  1. Oh hon, you will get thru this. You are starting a NEW life. Like a newborn - it is all part of the process. Take one day, one hour or one minute at a time. Big hugs.
  2. Well..as you lose wt your body changes and apparently that can make our restriction go south. So you have a double whammy on your hands: hardly anything in your band plus losing wt at a good pace. Can't you ask for more?
  3. I concur. Dang it I thought we were onto something. LOL Hmm..well... with your 3 week trip, if you unfill, you could then blog about your experience and perhaps provide more first hand account information (like the others who have posted in this forum) I highly doubt of the thousands of LBT members there are you all are the only ones who have wrestled with this. I have seen posts of others getting married or traveling in the states and getting unfilled prior to their festivities. But the posts are sporadic at best. Good luck!!
  4. Way to go on the sexy boots!!! When I am stuck I vomit. I get a sea sick feeling (nausea) after something is stuck and I feel this pressure in my chest and throat. Then after my body salivates a bunch it all comes up. Then I feel like crap afterwords. (relieved, but like crap)
  5. Yes, I agree this type of dialog is a good thing. If I could make the decision for you and watch your results (as this is an interesting scientific and psychological conundrum you have raised) My 'scientific' observation would go as follows: 2 trips - one unfilled and one filled and compare/contrast the results and experiences. Do you travel a lot? Can you try both? I am just so curious - there are sooo many thoughts on this topic.
  6. Hon, when I was close to 300 people did not say much until I lost over 60pounds (even though they could totally tell) it will get to a point that it will be like: a huge elephant in the room and one of your friends will start the conversation. The other thing is: some so called friends don't like the former fatty to change which forces them to 'evaluate' the current situtation. When they are unable to say: "well I am not a big as [fill in the blank]" anymore..human nature is: some people feel really uncomfortable about that. This is just the begining. Some will be super supportive, others won't comment at all and some will be down right bitches (men and women). Pull up your hooker boots and get ready for the fun to begin.
  7. ThinWithin everytime I see your signature I crave peeps...hahaha MY FAVORITE!!!!!:tongue_smilie:
  8. Hi All - I updated the spreadsheet with some formulas so all you have to do is: If you are new: Add your info all the way to the "Challenge Goal Wt" column and the rest will populate If you are returning to update the spreadsheet: Just update the: "Current Wt." box http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pfAYfZkr9NWgrhcvGlTxLCw
  9. OMG! Too funny.. its like: "Why god? Why!!! Why do we have to be the agents of change!!!It is all too much to handle sometimes!!" I can totally relate. dripping pipes after kids freaking sucks. Thank your for your humorous writing and really good info on this!
  10. Hi Shaun: There are some people posting over here about their may 09 journey: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f18163/lets-get-journey-started-89071/ Congrats on your surgery date:thumbup:
  11. Oh hon, I can TOTALLY speak this this. HAVE YOUR GALLBLADDER OUT. It doesn't get better and if I had know that I would feel sooo freaking awesome after getting mine out, I would have demanded it out years ago. The shitty part is I had very similair symptoms to yours and my doctor was like: "Shug, well we can wait and see..blah blah" But I was in this weird state of yuckiness and the pain that would come and go. No I wasn't buckled over every night - I had 2 'episodes' where I should have went to the ER (but pain made me all wacked out and I wasn’t thinking straight..stupid..huh) anyway, the rest of the time..I just felt like crap... tired and bloated with that GB pain you get....and for loosing so much wt. I was expecting to feel a whole hell of lot better at this point...So after pushing my doctor.. I wanted it out. Turns out after the pathologist examined my GB it has over 30 stones in it and was totally caked with cholesterol (which is not something that would have just 'gone away’ on its own) and would you believe non of this stuff showed up on the ultrasound -- the docs just said they saw: "sludge" in my GB I thought my GB surgery would be like my LB surgery ---but it was so much easier. First I am over 60lbs lighter, I move more now so I am in better shape, the surgery is removing something that is poisoning you not attaching a plastic thing to your body, and finally things were just easier b/c there wasn't a total unknown about getting surgery. Push your doctor for more information. You shouldn't have to suffer.
