Daisyjayne got a reaction from ms.sss in Question of lower BMI patients
I'm 5'6" and I weighed 230 pounds (104kg) on the day of my gastric sleeve on 8 October last year. I'm currently 168 pounds. My weight loss has been consistent and only slowed when I started doing bodypump a few weeks ago. I'm still dropping centimetres so trying not to freak about the scales. I'm only 12kg off my goal weight which seems incredible to me, only a few months ago I was obese, miserable and unfit - I feel like I have a new lease on life.

I had 6 weeks off (5 after the surgery), made up of annual leave and sick leave. It was great as I was pretty much back on normal foods when I went back.

food is a chore for me now. Which is exactly what I needed and wanted from the surgery. I'm 5 months out and still struggle to eat very smalls amounts. My tastebuds appear to have changed also, things I loved before just taste a bit blah.

What a ridiculous comment! It's a well known fact that the more you have to lose the faster you lose it. The closer you get to goal the harder it becomes!

Generally women also have a harder time losing weight particularly as we age due to hormonal changes.

Watermelon is one of the only things that tastes good to me after my sleeve - I have a bowl each night and it's the highlight of my day. I cut it up into little cubes and eat it slowly. So good. As mentioned above, it's good for Water content and fibre. The calories and sugar haven't seemed to affect my weight loss at all. No other fruit appeals to me at all, even Christmas cherries were blah to me this year

You guys have seen the skirt when I tried it on. I coupled it with an obi belt today and I think it works pretty well?

Actually, I did not lose it in 12 months. I had sleeve surgery in 2017 - had a leak and was in hospital for 3 months, lost some. Gained a lot back. Had Bypass surgery in February. Have lost and gained and lost again.
As for 'fake news'... Do you really believe that everyone loses at the same rate regardless of age, gender, genetics? Really? I'm not sure your science holds up.
But, at the end of the day, you have you ask yourself at some point... is it better to be right or kind? You have proven your point and made sure people know you are right. Now it's time to be kind.
Whether it is physical or mental, there are people who lose slowly and you have made your point on the scientific aspect of this. Now it's time for you to let people talk about what they want and need to talk about as part of THEIR weight loss journey. You do your journey and let others do theirs.

I was 63. Best decision I ever made. I have been given my life back! I was so heavy that I was becoming very limited in my mobility. I had to sit at work while charting, I couldn't get up off the floor, I had to stop at least 10 times just to get up our driveway (granted it is 1/4 mile on hill), my back and knees hurt ALL the time. I already had 1 knee replaced and the other was becoming unbearable.
Now, after surgery, I am training for my 2nd triathlon, have completed a 50 mile bike race, and am working toward a rim-to-rim (in one day) Grand Canyon hike later this year. My driveway is nothing now - I buzz up it without breaking a sweat. I can get on and off the floor very easily, I climb at least 30 flights of stairs a day, I stand all day at work instead of sitting, my sleep apnea is gone, my BP is normal, my resting pulse is in the mid 40's, my HDL, LDL, and triglycerides are phenomenal, and........... my back and knees don't hurt!!!!!! I have been given a new lease on life and I intend to live it as fully as possible, even with a late start!

I went shopping today and tried a skirt on that had a fit I am not usually confident in. But, I think with some Shapewear I can pull it off.

Daisyjayne got a reaction from B’ina in October 2019 surgery peeps?
I'm in my room now, all went well. I came out of the anaesthesic crying so my nerves really showed. Currently wired up to a drip and have a self dozer of Fentanyl so I'm no feeling any pain. Crushed ice is tasting amazing. I keep nodding off and having microsleeps, it's been at least 20 years since I had a general anaesthetic so I've forgotten how much it knocks you around. Oh and I've had some anti nausea medication as well. Have Ben felling woozy and sick if I try to stand up.
I'm so glad it's all over, and wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Good luck to every one with their surgeries coming up!

Did they check your ferritin stores? I've never been anaemic, my Iron levels are fine, but my stores were 6, they are supposed to range from 10-150. I was always tired and lightheaded until my iron infusion. For years and years no-one checked my stores, until I asked! Now I bore my friends and family banging on about how they need their ferritin checked, so sorry about that 😀
