with my heart rate still in the target heart rate area.... Sorry I am justifying to myself instead of feeling like I am failing and taking a step backwards.... thanx for the help and letting me whine and babble Kim
  25. Wow thanx guyz... hope you give me hope  I have not yet walked today... I am going to do my slimfast high protein and blend that banana right in with it!!! Then I am going to go to the park and I am going to STRETCH and walk!!! It's really cool timing cause I got got my new blender delivered by fed ex!! yay.... ok so here is to improvements and positive thinking!!! and the muscle stuff makes so much sense it is like duh :/ I can actually pull up on the edge of my desk while I am typing this!! so this should be easy to incorporate... and if it works believe me I will stick with it... anything to make my shins feel like they are not going to blow up!!! Thanx again guyz!! Kim
