    Need some statistics

I agree with the above responses. The key to weight loss surgery is your complete commitment for life. You must continue the plan, keep the dr appointments And do NOT return to your previous eating habits. I am 68 y o and 2 years post-op. I feel better than I have in decades. I still eat 6 times daily. My labs are great and I still follow up with dr appts. Yes, it is a lifestyle change, but after all that is what it is all about. Prayers for your confidence and success

6 Weeks Post Op - feeling great

I have had soda/pop since my surgery. I have it rarely and shake it up to reduce the carbonation. The carbonation creates more gas which can be uncomfortable. Carbonated water is very hard on our kidney function. Also drinking thru a straw can increase flatus. Maybe your son is not serious enough about his health if he gives up so easily. Praying he chose health over beer soon. It is a journey which should not be taken lightly. WLS is not for everyone. 😀😀

I am soooo sorry you are so miserable right now. Did your dr give you something for nausea? I know you know it will pass, but keep thinking about the 30 lbs of success you have achieved. Chicken broth can help. There is a product called bone broth which will help you keep up your protein. I am assuming you have discussed with your physician and or dietician. Just know we are praying for you. I am nearly 2 years post op and went thru it. I only say that to encourage you. You will succeed!!
  6. NeeWorldMe, I also have intermittent lightheaded ness. I have found that when this happens to me, I am behind on my fluids. I now keep water with me all the time. Regarding losing the hair, it is “normal” to lose hair at about 4 months. I believe I read on the Mayo Clinic’s bariatric website that while “normal” getting all your protein in each day will help with the hair loss. Also the does of Biotin may help. I take 10,000 2 x daily. Just some suggestions. 😊😊
  7. It took about 2.5 days of pain med, then I didn’t even need Tylenol. Amazing!!! You Will do well!! 😀😀

    65 yr olds with bypass

I am also retired 68 yo. June 3rd will mark 2 yrs Roux en Y. I have noticed that I tend to graze more so in the evening. I had gotten away from taking my time (20-30 min) to eat, not drinking while I am eating, and waiting 20 minutes after eating before I drink again. I also have coffee in the AM, but my husband & I are both big on having that first meal of the day. There is a reason it is called breakfast as in break the fast. 😀😀 For me, it sets the trend to get on schedule. I also have returned to using the Baritastic app. If I write it down, it helps me be accountable to myself. I am open to any other suggestions.

Protein drinks after 6 months PO

I have never heard of peanut butter protein powder. That sounds really cool. I still use the Premier High protein shakes 30Gms in 11 oz 160 calories. I am nearly 2 years out.
  11. I dress in layers ALL the time. But I have hot flashes, so it is sweater on sweater off sweater on sweater off. LOL At 68 thought I would be past hot flashes... Must use a pillow between my leg as or my knees hurt Also sitting on certain chairs make my tailbone hurt ( Never had THAT problem before WLS) LOL At 1yr 8months post-op I am still breaking out Have lost 1/2 a shoe size Not happy with extra skin, but at my age not going to spend megabucks on plastics surgery I can move sooooo much better than I could 10- 20 years ago so much more energy, LOVE buying single digit size clothes So grateful to God for all these changes!!!

    65 yr olds with bypass

I am 68 and am right there with you. Short of spending many thousands on plastic surgery, I get to live with the extra skin. A small price to pay for health. 😀😀

    65 yr olds with bypass

I am 68 y.o., had Gastric Bypass 06/19. Lost 80lbs in approx 6 months. Didn’t exercise much. But felt so much more energy. My personal goal was to be able to get down on the floor (AND get up without help) so I could play with my grandchildren. AND to be healthy!!!! I had Arthritis, sleep Apnea, hypothyroidism. Now approaching 2 years post-op, I have gained 7 lbs which I swore to myself I would NEVER do. Getting depressed thinking the bypass is not working, etc. Happened to come across a book on Amazon written by 2 Dieticians who work with WLS pets. The Complete Guide to Weight Loss Surgery, your questions finally answered by Kaouk and Bashaw. It has helped bring me back to basics. As in slowing down to eat, chew slowly, do not drink while eating, eat protein first. Have been very stressed over this 7 lbs. My main issue has always been night time eating. Now I am excited to gain back control over my life once again. So glad to see other people who had their WLS at my age. We can do this!!!!
