  1. Heading to my pre-op appt tomorrow and surgery scheduled for Friday :s Getting nervous now. Finished up in work today and off for a month. Travelling to the UK to have it done so will be starting the journey in the wee hours tomorrow morning. Wish me luck. Any tips for travelling? Also how did you all feel on the evening of day 3? Im wondering would I be up for watching the uk symphony orchestra preform home alone.. Probably not realistic id imagine but what do ye think? Great to hear everyone who's through the surgery doing so well btw!!
  2. Only you know what is right for you and if you've your docs backing then Im definitely behind you on this decision. They will come round but you are doing this for you and your health and thats what matters. Sending you plenty of positive thoughts. We got this
  3. Just had my last visit with my surgeon, on day 1 of low calorie diet, definitely going to struggle on this. Surgery Date is the 30th anyone else having it that day or am I the last person on this group to have it done?
  4. This made me belly laugh
  5. The days are going so slow can't wait to be on the post op side. Well done to everyone so far.
  6. The 30th seems so far away, well done to all of you that have made it this far!! Counting down the days myself now. Anyone on the same day as me?
  7. Walking tends to help with that, do as much as possible. Pain meds tend to do nothing for that pain as well. It will settle try your best to stay positive
  8. Nearly November, 31 days and counting for me. Hows everyone feeling?
  9. Oh Im like a ninja when the camera comes out, leaping for the shadows for fear I get captured. We got this feeling a bit nervous about it all today but sifting through all the messages gives me confidence. Wish it it was Nov 30th already.
  10. Im trying out the actidiet shakes and soups to see if i can use them for my peri-op diet.. what is everyone else doing?
  11. Hi everyone, scheduled for the 30th Nov provided my consultation goes to plan on the 19th. Having it done in the UK living in Ireland. Going through cycles of nervous/excited/apprehensive about the procedure. Mostly worried about the complications and ability to stick to the diet afterwards. Im a doctor myself and I'm also worried about going back to work afterwards as i've a demanding job and i'm on my feet 24/7 How are people preparing for life at work after surgery? Any tips you've uncovered re tubberware, lunch boxes etc... Im not planning on telling anyone about my procedure unless I have to as I don't like the idea of people judging me. That said im really looking forward to being able to smile at myself in the mirror again, not have to worry about seats being too narrow or clothes not fitting.
