Same. I had RNY soon after you (11/6) and I've tried a bunch of veggies, fresh sourdough (which is supposed to be easier to digest, but still), Carba Nada Pasta (high Protein, lower carb), etc, and no issues. Like you, I haven't gone wild and tried to eat cake or anything, so maybe sugar or super friend food might, but so far, so good.
Also, because this group tends to get a wee curious, I should add the sourdough was from a local bakery, and actually had spent grain added to it. Spent grain (leftovers from beer making) is actually awesome in bread, because most of the starches are used up by the beer brewing, and what's left is Fiber and protein. BONUS!

I'm very happy for you that you've had success.
However, I'm a bit concerned by you saying "I frequently try to bite my tongue."
    "Frequently" implies not always
"Try" implies you don't always succeed.
My advice would be to keep your thoughts to yourself, and do your best not to indicate your thoughts with your facial expressions. Not everyone who is large is unhappy about it, and if they are, they don't need you reminding them.
Perhaps I'm reading your post incorrectly; the style with all of the commas makes it a smidge difficult to follow. However, I would only offer up opinions or advice if someone explicitly asks for it.

Again, congrats on your continued success though!

    Hey all,
I'm starting to test out some soft Proteins now that I'm a week out of RNY and successfully getting in my liquid and Protein requirements. I'm confident that as a veggie I could get 60g of protein in with three meals, but I'm getting a wee worried about getting that done in three bebe meals like the ones I'll now be eating.
Has anyone come across sample menus like the hordes that are available for meat eaters? If not, I'll continue to just kinda wing it, but it's always nice to get some outside ideas!
    Thanks!

I was thinking this time of year is stressful for a lot of people in terms of weight loss and a perfect gift to yourself would be (if you can handle it) to put the scale away. While that's really hard for a lot of people to successfully do, the seasonally appropriate way to put the scale ways to gift wrap it to yourself .
Maybe first toss the old batteries - probably need new ones to recalibrate it and gift wrap those too, then gift wrap the scale to open it the appropriate time .
You can give yourself the gift of being stressed free about constantly weighing yourself during this time if it causes you anxiety, when you should be really focusing on living life and spending time with your family and friends. If it doesn't this post is not for you.
An even bigger gift is when you open the scale you can use the number that reads as your new beginning weight (whether you open it in the New Year's or just after the holiday) and not worry about the ups and downs or the Stalls. Still track and measure foods and hydrate. Run the idea past your teams as usual.
Let me know what y'all think!
    Safe Journey 🎈

I agree with LadySin! I would contact a lawyer. Because of your first surgeon’s error, you now have to go through another surgery - more time out of work (if you work) - and another while healing process. And while it’s great that you will be getting the revision surgery, I don’t think that makes up for all you have and will go through. Good luck!!!

the reason for having it is.. if something happens they medical teams cannot give you NSAIDS nor instert a tube into your stomach blindly so they don't puncture it. They have to see your stomach on a screen now that it is smaller.

I think it's a combo, and none of it your fault. I agree that the guys are likely engaging some weirdo coping mechanism by broadcasting that you like them, likely to both seek attention (attractive woman is interested in me!) and to create a social barrier (...but I'm MARRIED and wouldn't DARE!). It's an alien approach to most women, because it is self-aggrandizing and dumb and easily disproven. But then there's the stupid gendered thing where a woman who refutes such a rumor is seen as protesting too much, and a man who says he's not interested is just telling the truth. Down with the patriarchy, etc.
HOWEVER. The other thing is possibly that you're so used to having your physical form negated by others that you poured most of your attention into your personality. So when people met you, they mostly liked you for your awesome communication and engagement traits, because you'd spent a long time honing them and were awesome. But NOW, you're SLIM. And that means your knockout personality now ALSO has a level-up of them liking you hormonally, so now they like you even MORE and some of that liking is sexual, and now their brains are fried. Because you're an attractive woman with a great personality and you're talking to them and that's unusual (which is likely also a quirk of having lost weight, because lots of women who fit in that category but were never fat have learned from past weirdness to tone things down).
Don't change who you are because of two dumb himbos. If it eventually gets to the point where it's too damn annoying to talk to men because they keep doing this, then you can think of changing things up. But for now it's just a couple of guys short-wiring because their brain and their pants simultaneously find you attractive.

Definitely just stop talking to men. Have you seen the article that has been floating through Facebook where this extremely old woman (in 100s?) says the key to a long healthy life is avoiding men? Lol

I don’t seem to dump. I haven’t tested it out by going carb crazy or anything but I can have a piece or two of dark chocolate or some starchy veggies and nothing happens. Not that I want it to happen but it’s an added incentive to not eat junk.

This isn't a full-blown rant, just an irritation. But dang it! I am so tired of eating cold food already! We take such little portions and eat them so slowly, that the food is almost always stone cold and unappealing after a few bites. I may not be eating much, but I want to enjoy what I do eat! (As I finish my little bowl of barely warm oatmeal)
    Anybody else got a peeve?

And my "binder plan" says 1000-1200 calories per day as soon as possible. LOL:) Ya can't win.
    They're different.
Why are they different? Because bariatric endocrinology is an emerging science.
My doc is part of a group that is studying the effects of longterm low calorie eating on metabolism after WLS. They've found that people who are on the traditional lower calorie diet the first year....lose weight faster, but lose comparable total amounts to people who eat 1200 calories over the first 18 months. Further....people who eat more in the early stages have less regain at 5 and 10 years post-op than people whose calories were very restricted early on. The theory is that you should avoid starvation levels of calories when resetting your metabolism.
Those who are told to eat lower amounts of calories the first year....have doctors who are following the traditional tried and true bariatric program that has existed for years.
Those who are eating more in the first year and are encouraged to reach 1200 as soon as they can....tend to have doctors who have been following the new research on better long term outcomes.
Neither are wrong. It just depends on the beliefs of who you are working with.
My group's protocol was developed by a research hospital and is being adopted by Cedars Sinai and Bethesda this year.

I'm one week post-op. Taco bell has their rolled tacos which are one of my favorite things in the whole world. Hubby brings it home for the whole family while I'm here sip sip sipping on liquids that I'm officially sick of. I walk by the bag and look in the bottom and there are little cups of nacho cheese that no one's eaten. I got a spoon and took three tiny bites of the nacho cheese... Hey it's a liquid, right?

Admittedly I'm jealous that she seems to be putting very little effort in and seems to be doing well. I am not undermining my own progress, I've lost 120 pounds so far, and 90 alone from surgery. I have completely overhauled my diet and life. But I am still jealous of her ability to eat whatever and still lose weight.
You are working hard and seem to being doing things the right way for long term success...You've lost over 100 lbs and that speaks volume. Please don't feel jealous of her but feel sorry for her because like the other posters said, her weight will come back unfortunately and guess what...those same people trying to get you to eat junk will be talking bad about her and saying that she should have been like you and turned down the junk food. yada, yada, yada...It's her life though.
I know people as well who's had wls and did the same thing, never changed their eating habits or lifestyle and the weight has returned.
Keep doing you, we are proud of you and here to support you.
PS: You may want to distance yourself from her so as to not pick up her bad habits, be around positive people that are going to motivate and encourage you. 😉
