  3. I have also lost 50lb my surgery was 3mos ago today. I am very happy with it so far. Still have a protein drink every am, yogurt, almonds, meat and veggies. I have had some bread and very small amt carbs, too scared of dumping.

  5. Abnormal ekg is not always a showstopper. They may want you to get clearance from a cardiologist.
  6. If it is a surgery center you have to have someone drive you. Don’t know about hospital. Your surgeons office should know the answer to that.
  7. I told my friends and my co workers. The only person who has been less than supportive surprisingly was a really close friend. Other than that everyone has been super supportive.
  8. Don’t know if it is considered a true complication but my only real complaint is constipation. I think I finally have things moving again. Miralax is my new best friend.
  9. The preop diet was not fun. Yogurt popsicles and soup were my friend. I don’t want to eat soup again for a really long time.
  10. I had it done as an outpatient. Went back to dr the next am to have drain removed.
  11. I’m down 40lbs 7 weeks out.
  12. I am 6 weeks out and anything with mayo (chicken salad, egg salad) completely grosses me out. I’m so sad! I love mayo!
  13. I got a card as well from my surgeon. I happened to be on a trip with a large group (not in charge of picking the restaurants) and we went to Paula Deens. I ate a few spoons of this and that, and they were gracious to charge me the kid price. When I mentioned the situation the server said “as long as you have the card” and it was no big deal.

  16. Are you getting enough water? It sounds like you might be a little dehydrated. Do you have a fever? High heart rate is also a sign that you could be getting an infection.
  17. When you get discouraged, because you have “only lost 5lbs” here is a little perspective. This is what 5lbs looks like. Also, don’t let the number get into your head too much. Look at the whole picture. Measure, you might see changes in places other than the scale. Don’t underestimate non scale victories like wearing a necklace without having to use an extender or your knees not hurting when you walk down stairs.
  18. I’m a nurse and had to go back without restrictions so I was off for 3 weeks.
  19. Those packs of unsweetened applesauce would be good to keep on you for a snack. The squeeze ones.
  20. I just got some pintos and cheese from Taco Bell. It will probably take me 2-3 days to eat it. Besides that I’ve had baked potato oatmeal yogurt protein drinks and unsweetened apple sauce. Sugar free jello and popsicles if I want a snack. Thursday I get to move up to semi regular food.
