And how again is this thread titled "Do you have a treat, what is it, and how often." leading anyone astray? Again, please do not read so much more into it than you should, and please try to refrain from the self righteousness as well. You worry about you, I'll worry about me, and just because I said I may/may not have a treat daily/or not daily, I do not believe that constitutes as leading ANYONE astray which is a bit crazy to suggest. I do not need your negativity and your lack of confidence in what I can AND WILL ACHIEVE. You will not help me or any other newbie by being rude, condescending, or NAZI.
I bet you I will reach my goals, completely without YOUR help.

I highly recommend that you go to a shoe store and get fitted for a pair of Hoka One Ones. My SO got these for me right before surgery and it was the best $140 I ever let him spend on me. I work as an orderly at a hospital. Which means for 12 hours I am moving on hard concrete, pushing beds and walking between 8,000 to 10,000 steps in 7 hours. I use to go home with my feet, knees, and hips hurting, back aching, and I didn't want to move. Not the case anymore! These shoes relieved not only my foot pain, but my knees and hips as well. I just pulled a 14 day stretch of 12 hour shifts and there was no pain for the first time ever!!

Bite the bullet and go to a "Good Feet" store for a fitting. They can determine based on your gait what shoe brands will fit you best. It's a little pricey but oh so worth it to find a shoe that snuggles your arch and doesn't slip off the heel when you walk. New Balance, Ascic, Brooks and Saucony are great brands but you need to know which style will fit you best.

I went to a running shoe store in my area to be properly fitted for shoes. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and I was wearing the wrong kind of shoe that just made it worse. You don't have to buy the shoe from the running store. You can take the measurements and find a cheaper pair online.

I wear Asics and have for years. They key is to replace your shoes (every 6 months, yearly, etc. based on the mileage used). Also note that shoe companies continue to tweak the design of the same shoe annually and the ergonomics could change and no longer fit your foot as before.

I agree with those recommending getting an evaluation at a "good foot" or running store. I wish I had. It probably would have saved me a lot of money and suffering.
I suffered with plantar fasciitis for at least 3 years and spent $100s on trying to find shoes that would ease my pain. I even saw a podiatrist who ordered orthotics, which only made me more uncomfortable.
Of the things I tried, here are the things I can remember: Nike, New Balance, Orthaheel, Birkenstocks, online "plantar fasciitis" adjustable inserts, foot rollers, something called "Voodoo bands", kinesio tape, special toe alignment socks, massaging my feet with aspercreme and arnica gels.
What worked for me (aside from losing weight): Merrill MOAB hiking shoes. They're very stable shoes with excellent support. They're not the most fashionable or attractive, but they're functional and I can walk in them forever.
Aside from the toe alignment socks, I never tried any special socks and those socks were to be worn in the evening or at night. For socks, I'd say any good cotton sock that offers support would be good.

I haven't tried Skechers yet. Did you use them before you lost so much weight? I love/hate heels...look forward to being able to wear them again, though, ironically! ::for an hour,..or much less lol

My feet hurt! I've been walking faithfully but I need new shoes. I just bought Thorlo socks which are the best I have found so far for my poor feet but just curious what other socks are out there that are superb? I have men's shoes as I think they are best for my feet, but need new ones, seriously wanting to know what ya'all are/were wearing.

Yes. Just brown butter ( tiny amount) canned pumpkin and savory spices cooked until hot and pumpkin is dried out a little. Eat like mashed potatoes.

Ricotta bake. Everyone seems to have a variation of this during this stage. I also had white or pink Beans cooked very tender.
    Enjoy the new food phase!

Not sure if your program allows beans...but vegetarian refried Beans (lower in fat) with red enchilada sauce and cheese melted in. My fave soft food stage meal! Also Soups were great...I tolerated split pea and broccoli cheese well.

Well, he does have an excellent point.
I mean, I'm able to hold my breath underwater for an entire 90 seconds so based on that sample data, I assume I no longer need to breathe at all for the rest of my life and am immediately moving to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Should be fine, right?
Don't explain to him, don't qualify why you don't exercise, don't talk to him about your food. If he's been a d**k about it so far there's no reason he'll suddenly change, and in fact will likely get worse as he starts to dread the changes you're about to go through. Better to screen his input out other than the logistical stuff. He can catch up when you're post-op and suddenly doing a lot more active things all on your own and without his "helpful" input. People express a lack of confidence in all sorts of crappy ways, sounds like he's one of those.
Bland then hell out of him and keep your eye on the prize. You're the Little Red Hen and at the end of all this he gets NO bread.

Hey jultrim I really appreciate your honesty. I am sorry you are feeling so bad. These are things that I and I think many people are/have worried about, and it is really really hard to face the reasons we overate in the 1st place, or to face the bad and for it to come to the surface, when food used to bury it. For me, food would numb me from pain. Some people may not have deep reasons they overeat, but I think many of us do. It would be good to see a therapist, no shame in that and just know that it took courage on your part to get this out and admit your feelings here and I don't think you are alone in them. We will not judge you for feeling bad; many of us get the feelings you have been having. I hope and pray you get to a place that you can find peace and happiness again, and soon. Let us know how you are doing and Hugs to you.

I’m 3 months post op, 54 lbs down, and still think about food. For me, food was emotional. I ate when I was sad, when I was happy, when I was mad, and it was my coping for when I became a young widow. In September we passed his 9th angel day, and I was more emotional than I have been in years! But I realized, it was because I wasn’t using food to mask my emotions! This journey is allowing me to deal with my whys ... why did I eat, why was I sad, etc. Therapy, soul searching, and support are all a piece of that for me. I wish you all the best in your journeys 💞

@jultrim18 you are not alone in these feelings. I have started counseling as well because even at two weeks post surgery, I find myself miserable and repulsed by the "new" life I am living. If my husband takes me to the movies (to get me out of the house), I cry through most of it (happened twice already 😢) because of the smell of popcorn and knowing I can't have it. We try to go visit family and have some sense of normalcy and I started crying at the dinner table...right into my 2oz of strained cream Soup. I have already made the decision I will spend Thanksgiving home alone this year and send my husband and kids to eat and Celebrate with the family. I don't want my depression to ruin everyone holiday. I know I am going to need help overcoming this and my husband and kids (age 16 & 19) don't know how to help at this point. That is where the counseling comes in and at this point I am really hoping it works or at least improves my Outlook as I adjust to this "new" me. 😕
