Ok, this is an odd one, but I'll take it: Since losing the weight, I find (and so does Mr., as I needed a second opinion, lol) that I am no longer in need for deodorant. I'm not sure if it's because my diet is different, or because I am always cold and no longer as hot as I used to be, but it is what it is. Though even after working out, and getting all sweaty, upon close inspection, I still manage to avoid smelling "ripened". Go figure.
    Again, I'll take it.

I’m just a little over two months out and I wouldn’t go back and do differently for all the money in the world. The pre op and first week post op were exactly what to be expected and what my surgeon prepared me for. I did have discomfort and nausea. Nothing unbearable and totally well managed with meds given by my surgeon. Expect a week of adjustment, follow YOUR surgeons plan. If you feel you haven’t received enough pre op info from your dr ASK!! A forum is NOT the place to get medical advice. Support and encouragement, absolutely. Good luck and if you decide to move forward know that the odds are in your favor and cold feet, second guessing are all part of the process 👍🏻💪🏻🙌🏻

I honestly don't get the angst of your post in looking at your selections? I'm so sorry.
I would truly encourage you to start working on reframing your reality and doing head work to work through the grief you are clearly feeling about the changes you chose to make to your body and how that is going to affect your eating.
You don't see this now, but a year from now when you are 50-100lbs lighter, your life will be TOTALLY different! I promise. You will be able to feel how fortunate this is!
I sometimes think surgeon's give you these limits not only to protect your new anatomy (you can do serious damage by challenging it too early), but also because they want us to break the cycle of using food for in a disordered pattern and putting too much importance on meal variability and too much on "food being good/yummy/comforty."
In this early time you have the opportunity to lose THE MOST WEIGHT IN A MONTH you will lose in all of your WLS history. We lose the most weight in the first 2 months following surgery. So please please embrace this time. I swear, it gets SO much better if you relax into it, keep it simple, measure and log everything, but just keep it simple. You know? Keep it low low cal/meet your Protein goals/keep carbs and crap out of it.
I didn't have to do puree. I had to do soft foods that were chewed to puree. But here are things that would fit your reqs. All you have to do is put em in a food processor (mini chopper) and bam you're there.
    1. Eggface Ricotta Bake (google it)
    2. Green bean casserole (bariatric style) with canned chicken
    3. tuna casserole (bariatric style) with green Beans instead of peas
    4. Mexican beef with cheese or beans with cheese (too carby for me--made me hungry too soon after eating)
    5. Broccoli, spinach or cauliflower pureed with light cream cheese, lemon juice, s/p/g (steam the crap out of it first)
    6. Smashed cauliflower with bacon and green onions (put in a food processor)
7,. Any Soup or chili made bariatric style
    8. Fish in foil pouches with lemon and spices/herbs.
    9. zucchini sauteed with onion, tomatoes and herbs and pureed--can add any kind of lean meat.< /span>
    10. yogurt/cottage cheese blends with berries.
I just ate the same things all the time in rotation usually. And the time went by quickly. Hang in there. The time does pass quickly.

You definitely establish a new benchmark/standard on how to report weight loss!
And I am glad to see there are some fellow spreadsheet freaks in the forum.
I will have surgery on May 8th, and I promise I will be reporting based on "ms.sss" standard.
Cheers to all from Spain and thank you so much for sharing. I read almost each single of your comments and it gives a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

First, the obligatory disclaimer: remember that everyone is different and will have different weight loss rates. Age, starting weight, genetics, height, complications all factor in to each person's weight loss rates.
Second, a thought: Instead of just total units lost, probably a more telling statistic would be maybe BMI (which factors in height), or Percentage of Total Body Weight Lost (but this doesn't take into account lean muscle changes...), or Percentage of Inches Lost in certain areas of body measurements (but everyone carries their weight differently...)
Lastly: Anyhoo, with that said, we are human after all, and we can't help but compare and be curious:
    ** Note that I am on the vertically-challenged side of 5' 1" **
Highest weight: 235.0 lbs (10-Oct-2018) BMI: 44.4 (morbidly obese)
    Surgery weight: 223.2 lbs (24-Oct-2018)
    Today's weight: 148.8 lbs (26-Mar-2019, 5 months + 2 days post op) BMI: 28.1 (overweight)
% of Body Weight Lost: 36.7% (-86.2 lbs)
    % of inches lost chest: 25.0% (-12.0")
    % of inches lost waist: 28.7% (-12.5")
    % of inches lost hips: 22.2% (-11.0")
** Yes, I keep track of EVERYTHING. You should see my spreadsheet **

Is what you're eating considered a slider food? I can eat my Halo Top ice cream and never feel the same restriction I do with more solid foods like lean meats and vegetables. I have to measure it out because if I eat it straight from the pint I will finish the whole thing off. You can't rely solely on the size of your pouch to lose and keep the weight off. Too many 'bad' foods are things that slide through. You need to make sure you are making the lifestyle change and eating healthy, wholesome food.

ms.sss reacted to CurvyMom in Eating too fast, not chewing enough, or???
Just a quick update- the extra medicine helped tremendously (at least I think so)- my stomach doesn't feel so blah anymore - it was just sore feeling and kinda hurt. As if I had been throwing up for two weeks - go figure.
Since Friday evening no more vomiting! YAY!!! I am just eating differently. Still have a little raw veggies but not a lot and 100% focused on protein...trying to embrace shakes again. I need to experiment with a morning coffee shake and some other shakes I think to keep them not so boring but overall, things are going much better. I have upped my Protein to around 70-80g which is still not crazy high but I was definitely not hitting any type of protein goals because I couldn't keep anything down. Since Friday the scale has moved 4lbs ! I will keep with this for a few weeks until I am ready to try other foods. Thanks everyone for the advice and support also!

ms.sss reacted to GradyCat in No More CPAP For Me!
I'm so excited, I'm doing the happy dance! I just got a message from my pulmonologist's office letting me know the results of my in-home sleep study last week. I've had Obstructive Sleep Apnea for 3 years and using a CPAP. I had gastric sleeve surgery 12/11/18 and have lost 35 pounds since surgery/50 pounds overall and so I felt like maybe I no longer needed the CPAP. She said the results are that I NO LONGER NEED A CPAP! I don't have to sleep with that thing strapped to my face anymore! The weight loss did it!
Now this one deserves a happy dance too, but I didn't get an exciting phone call about it . . . I also no longer have GERD since my sleeve surgery 3.5 months ago! I've had GERD for 10+ years and had it pretty bad in the first couple of weeks after surgery, but now it's gone away completely. Woo-Hoo! Woot-Woot! 🙂

it’s true! many of us bounce back from surgery, had no complications, lose weight and keep it off.
It seems that new people are not getting a balance look at weight loss surgery. I would love to hear all the positive stories. People with no complications.
Many people gravitate to the negative experiences. It will fuel your surgery anxiety. Your surgeon gave you the statistics and risk facts about weight loss surgery. Read some positives to give yourself perspective.

ms.sss reacted to RickM in No wine/alcohol for one year?
Doctors' philosophy on this vary from a few weeks to never again depending upon their experiences. The basic issues are:
Healing - alcohol is somewhat corrosive to the stomach lining so one needs to give things a chance to heal first,
Alcohol tolerance - rapid stomach emptying means it tends to hit faster, and with less (i.e., a "cheap drunk") so care must be taken there,
Transfer addiction - we can no longer satisfy whatever addictive tendencies we have with food, so it is easy for transfer that addiction to something else, like alcohol, drugs, shopping, gambling, etc. What was a casual habit of a glass of wine with dinner occasionally can easily turn into full blown alcoholism.
Liver health - starting as morbidly obese, or worse, our livers are not usually in very good shape to begin with (hence the "liver shrinking" pre-op diets that are often prescribed) and the liver is further stressed from its role in metabolizing all that fat that we are rapidly losing. It doesn't need any more stress from ingesting a known liver toxin like alcohol (not a judgemental thing, just our physiology at work).
My surgeon is also a biliopancreatic (livers and pancreas) transplant surgeon, so he is in the no alcohol as long as we are losing weight camp (and ideally forever) and indeed we sign a contract to that effect - he doesn't want any of his bariatric patients coming back onto his transplant table!
Those are the issues in play, and some aspects bother different surgeons to different degrees, so they have different policies. Check with what your surgeon's policy is, and decide for yourself - we are all adults here.