  12. Way to go. That is soooo cool!!! Not only do you look like you have always been thin. You look 10 yrs younger in your picture! (mini skirt!! )
  13. HERE YOU GO!!! ~ok someone data entry all the details - I did the technical part :smile2: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pfAYfZkr9NWgrhcvGlTxLCw
  14. Just as I am "shocked" people get banded and even with the help of a nuritionist and "common sense" don't ever get to goal. Congrats on your loss, you look great!
  15. with Plain and GuyM. I was sitting here reading your post of how he acted and I was thinking: "Dude! Take your medication daily. Uh hello?!?"
  16. Everyone is different. I went in on Friday the 18th, stayed home the following work week and weekend then returned to work on the 28th. I was sore, but I work in an office and was able to cope.
  17. K - my hubby said everything yours did (it wasn't about the ballon per say just the idea that if I just put the candy bars back...I would not need a surgery) So...I took my DH to a seminar and he was convinced. Now 8 months out my DH can not believe how things have changed for me (us). I relate to how your relationship is. Mine sounds similar. So like you said, your mind is made up. This is your body and you will do this for you and your kids and for a long healthy life. And when it is all done and said with, you are such a loving wife..you won't feel the need to look your loving husband in the eyes and tell him: I told you so. Cheers girly-girl. It's your time.
  18. It is all junk speculation unless there is a credible study done. Show me the JAMA baby!! I would love to read that study.
  19. I hope you are feeling better? I just had a giant fill in which things got tighter and tighter until I was actually choking on my own spit! I guess my doc offers 24/7 care and I should have called them as soon as it happened...but after waiting the weekend then gong in, my doctors office had to do a complete unfill b/c I had irritated everything in my throat.stoma area. Oh well! I feel a bunch better now!!! Thank god for unfills!!! Water or liquids should go down pretty easily. That is my opinion. Greener - As far as a journal goes. I posted my log on my blog if that helps.
  20. Thank you all for posting. I am so happy to 'read' that there are others out there going down the same path. HEY, moderators!!! Can you build us a Weight Watchers Board!! (Do you think they scan these posts?? LOL) Oh ya, I am now completely unfilled. Had a huge fill which didn't go over well. So I am just chugging along: "me and my points calculator" until next week.
  21. Oh my gosh congratulations Long2bethin!!!! That is sooo awesome!!!
  22. So I just wanted to post again re: WW. Now I know how successful doing WW is and having the band! I lost such steady wt in the last couple of months that I ended up having to get another fill! Which is nutz because I was perfect before. Now I am totally convinced that doing WW points and having the proper restriction is key.
  23. Each fill level seems to have its own 'journey' if you will. I was up to 4.6 and had that level for 4 months and swore that was the highest I would go. Then because of the my steady wt loss one day I woke up and had no restriction (major hunger, ate everything in the house, ate french bread...)- now I am somebody who has had the sensation of restriction since they first put the band on me. So it was totally bizarre. So I went in and the nurse jacked me up to 5.4 and I am having trouble getting coffee down. I have PBed 2 times since friday...I am not sure what I am going to do..if I PB too much more I will ask for a slight unfill.. I HATE this part of the journey..
  24. Whah!!! I gained back what I lost *sniffle, sniffle* (see post here) But I am so glad to be with you all. Truly it makes it so much easier to deal. Have a SUPER WEEKEND everyone!!
  25. But then it actually happened to me last week. All of a sudden I could eat large quantities of normally 'forbidden' foods.. It was nutz! So now I know what it means when someone looses restriction. My nurse said that my rapid wt loss this last couple of months triggered my total lack of restriction and man was I friggen hungry every second last week!!! I was having a huge food bender party and gained 3 pounds!!!:scared2: Ok, thanks for listening :crying:
